Abstract

The objective of this experiment was to determine the effects of zinc supplementation on health status in dairy calves. Nine Frisian Holstein (FH) at 6-10 months of age were used in this experiment and divided into three groups. First group (no added Zn) for control, the second group was added 60 ppm Zn, and the third group was added 120 ppm Zn. Zn was administered daily for three months. Blood samples were collected from the jugular vein and anticoagulated with EDTA. Whole blood were used for measuring erythrocytes, hemoglobin concentration, hematocrit value, total leukocyte count, and leukocyte cell types. The results showed that no difference among groups for hematological parameters and the value of hematology were in the range values references. In conclusion, 60 and 120 ppm Zn supplementation in the feed is relatively safe for health.

Abstract

Bulls are expected to be able to produce a good quality and quantity of sperm. The objective of this experiment was to study the effect of Zn supplementation on the sperm quality, in Frisian holstein bulls. Ten bulls, 1618 months of age were used in this experiment. The experimental bulls were divided into two groups, i.e.,group without Zn supplementation (control) and group with 60 ppm of Zn supplementation. Zn supplementations were given everyday for a period of four months. Semen was collected by using artificial vaginaat the end of the experiment. Semen quality was evaluated macroscopically and microscopically. The variables measured were semen volume, semen pH, sperm motility, sperm concentration, sperm viability, and sperm abnormality. The results showed that Zn supplementation significantly increased sperm motility and sperm concentration (P<0.05), whereas there was no significant difference in other parameters.

Abstract

Permintaan dunia terhadap protein hewani sangat besar dan terus meningkat setiap tahunnya. Kebutuhan yang meningkat tidak dibarengi dengan kemampuan penyediaan protein hewani yang cukup sehingga sebagian besar dipenuhi melalui import. Pemenuhan protein dalam negeri diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kualitas maupun kuantitas daging melalui perbaikan mutu nutrisi sehingga mampu bersaing dengan pihak luar. Salah satu sumber protein hewani selain dari ternak potong, adalah memanfaatkan sapi jantan dari sapi perah FH. Oleh karena itu ternak jantan dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif sumber protein hewani dalam upaya untuk penyediaan pangan asal ternak.  Pembangunan peternakan diarahkan agar produk ternak dalam negeri mampu bersaing dengan produk ternak impor dalam rangka memantapkan ketahanan pangan nasional. Mineral Zn dilaporkan mampu memperbaiki skor marbling karkas [1].  Hal ini penting untuk memperbaiki kualitas karkas daging sebagai sumber protein hewani. Belum banyak informasi tentang efek suplementasi Zn terhadap pertambahan bobot badan terutama pada sapi FH jantan. Oleh karena itu pengamatan tentang suplementasi Zn terhadap performa (bobot badan) pada sapi FH jantan perlu dilakukan.

Abstract

Kejadian babesiosis pada anjing umumnya disebabkan oleh Babesia canis  dan Babesia gibsoni. Babesia canis memiliki ukuran yg lebih besar dibandingkan dengan Babesia gibsoni. Babesia canis memiliki ukuran 4 – 5 um, sedangkan  Babesia gibsoni memiliki ukuran 1 – 3 um (Zajac & Conboy, 2011). Babesia sp menginfeksi anjing dalam bentuk sporozoid yang terdapat dalam saliva caplak ketika caplak menggigit inang. Sporozoid akan berpenetrasi dalam RBC dan akan mengalami fase parasitic dalam RBC. Sporozoid yg telah masuk dalam RBC disebut tropozoid. Tropozoid dalam RBC akan mengalami pembelahan biner menjadi merozoid. Bersamaan dengan lisis eritrosit, merozoit akan menginfeksi eritrosit yg lainnya (Chauvin et al. 2009).Gejala klinis yg muncul akibat infeksi Babesia sp antara lain: lemas, tidak nafsu makan, demam, anemia, splenomegaly, lymphadenopathy, ikhterus, diare, muntah, melena, dan gagal ginjal (Barr & Bowman 2006).Pengobatan Babesiosis pada anjing (B. gibsoni) dg menggunakan Clindamycin 25 mg/kg BB, per oral 2x per hari selama 14 hari dapat secara bertahap menurunkan tingkat parasitemia dan menyebabkan perubahan morfologi yg diindikasikan adanya degenerasi parasit misalnya, segmentasi, penurunan ukuran, kerusakan inti /  nucleus sel, penurunan atau tidak terlihatnya sitoplasma (Wulansari R. dkk, 2003).

Abstract

Riswandi et al, 2018. Physical Quality Evaluation and Palatability of (Hymenachne acutigluma) through Combination of Palm Oil and Cassava Leaves. JLSO 7(2):204-212. The aim of this study to investigate the physical quality and palatability based feed Hymenachne acutigluma which is combine cassava leaves and palm oil as animal feed.  This reseach   was done in 3 months in Cattle Nutrition and Feed Laboratory and Livestock Experiment Studies Program Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya.  This reseach used completely randomazed design method with 4 treatments and 4 replications.  The treatment consisted of R0 (85% Hymenachne acutigluma + 15% concretate), R1 (55% Hymenachne acutigluma + 30% cassava leaves + 15% concrentate), R2 (55% Hymenachne acutigluma + 30% palm oil + 15% concentrate), R3 (55% Hymenachne acutigluma + 15% cassava leaves + 15% palm oil + 15% concentrate).  The observed variabels are smell, water ration, density and palatability of feed consisted.  The results showed thet the treatment had significant effect (P<0.05) on density of the ration and had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the smell and the water content of the feed.  The result of the palatability rations show thet the treatment of R1 is the most favored by the livestock.  The conclusion of this reseach is indicate that the combination 55% Hymenachne acutigluma + 30% cassava leaves + 15% concrentate can improve the physical quality and palatability.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study the effect of temperature and time of vulcanization in rubber sole compound manufacturing by utilizing palm shell charcoal as filler. The research was carried out at Industrial Research and Standardization Laboratory Palembang on May to November 2012. Experimental design used in this study was factorial completely randomized design (CRD). Two factors were investigated, namely temperature (designed as T with the following three levels: 130, 140 and 150 °C) and vulcanization time (designed as W with the following levels, 10, 12 and 14 minutes). The observed physical parameters were according to SNI 0778: 2009, including tensile strength, elongation at break, hardness and tear strength. The results showed that temperature and time of vulcanization significantly affected all physical parameters. The best physical properties result was obtained in the treatment T1W1 (vulcanization temperature of 130 °C and vulcanization time of 10 minutes) with the following values: tensile strength of 17.567 N/mm2, elongation at break of 578.33%, hardness of 59 Shore A and tear strength of 5.167 N/mm2 with all physical parameters met SNI quality standard.Keywords : Vulcanization, compound, filler, palm shell charcoalAbstrakTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mempelajari pengaruh suhu dan waktu vulkanisasi pada pembuatan kompon sol karet cetak dengan memanfaatkan arang cangkang sawit sebagai bahan pengisi. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Balai Riset dan Standardisasi Industri Palembang dan dilaksanakan bulan Mei sampai November 2012. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktorial dengan tiga variasi suhu (T1: 130 °C, T2: 140 °C, T : 150 °C) dan tiga variasi waktu vulkanisasi (W1: 10 menit, W2: 12 menit, W3: 14 menit). Parameter yang diuji adalah parameter uji sesuai dengan SNI 0778:2009 tentang sol karet cetak yaitu tegangan putus, perpanjangan putus, kekerasan dan ketahanan sobek. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa suhu dan waktu berpengaruh nyata terhadap semua parameter uji fisik. Perlakuan yang memberikan hasil terbaik diperoleh pada perlakuan suhu vulkanisasi 130 °C dan waktu vulkanisasi 10 menit (T1W1) dengan nilai parameter uji tegangan putus sebesar 17,567 N/mm2, perpanjangan putus 578,33%, kekerasan sebesar 59 Shore A dan ketahanan sobek 5,167 N/mm2 dengan semua parameter uji fisik memenuhi syarat SNI.Kata kunci: Vulkanisasi, kompon, bahan pengisi, arang cangkang sawit

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil fisik ikan lele (Clarias gariepinus)  asap yang diintroduksi dengan gambir (Uncaria gambir Roxb). Metode penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap yang disusun secara faktorial dengan 2 faktor, penambahan gambir (faktor A: 0, 2, 4 dan 6%),  lama waktu introduksi (faktor B: 15, 30,dan 45 menit) sebagai perlakuan. Semua perlakuan dilakukan 3 ulangan.  Karakteristik ikan lele asap yang diamati adalah meliputi analisis fisik (tekstur dan warna (Lightness), Chroma, dan Hue)), Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan gambir berpengaruh nyata terhadap tekstur dan warna. Tekstur yaitu 835,2 gf, lightness 27,8%, chroma 6,3%, hue 31,3o dan membentuk fenomena case hardening.

Abstract

Abstrak - Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perceived organizational support yang dilihat melalui ketiga dimensi perceived organizational support yaitu keadilan prosedural, dukungan atasan, dan penghargaan organisasi dan kondisi kerja  terhadap komitmen afektif karyawan hotel yang berada di Surabaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan 94 karyawan  yang bekerja di hotel Surabaya. Dari hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa secara serempak, ketiga dimensi dari Perceived Organizational Support berpengaruh signifikan terhadap komitmen afektif dan secara parsial hanya penghargaan organisasi dan kondisi kerja yang berpengaruh secara signifikan. Ditemukan juga bahwa penghargaan organisasi dan kondisi kerja adalah dimensi yang paling berpengaruh signifikan terhadap komitmen afektif karyawan hotel di Surabaya. Kata Kunci : Perceived Organizational Support, Komitmen Afektif, Karyawan, Hotel. Abstract - This study aims to determine the effect of perceived organizational support seen through the three dimensions of perceived organizational support that are procedural justice, supervisor support, and rewards organization and job conditions to hotel employee’s affective commitment in Surabaya. This study used 94 employees that working in Surabaya hotel. From the results of the research, it is found that simultaneously, the three dimensions of Perceived Organizational Support have a significant effect on affective commitment and partially only reward organizations and job conditions that significantly influence. Abstract

This study had three fold objective which were finding the effectiveness of ethanol extract of permot leaf (Passiflora foetida Linn.) towards mortality of Rhpicephalus sanguineus (R. sanguineus) larvae in vitro and also identifying lethal concentration and lethal time. Completely randomized design was used with six treatments and four replications. Five R. sanguineus were used in the treatment for all replication. The observation of mortality was done every ten minutes in five hours. Rhpicephalus sanguineus larvae were dead if there was no movement. The collected data was analyzed using ANOVA factorial and followed by Duncan’s test. The obtained data showed that ethanol extract of permot’s leaf ethanol extract was effective toward mortality of R. sanguineus larvae in vitro. The suspension of 10% extract concentration of permot leaf ethanol extract has a similar effectiveness as Noticks®. Probit analysis stated that LC50 can be reached by using the 4% concentration in two hours and 2.4% concentration in five hours. LC95 can be reached by using the 6.5% concentration in two hours and 3.93% concentration in five hours. The quickest LT50 can be reached in 0.91 hours and LT95 ­2.37 hours after treatment with 10% concentration.
