Abstract

Musca domestica is a fly which can be found aroundhouse and cage. Its present interference human hygiene, calmness and health. This fly generating many loss at human being and animal because this fly have high potency  in spreading many diseases agents, that are protozoa, worm, virus, bacterium and fungi. Several agents of emerging,reemerging and new emerging diseases can be transferred by M. domestica such as Cryptosporidium parvum, Helicobacter pylori, E.coli O157:H7 and H5N1. Agens removed by M. domestica through regurgitasi, excrete and exoskleleton. Interestingly M. domestica might be act as biological vector. Key words: Musca domestica, agent of disease

Abstract

This study aims to be show damage in the intestine of mice caused by inoculation of the larvae of Anisakis spp. alive and who has died because of a warming 750C for 7 minutes. Eighteen male mice (Mus musculus) were divided into three groups: control group, a group of mice were inoculated the larvae of Anisakis spp. alive andgroups of mice were inoculated the larvae of Anisakis spp. who have died. 48 hours post inoculation, the mice’s intestines necropsy performed later performed HE staining to identify and scoring intestinal histopathology. The results showed inoculation of the larvae of Anisakis spp. either alive or dead induce histological changes in the intestine in the form of infiltration of inflammatory cells, epithelial changes and structural changes in the intestinal mucosa

Abstract

Skabies merupakan penyakit kulit menular yang disebabkan oleh tungau Sarcoptes scabiei. Peran IFN-? terhadap reaksi hipersensitivitas skabies dengan tingkat keparahan yang berbeda belum banyak dilaporkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeteksi peran sitokin IFN-? pada proses peradangan dan tingkat kerusakan kulit akibat derajat infeksi skabies pada kelinci sehingga dapat diketahui lebih lanjut mengenai reaksi patogenesis skabies pada kelinci. Sebanyak 24 ekor kelinci yang secara alami terinfeksi S. scabiei digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Penelitian ini mengelompokkan hewan coba menjadi empat kelompok berdasarkan luasan lesi dan ketebalan krusta akibat infeksi skabies, yaitu: kelompok kontrol, skabies ringan, skabies sedang, dan skabies berat. Setiap kelompok dilakukan pemeriksaan imunohistokimia menggunakan antibodi IFN-?. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa derajat infeksi skabies berpengaruh terhadap ekspresi sitokin IFN-? yang ditunjukkan dengan intensitas perubahan warna kecoklatan yang berbeda pada jaringan kulit kelinci yang terinfeksi skabies ringan, skabies sedang, dan skabies berat. Uji statistika dengan uji Kruskal Wallis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang nyata pada ekspresi sitokin IFN-? terhadap skabies ringan, skabies sedang, dan skabies berat P<0,05). Simpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu semakin berat derajat infeksi skabies, ekspresi IFN-? semakin meningkat.

Abstract

Salah satu permasalahan yang sering dihadapi para peternak kerbau adalah penyakit Fascioliasis yang disebabkan oleh cacing hati atau Fasciola spp., dimana penyakit tersebut adalah salah satu penyakit yang bersifat zoonosis. Oleh sebab itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui prevalensi Fasciola spp. pada kerbau di Kabupaten Agam, Sumatra Barat. Sampel berupa feses 105 ekor kerbau dari tiga kecamatan lalu diperiksa dengan menggunakan metode natif (sederhana) dan sedimentasi sederhana. Hasil penelitian diperoleh 25 ekor dari 105 ekor kerbau dinyatakan positif terinfeksi Fasciola spp. Prevalensi yang diperoleh secara keseluruhan adalah 23,81% (25/105), dan hasil ini dapat dikembangkan dalam penelitian lebih lanjut.

Abstract

Lalat merupakan salah satu serangga yang termasuk ke dalam ordo Diptera. Beberapa spesies lalat merupakan spesies yang berperan dalam masalah kesehatan, yaitu sebagai vektor penularan penyakit. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis lalat yang dapat di temukan di beberapa pasar di Surabaya dan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat bakteri Salmonella, Shigella, Escheriscia coli, and Staphylococcus pada eksoskeleton lalat. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini ini adalah dengan cara mengumpulkan lalat menggunakan insek net dan umpan. Kemudian lalat di identifikasi jenisnya di Laboratorium Parasitologi, Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan Universitas Airlangga. Kemudian dilakukan isolasi dan identifikasi bakteri yang terdapat pada eksoskeleton di Labroratorium Bakteriologi, Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan Universitas Airlangga. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama bulan November sampai Desember 2013. Hasil dari penelitian ini di dapatkan tiga spesies lalat dominan, yaitu Musca domestica, Chrysomya megacephala, and Sarcophaga haemorrhoidalis. Pada eksoskeleton lalat tersebut terdapat bakteri Staphylococcus, E. coli, Salmonella spp., dan Shigella spp.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify lice and to know the pattern of infestation of lice that infest laying ducks in Village of Kramat, District  of Bangkalan, Region of Bangkalan. Forty samples of laying ducks were taken in Kramat Village and identified in Entomology and Protozoology Laboratory of Parasitology Department of Veterinary Faculty of Airlangga University, the research was conducted from July to September 2017. This study used an explorative observational research design. Lice taken from a sample of laying ducks are fed into an ointment pot containing 70% alcohol to preserve lice and labeled in accordance with the infected duck's limb region. Identification of lice using Permanent mounting method without coloration. The results of identification, the lice that infest laying ducks consists of three types of Anaticola crassicornis 60%, Menacanthus stramineus 25% and Lipeurus caponis 17.5%. The results of infestation pattern, infected body's region is head-neck, wings and back. The wings infested two types of lice were A. crassicornis and L. caponis, head-neck infested M. stramineus and in the infected back region of A. crassicornis.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan prevalensi dan derajat infeksi cacing saluran pencernaan pada itik petelur di dua kondisi lingkungan yang berbeda. Sampel feses diperiksa dengan metode sedimentasi dan metode apung kemudian dilanjutkan dengan menghitung telur cacing per gram tinja dengan metode Mc Master. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa 22,9% (8/35) itik petelur di Dusun Keper terinfeksi oleh Capillaria sp., dan Echinostoma revolutum, dengan rata-rata derajat infeksi sebsar 52,50 ± 41,662, sedangkan 31,4% (11/35) itik petelur di Dusun Markolak terinfeksi oleh Capillaria sp., Echinostoma revolutum, dan cacing dari kelas cestoda, dengan rata-rata derajat infeksi sebesar 155,45 ± 166,395. Infeksi bersifat tunggal maupun campuran. Analisis terhadap prevalensi dan derajat infeksi cacing saluran pencernaan itik petelur menunujukkan hasil yang tidak signifikan (p>0,05) antara Dusun Keper dan Dusun Markolak.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to identify the prevalence of gastrointestinal track protozoa in local chicken (Gallus domesticus) located in Kramat Village, District of Bangkalan, Bangkalan Regency using fecal examination. The number of sample used were 140 including 70 samples from rice fields location and 70 samples from fisheries location. The result showed that 54 (38.6%) local chickens were infected by species of Eimeria; E. acervulina (2.5%), E. brunetti (22.8%), E. maxima (46.8%), E. mitis (1.3%), E. necatrix (22.8%), E. praecox (2.5%), and E. tenella (1.3%). The result was made of 16 (22.9%) local chickens in rice fields location and 38 (54.3%) local chickens in fisheries location. The infection of Eimeria sp. on male local chickens were 24 (34.3%) while on the female local chickens were 30 (42.9%). Chi Square Test showed that there was a highly significant difference toward the prevalence in rice fields and fishery locations (p<0.01), but there was no significant difference toward the prevalence of male and female local chickens (p>0.05).

Abstract

This study intend to know the conformity of diagnostic test between burrow ink test method with skin scrapping method of scabies in rabbit. Scabies caused by Sarcoptes scabiei which has a predilection in stratum corneum and lucidum. Clinical symptoms was characterized by papula or crusting of the skin. This study presents a laboratory explorative research with cross sectional approach. Samples used 20 rabbits that infested scabies naturally. Data obtained by performing diagnostic burrow ink test method and skin scrapping in rabbits which are infested scabies naturally. KAPPA test used as data analysis. Results showed that the number of positive results based on burrow ink test method are 12 rabbits and 8 rabbits are negative while skin scrapping obtained the positive results are 11 rabbits and 9 rabbits are negative. KAPPA test analysis performed on the overall study data was obtained 0,490. The conclusion of this study is burrow ink test method has a good conformity with the skin scrapping in rabbits which are infested scabies naturally that can be used for diagnostic analysis of scabies with a simple method, faster, and have the same ability with skin scrapping without hurting animals.

Abstract

A study on the infestation of ectoparasites in chicken’s raised in Village of Kramat, District of Bangkalan, Regency of Bangkalan was conducted between July to October 2017. A total of 60 chickens were examined based on their sex and region of the chicken’s body. Identification was carried out on ectoparasites found identified using permanent mounting methods and scraping. The types of ectoparasites were M. gallinae 77%, L. caponis 52%, M. stramineus 15%, R. sanguineus 3%, G. gallinae 2%, G. gigas 2%, and D. gallinae 2%. Data were analyzed using Chi Square and Correspondence. The results of infestation was higher in males than females, although the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05). Results of analysis of the pattern of investation of ectoparasites in the region that includes in males and females body are M. gallinae in the region of the back. L. caponis in the region of the wings. M. stramineus. R. sanguineus in the region of the head-neck, G. gigas in the region of belly, G. gallinae in the region of the leg just found in the males body. D. gallinae in the region of the leg just found in the females body.
