Data Publishing
Huge amounts of research data are generated in experiments every day. With the rapid development of digital data collection, the processing and long-term availability of data sets in digital form is becoming increasingly important. By publishing research data, well-documented data can be made accessible and secured for the long term.
Guideline 13 of the Code of Good Research Practice of the German Research Foundation (DFG) states that, for reasons of transparency, applicability of research and reusability, the research data and principal materials on which the publication is based should be made available in recognized archives and repositories.
In recognized data repositories, research data are assigned a persistent identifier, usually a DOI, which enables data to be made available in a citable form (see also TIB PID and Metadata Service).
Publications with a link to the underlying data are cited more frequently (Colavizza et al., 2020; Piwowar & Vision, 2013; Henneken & Accomazzi, 2011).
Publishing research data at Leibniz University Hannover (LUH)
Researchers and members of Leibniz Universität Hannover staff may use the local research data repository of Leibniz Universität IT Services (LUIS) for publishing their research data. The research data repository is linked to other LUIS IT services.
More information on Leibniz University Hannover's research data services can be found here.
Publishing research data at the TIB
With an in-house RADAR instance and the Leibniz Data Manager, TIB is providing sustainable infrastructures that allow the research data of its employees to be permanently archived and published.
