Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang pengaruh shot peening terhadap kekuatan tarik pada paduan Al 2024-T3. Awal kerusakan material atau komponen mesin selalu dimulai dari permukaannya, untuk itu penelitian perlakuan permukaan masih sangat dibutuhkan. Shot peening merupakan perlakuan permukaan yang sangat efektif untuk membentuk tegangan sisa tekan pada permukaan material. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan material aluminium 2024-T3 yang diberi perlakuan shot peening dengan berbagai variasi intensitas penembakan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa pengaruh shot peening terhadap peningkatan kekuatan tarik pada material Al 2024-T3 berkisar antara 1,5 - 2 % yang berarti tidak signifikan. Peningkatan kekerasan akibat shot peening terjadi hingga kedalaman 600 μm dengan kekerasan lapisan maksimum 163 Hv pada kedalaman 100 μm. Semakin tinggi intensitas shot peening mengakibatkan kekasaran permukaan semakin besar. A research on the effect of shot peening on the tensile strength of Al 2024-T3 alloy. Early defects in materials or components of the machine always starts from the surface, to surface treatment while research is still urgently needed. Shot peening is a very effective treatment that surface to form the surface compressive residual stress of materials. This research used 2024-T3 aluminum material treated with a variety of shot peening intensity of the shooting. The results of this research indicate that the effect of shot peening to increase tensile strength in Al 2024-T3 material ranges from 1.5 - 2%, which means not significant. Increased violence due to shot peening occurs to depths of 600 μm with a maximum hardness of 163 Hv at a depth of 100 μm. The higher the shot peening intensity resulted in greater surface roughness.

Abstract

Lactobacillus plantarum Mut7 FNCC 250 is an indigenous bacterium isolated from fermented food (“gatot”) and a potential agent to reduce cholesterol. Study the on aplication of the bacterium as probiotic agent to food stuff is needed. The purpose of the study was to prepare formula of papaya-pineapple juice as probiotic carrier and to study the viability and capability of Lactobacillus plantarum Mut7 FNCC 250 to assimilate cholesterol during three months storage. Fruits juice was prepared with different formula and organoleptically tested. Selected juice formula was supplemented with Lactobacillus plantarum Mut7 FNCC 250 and stored in cool room (4-5 oC). During three month storage, the value of pH the product, cell viability and ability to assimilate cholesterol were evaluated. The result indicated that acceptable formula was papaya juice added with 25 % pineapple. Viability of Lactobacillus plantarum Mut7 FNCC 250 supplemented in papaya- pineapple juice was stable (decrease of < 1 log cycle), while the pH of the juice decreased after 3 month storage. The ability of Lactobacillus plantarum Mut7 FNCC 250 to assimilate cholesterol was stable within 2 months storage, but decreased after 3 months. Abstract

The crude extract of Anacardium occidentale was reported to have insektisidal activity against Cricula trifenestrata (Lepidoptera). Althought, the extract has not been tested against Crocidolomia pavonana (Lepidoptera). A research was carried out to test the effect of cashew nut shell extract on larvae and fecundity of adult female of C. pavonana. Toxicity of the extract tested by using feeding method to the larvae. The experiment arranged in the complete randomized design (CRD), consisted of 7 treatments and 3 repetitions. The treatments were the concentration of the extract i.e. 0.8%, 0.6%, 0.4%, 0.2%, 0.1%, and 0.05%. The same treatment methode was used to test the fecundity of C. pavonana female that developed from larval treated extract at concentrations of 0.16 % (LC30), 0.30 % (LC50), 0.45 % (LC70), and control. The results of the experiment showed that the extract of A. occidentale was toxic to larvae of C. pavonana with LC50 values of 0.30 % at six days after application. The extract of A. occidentale have an antifeedant effect and lengthened the development time of the larvae. The concentration range 0.16 % - 0.45 % reduced the weight of pupa, lengthened emergence time of adult, slowed down the first oviposition, reduced the egg production, shortened the life span of adult female and male, shortened the periode of oviposition of adult female, and decreased the fertility. Abstract

Powdery mildew (Oidium sp.) is important disease in the greenhouse tomato production. One of environmentally-friendly control method of the disease is biological control. Yeast from phyloplane of weeds such as cogon grass are potential as biocontrol agents. This study evaluated the potential of yeast isolated from the leaves of cogon grass and wild tomato to suppress powdery mildew of tomato. The samples were obtained from several areas in Sumedang and Bandung, West Java. The yeast isolates were selected on their abilities in controlling powdery mildew in tomato seedlings. The selected isolates were used for further experiment examining the effects of frequency of yeast application on the disease control. This experiment was arranged in Randomized Complete Block Design with 12 treatments and three replications. The treatments were three yeast isolates, applied once before pathogen inoculation, applied regularly every week or two weeks, the check and fungicide treatment. The results showed that among 13 yeast isolates obtained there were three isolates that suppressedthe development of powdery mildew disease by 61.0%- 68.6%. In further experiment, relatively highest disease reduction (58,6%) was showed in the application of yeast isolate from wild tomato leaves (TB1 isolate) every week.Keywords : biological control, phyloplane, Oidium sp., wild tomato

Abstract

Soil fungi and cercospora leaf spot are soil inhabitants and plant disease, respectively, that usually occur on chilli grown area. Formulation of neem oil was reported to have a role as an environmentally friendly botanical pesticide. This research was objected to studying the effect of neem oil formulation on the population of soil fungi and its suppression on cercospora leaf spot intensity of chilli crop. The field experiment was arranged in the randomized complete block design. The treatments were the concentration of neem oil formulation, i.e. 0%, 1%, 1.25%, 1.50%, 1.75%, and 2.0%. In vitro experiment on the suppression of neem oil formulation on the predominant soil, fungi were arranged in the completely randomized design. The results showed that neem oil formulation did not affect the soil fungi population and cercospora leaf spot intensity. However,2.0% neem oil had the lowest soil population. Neem oil formulation at 1.75% caused the highest suppression on TMa01 isolate (49.81%), and 1.25%, 1.50%, 1.75% and 2.0% of neem oil formulation caused more than 50% suppression on TMf01 isolate in vitro. Neem oil formulation at 2.0% caused the highest suppression on cercospora leaf spot intensity (46.34%).Keywords: Azadirachta indica, botanical pesticide, neem oil

Abstract

Title : The Balance of Organic and Inorganic Fertilizer on the Carrot Field (Daucus carota L.) at Andisols Tawangmangu. This experiment research was conducted on September – December 2007 in Blumbang, Sub district Tawangmangu, Karanganyar. The aim of this research was to know the effect of balance organic fertilizer and inorganic fertilizer to the carrot quality in Andisols, Tawangmangu. This experiment used RCBD (Randomized Complete Block Design) with organic fertilizer factor (0%, 50% and 100% organic fertilizer) and inorganic fertilizer factor (0%, 50% and 100% inorganic fertilizer). Statistical analysis for the influence of the treatment was variant analysis with F-test and Kruskal-Wallis test. Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) was used to compare inter-treatment and for finding out of the relation inter-variable it was used correlation test. The result shows that the balance of organic and inorganic fertilizer have significant influence to the water content of carrot, the weight of carrot, the weight of dried carrot plant and the plant’s height, and have not significant influence to the carotene, carrot’s diameter, and carrot’s length. The lower water content of carrot was shown by the treatment of 100% organic fertilizer and 50% inorganic fertilizer. The treatment of 100% organic fertilizer and 100% inorganic fertilizer give the highest plant height and the weight of carrot per plant. To the soil, the balance of organic and inorganic fertilizer has significant influence to the total N of soil and to the available N of soil. It has not significant influence to the total P of soil and available P of soil, total K of soil and available K of soil. The result of correlation test showed there was positive correlation among carrot weight and water content of carrot. Keywords: Organic fertilizer, Inorganic Fertilizer, Carrot, Andisols.

Abstract

Title : The Status of Ca Mg and S Nutrient as Basic Fertilizing of Soybean (Glycine max L. Merril) in Punung, Pacitan. The purpose of this research was to recognize the availability of Calcium (Ca) Magnesium (Mg) and Sulphur (S) nutrient, to give fertilizing suggestion, to give common fertilizing and soil management strategy. This research was phenomenological Descriptive Qualitative research by means of field survey which supported with soil analysis in lab. The determining of Ca Mg and S nutrient status and its management strategies was checked on each land units. The land unit’s map in Punung was obtained by overlaid soil map, slope map and land use map. From the overlay was obtained 19 land units. At the time that, The soil sampling take out in each land unit was doing as randomize (purposive sampling), to calculated the necessity of fertilizer based on the difference number of nutrient available in the soil and total removal Glycine max L. merril nutrient with the number of nutrient that carry on (total removal) in the harvest time, at the time that to determine fertilizing suggestion based on the result of fertilizer necessity (surplus or deficit) each unit land (SPL). Punung fertility level in common based on the Ca nutrient status are medium (6.08-7.87 cmol/kg), Mg nutrient status are high (4.05-5.25 cmol/kg) and S nutrient status are very low ((0.0013-0.0001%). The fertility suggestion was directed to the needed of S nutrient by adding the inorganic fertilizer that is ZA and Phonska. The rights soil and plant management strategies in Punung are: (1) Fertilizing of organic fertilizer as big as 5 ton/ha. (2) In the slope area by making level to the land as an effort to reduce erosion level. (3) In the flat area by using and making the mulch and the drainage line. Abstract

Title : Vermicompost and Inorganic Fertilizer Effect on Availability of Nitrogen at Alfisols Jumantono and Its Absorption in Sweet Corn (Zea mays L. saccharata). The purpose of this experiment is to know the effect of vermicompost and inorganic fertilizer on availability of nitrogen at Alfisols Jumantono and its absorption in sweet corn (Zea mays L. saccharata). This research was done from September 2007 until January 2008 in Sub district of Jumantono, Regency of Karanganyar, soil and plant tissue analysis was done in Laboratory of Chemical and Soil Fertility, Agriculture Faculty, Sebelas Maret University Surakarta. This research represents experimental research by using Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) factorial with two factors. First factor was vermicompost dosage and second factor was inorganic fertilizer dosage (urea, SP36, KCl). Factor I consisted of 3 level that is: K0 (without vermicompost), K1 (vermicompost 1.5 ton.ha-1), K2 (vermicompost 3 ton.ha-1). Factor II consisted of 3 level that is: A0 (without inorganic fertilizer), A1 (urea 100 kg.ha-1, SP36 50 kg.ha-1, and KCl 25 kg.ha-1), A2 (Urea 200 kg.ha-1, SP36 100 kg.ha-1, and KCl 50 kg.ha-1). From bolt of the factor obtained 9 treatment combination and each treatment combination repeated 3 times. Statistics analysis use F Test, Kruskal Wallis, DMRT, Mood Median, and Correlation. Research result indicates that there are interaction between vermicompost and inorganic fertilizer which improving availability of nitrogen at Alfisols and its absorption in sweet corn. Highest of N available by present of vermicompost 3 ton.ha-1 + urea 200 kg.ha-1, SP36 100 kg.ha-1, and KCl 50 kg.ha-1 that is 0.095%. Highest of N Absorption and N of plant tissue that is 0.714 g/plant and 1.39% shown by present of interaction between vermicompost 3 kg.ha-1 and without inorganic fertilizer. Highest of total N shown by present of urea 200 kg.ha-1, SP36 100 kg.ha-1, KCl 50 kg.ha-1 that is 0.30%.
