Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease with an increasing incidence, especially in the elderly. One of the reasons is that many sufferers do not routinely even take medication after experiencing hypertension. In addition to medication, dietary factors can also increase the risk of an increase in blood pressure. Community service is expected to be able to help health problems independently. Community empowerment is carried out by introducing regional conditions, introspective surveys, deliberation, participatory planning, implementation of activities, and sustainability development. The implementation is carried out by providing health education about hypertension diet and medication adherence by using poster media entitled “CAT HITAM” during a pandemic, before and after the activity, pretest-posttest is carried out to determine dietary knowledge and medication adherence for hypertension sufferers, Health Education regarding activities that can be done, recommended food consumption, and medication adherence that hypertension sufferers must adhere to during a pandemic. The pretest-posttest results showed differences in knowledge of diet and medication before and after health education with a p-value <0.05. Dietary problems from the results of community assessments are mostly about the limits of salt consumption for hypertension and treatment. Most of the respondents said they stopped treatment because they felt they had no complaints. It needs cooperation from various parties to continuously motivate the elderly to follow the rules of diet and treatment of hypertension.

Abstract

Tuberculosis is one of the infectious diseases that is the leading cause of death worldwide. In 2019, Indonesia was ranked 2nd with the highest number of tuberculosis cases in the world. Family is one of the most risky factors in tuberculosis transmission. However, family has crucial role in taking care for family members suffering from tuberculosis because a good care is able to speed up the convalescence and prevent the transmission to other family members. This can be influenced by several factors, such as family’s knowledge and roles. The Community Service activity carried out to family members taking care for people with tuberculosis is one of the strategies to increase knowledge in a Clean and Healthy Living with the aim to reduce the rate of tuberculosis transmission. Based on the results of the evaluation, participants were able to answer questions related to the knowledge material on Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS), and almost all participants provided correct answer related to hand washing with soap (95%). It is expected that participants as a family taking care for people with tuberculosis can implement the knowledge acquired during health education about PHBS

Abstract

Acute hepatitis in children that occurred recently in children has an unknown cause. Cases of acute hepatitis in children have also appeared in Indonesia. The number of existing cases is still relatively small, but the incidence of acute hepatitis needs to be addressed as a preventive measure. The problem of acute hepatitis, considered a new case, causes health workers and health students not to have much knowledge regarding this problem. The common understanding of health workers and students regarding recent cases of acute hepatitis in children causes the need to provide information related to acute hepatitis in children. The target focus of this service activity is on health workers and students. Health workers providing health information related to new cases are needed. Technological developments are improving, making health information dissemination more massive. Providing broad information is felt to have a good impact on health workers at large, so national webinar activities related to acute hepatitis in children are felt to provide more comprehensive benefits. This activity was successfully carried out, with a total of 282 participants and 167 who filled out the pre-test and post-test. Participants were attended not only from West Kalimantan but also from various provinces, such as North Sumatra, Java, and others. The average before education is 5.59, which has increased after education to 9.25.

Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is one of the silent killer diseases that often experience an increase in incidence every year. Common problem that often arises in someone with CKD is a decrease in hemoglobin levels. This study aims to identify and analyze factors related to hemoglobin levels among CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis. This was a correlational study with cross sectional approach. The study was conducted on March 21 – 31, 2022. The study population consisted of 90 CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis at Doctor Soedarso Regional General Hospital (as of January 2022). The samples involved 73 people who were selected using purposive sampling technique. The independent variables included age, gender, ethnicity, education, employment status, smoking history, creatinine and urea levels, while the dependent variable in this study was hemoglobin levels. Bivariate analysis in this study applied chi-square, Kendall’s, and independent sample t tests, while the multivariate test applied logistic regression. The analysis results obtained p values for age, employment status, smoking history, creatinine levels, and urea levels of 0.069 (OR=8.4), 0.418 (OR=2.4), 0.286 (OR=4.3), 0.000, and 0.323, respectively. It can be concluded that there was an effect of creatinine levels on changes in hemoglobin levels among CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis. Patients undergoing hemodialysis are recommended to control the amount and source of protein intake, adjust physical activity according to age and ability, and pay attention to the regular dialysis schedule
