Abstract

Introduction: The success of “Alert villages” (“alert village”) can be explained using an independence-based "community empowerment model", involving factors of physical capital, human capital, social capital and community empoweredness. Method: This model was developed with a cros sectional design involving physical capital, human capital, social capital, community empoweredness, and “alert village” success. The research subjects were 216 implementers of “alert village” in Panekan Sub-district, Magetan District, selected by cluster sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires, then analyzed using structural equation modeling based on partial least square. Result: The success of “alert village” wass influenced by: 1) physical capital with total effect of 0.105360; 2) social capital with total effect 0.774022, 3) community empoweredness with total effect 0.952891. Analysis: The success of “alert village” was determined by a direct determinant of community empoweredness and two indirect determinants of physical capital and social capital. Discussion: In the model of community empowerment in the implementation of “alert village” in Panekan Sub-district, the success of “alert village” was determined by 2 main factors in sequence, namely: 1) community empoweredness that included the ability to identify and develop potential, identify and prioritize problems, solve the problem; 2) social capital that included social network, level of trust between people, obedience to norm, caring for others, and involvement in implementation.

Abstract

User resistance is users’ opposition to system implementation. Resistance often occurs as a result of a mismatch between management goals and employee preferences. There are two types of resistance to health iformation system namely active resistance and passive resistance. The manifestation of active resistance are being critical,  blaming/accusing, blocking, fault finding, sabotaging, undermining, ridiculing, intimidating/threatening, starting rumors, appealing to fear, manipulating arguing, using facts selectively, distorting facts and  raising objections. The manifestation of passive resistance are agreeing verbally but not following through, failing to implement change, procrastinating/dragging feet, feigning ignorance, withholding information, suggestions, help or support, and standing by and allowing the change to fail.

Abstract

Indonesia is known as an agrarian country, should rely on the agricultural sector as an economic source as well as supporting development. In addition to the economic aspects, the progress of agriculture is also very important for the provision of nutrients for the maintenance and improvement of public health. This study uses the Location Quotient method to obtain a base subsector in the agricultural sector, so that the results can be used as material for consideration of export specialties. This study uses East Java GRDP data and as a comparison using Indonesia’s GRDP in 2010-2016. The results in this study indicate that the food crop and livestock sub-sector has an advantage compared to other sub-sectors and becomes a subsector of the base, so that these two sub-sectors can be used as export products for East Java.

Abstract

The use of pesticides is still a problem for public health, therefore we need a regulation by the authorities, which can lead to the behavior of using pesticides correctly. This is part of the area of law and health policy. Pesticide poisoning can cause breathing difficulties, headaches, neurological or psychological effects, and skin irritation and mucous membranes. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of some elements of vigilance in the use of chemical pesticides for farmers. The variables studied were difficulty and usefulness with eight elements, namely the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), pesticide storage, pesticide use procedures, use of pesticide doses, duration and frequency of pesticide spraying, maintaining equipment cleanliness, pesticide spraying according to wind direction and time of pesticide spraying. The sample size of this study was 100 respondents from the community who knew about the use of pesticides throughout Indonesia. The research instrument used was a Google form questionnaire sent to respondents via Whatsapp social media. The data that has been collected is analyzed descriptively to get an idea of which elements are the priorities for improvement. Referring data analysis result, the elements with high difficulty and usefulness together were use of pesticide doses and procedures for using pesticides. Thus, the two elements selected as priority elements will be fixed first. It is suggested that the pesticide control policy makers can develop regulations by prioritizing the two main elements, without ignoring the other six elements. In addition, it is also recommended that other control efforts be made that can be recommended to related parties in the area of law and health policy, related to the prevention of health problems caused by the use of pesticides.

Abstract

The development of autistic children both physically, emotionally, intellectually, and psychosocially has a problem that results in the inhibition of children reaching a level of emotional development that is appropriate to their age. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in children with autism includes autistic children providing emotional, social, informational, and practical support. An autistic child will feel that he is loved and wanted if more and more people in the family environment love and care for him. The purpose of the study was to know the effect of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) on the emotional development of children with autism. This type of quantitative research uses a Quasi-experiment with the design Pre-test Post-test with Control Group Design. The observation was carried out twice. The first observation is to determine the emotional development of an autistic child before being given Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and the second observation after being given Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Sampling was done by purposive sampling with the criteria of parents and autistic children aged 6-12 years in the autistic schools of the provinces of Yogyakarta and Ponorogo, East Java. Analyzed analytically using paired t-test and Wilcoxon, with a significant level of p <0.05. the emotional development of children with autism in the experimental group before Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) was given to most categories were good of only 34 children with autism (73.9%) and after Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) most categories were good for 44 autistic children (95.7%). In the control group before most were less as many as 28 children with autism (60.9%) and after most good as many as 17 children with autism (37.0%).The experimental group pre-test and post-test with a value of p (sig) 0.000, meaning there is a difference between pre-test and post-test in the experimental group. In the control group pre-test and post-test with p-value (sig) 0.000 meaning there is a difference between pre-test and post-test in the control group. There was an effect of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) on the emotional development of autistic children.

Abstract

Introduction.  Mentally disabled learners have dental problems 30% more complex than the ordinary toddler. It is because they have intellectual function disorder and adaptive behavior. This condition caused limitations in cleaning teeth optimally. So it will increase the risk of caries. This study objective is to find the correlation between the quality of life and dental caries at mentally disabled learners. Method. An analytical observational study with a cross-sectional approach to 118 learners in Sidoarjo, Indonesia, by total sampling. The variables in this study were quality of life (was measured with WHOQL-BREF index) and dental caries (was measured with DMF-T index). Tools and materials used are dental kids, alcohol 70%, cotton pellet, cotton roll, tampon, and WHOQL-BREF sheet. The data were presented descriptively in the form of a frequency distribution table, continued by Spearman Correlation test to analyze the correlation between the quality of life and dental caries at mentally disabled learners. Results. Most of the respondents are male (61%), with a range of age is 16-20 years old. The average quality of life for mentally disabled learners is the moderate category ( 65%). The average dental caries is considered as high. Spearman correlation shows p≤α(0,05) means there is a correlation between dental caries and quality of life. Conclusion. There is a correlation between dental caries and the quality of life for mentally disabled learners.

Abstract

Introduction: Lead can induce lipid oxidation in cell membrans, thus forming free radicals. The process of imbalance of free radicals and antioxidants will disrupt the normal function of cells, causing cell death and decreased sperm quality. Purpose: The purpose of this research is to explain the mechanism of steeping tin leaves (Ficus carica) increase sperm quality in male mice (Mus musculus) exposed to lead acetate. Methods: This type of research was true experimental design with posttest only control group design with the number of replications of 10 male mice, the experimental unit will be distributed proportionally to 5 groups. Steeping tin leaves will be given with a dose of Pb + Tin Leaf 1.664 mg (P1) and Pb + Tin Leaf 3.328 mg (P2), while for lead acetate dose 0.5 mg and quercetin dose 0.7 mg. The analyzed variables included spermatozoa motility, spermatozoa morphology, and spermatozoa concentration. Data analysis was conducted including the Shapiro-Wilks normality test, and the homogeneity test used the Levene test. If the data were not homogeneous, the group average test would use the Brown-Forsythe test, then continued with a different test for each group using the Post Hoc Games-Howell test. If the Levene test data were homogeneous, the group average test would use Oneway Anova. Findings: The results showed that giving of steeping tin leaves with a dose of Pb + Tin leaves 3.328 mg (P2) is able to increase spermatozoa motility and spermatozoa morphology. Conclusion: The steeping tin leaves increase sperm quality
