Abstract

The growth of the tourism industry has created social, economic, and environmental changes, so management steps are needed. Not only from the government but requires community involvement, both local and regional. North Rupat has various tourism potentials that can be managed in synergy to advance the strength and economic welfare of the community independently. The purpose of this research is to explore, find, and describe a model of communication management in community economic empowerment. This study uses a qualitative method. Data collection techniques through interviews with 10 informants, observation, FGD, and documentation. The research results show that an integrated management model through the control and management of communication resources in various forms of effective communication can improve the community's economy independently. Management of communication through various communication resources by planning, organizing, implementing and controlling communication elements in achieving predetermined goals. Meanwhile, the form of communication in achieving goals is adjusted to the character of the local community, through socialization, assistance, and counseling using information media and technology.

Abstract

The implementation of government public relations in the Pekanbaru City Government is carried out by the Public Relations of the Regional Secretariat and the Information Division of Public Communication, Diskominfosantik, in which two different divisions carry out the same task and function, namely government public relations activities. However, the Pekanbaru City Government has succeeded in maximizing its efforts to disseminate information on city branding with one of the most active media centers in Indonesia. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods, with interview and observation techniques, and uses data analysis techniques Huberman Miles. The results of this study explain that government public relations activities at City Government Public Relations are applied to the management of information dissemination through media relations, to build Regional Head personal branding based on mediascape analysis of Pekanbaru City, while the IKP Division conducts information dissemination through the media center to build Regional Head personal branding and OPD corporate branding through actively published live news release content. The management of the two communication channels refers to setting the intermedia agenda.

Abstract

Customer value and loyalty in many cases are often examined by using descriptive analysis. The usage of structural analysis for such cases in Indonesia is still limited. This study aimed to analyze the customer value and loyalty in a restaurant. Structural equation modelling is used to investigate the relationship between value and loyalty, and the factors which influence the customer value and loyalty. This study shows the positive relationship between such variables. Image is the most siginificant factor which influence the customer value.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were (1) to determine the value chain of mangosteen at Kiara Pedes Sub district, Purwakarta District, (2) to identify the gap between actual condition at Kiara Pedes and Global GAP standard, (3) to identify internal and external factors that can affect the implementation strategy of Global GAP standards, and (4) to develop alternative strategies that can be applied to improve the system of mangosteen cultivation and post harvest handling based on Global GAP standards. The analytical tools being used in this study were value chain analysis, gap analysis, internal and external factor evaluation (IFE, EFE, IE matrix), SWOT analysis, and quantitative strategic planning matrix (QSPM). Identified primary actors in mangosteen value chain were farmers, middlemen, suppliers, exporters, and local and overseas retailers. Based on IE Matrix and SWOT analysis, the strategies to implement Global GAP standards were (a) to increase mangosteen productivity and improve its quality by using developed cultivation and postharvest technology, (b) to increase productivity, and improve quality and transportation network in accordance with Global GAP standard, (c) to improve clean water and post-harvest infrastructure through cooperation with exporters and financial institutions, and (d) to improve warehouse and supporting facilities such as packaging and sanitation according to the Global GAP standard for minimizing the environmental constraints. The most priority strategies from the QSPM analysis were improving clean water and post-harvest infrastructure through cooperation with exporters and financial institutions, followed by using the developed cultivation and postharvest technology to increase mangosteen productivity and improve its quality.Keywords: Mangosteen, Global GAP Standard, Value Chain, Improvement Strategies, Farming and Postharvest Handling Practices

Abstract

The success of competitiveness of Indonesian fruits export in the destination countries is determined by comparative and competitive advantage and other factors. Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) and Export Product Dynamic (EPD) are used in this research to analyze the position of competitiveness of Indonesian fruits export. This research also uses panel gravity model to analyze the factors which affect the export volume of Indonesia fruits (mango, mangosteen, rambutan, banana, and melon). The results from EPD and RCA method show that fruits which have the highest comparative and competitive advantage in destination countries and the world are mangoesteen, mango, and guava. Indonesian fruit which lost its opportunity to compete in the destination countries is strawberry. The results of this research shows that the factors which influence the export of Indonesian fruits to the destination countries are export price, population, economic distance, real GDP and GDP per capita, real exchange rate, Indonesian consumer price index, and dummy variable of crisis which happened in Europe.Keywords: competitiveness, EPD, gravity model, RCAABSTRAKKeberhasilan daya saing ekspor buah Indonesia di negara tujuan ditentukan oleh keunggulan komparatif dan kompetitif serta faktor lainnya. Pada penelitian ini digunakan analisis data panel gravity model untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi aliran volume ekspor buah-buahan Indonesia (mangga, manggis, rambutan, pisang, dan melon). Pada metode Export Product Dynamic (EPD) dan Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) menunjukkan bahwa buah yang memiliki keunggulan komparatif dan kompetitif tertinggi di negara tujuan dan dunia adalah buah manggis, mangga, dan jambu. Ekspor buah Indonesia yang kehilangan kesempatan dalam bersaing di negara tujuan adalah stroberi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor yang memengaruhi aliran ekspor buah Indonesia ke negara tujuan meliputi harga ekspor, populasi, jarak ekonomi, GDP riil dan per kapita, nilai tukar riil, indeks harga konsumen Indonesia, dan variabel dummy krisis yang terjadi di Eropa.Kata kunci : Daya saing, EPD, gravity model, RCA

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purposes of this study were to 1) analyze the main problems in value chain of mangosteen product; 2) estimate value added of manggosteen products in BBP Mektan; 3) identify the gap main criteria between the value added and the mangosteen farmers; and 4) determine the mangosteen product priority that can be developed by farmers. The data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative method such as in depth interview, Hayami value added method, exponential comparison method, and gap analysis. The main problems in value chain of mangosteen product were (A.1) PT IKA was having difficulty to get mangosteen (grade A) as the raw material because of the competition with exporters; (A.2) BBP Mektan’s limited machines and the unequal value added information were the main problems at farmers’ level. (B) The value added analysis of mangosteen products in BBP Mektan resulted mangosteen extract herbal capsules (IDR 153.723/kg), mangosteen rind powder (IDR 56.144/kg), mangosteen seeds lunkhead (IDR 72.500/kg), and mangosteen cocktail (IDR 18.043/kg). (C) The main criteria of the value added gap among farmers is the market certainty (67,87%). (D) Mangosteen rind powder is got the highest priority of value added product that can be applied at farmer level because of the abundance of its raw materials, its high value added, its wide potential market, and the simplicity of technology used. Therefore, local government as law and policy maker has a role to make policies regarding mangosteen trade at the regional level.Keywords: exponential comparison method, gap analysis, hayami value added, mangosteen product, value chainABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini adalah 1) menganalisis permasalahan utama terkait rantai nilai produk olahan manggis; 2) melakukan estimasi nilai tambah produk olahan manggis di Balai Besar Pengembangan Mekanisasi Pertanian (BBP Mektan); 3) mengidentifikasi kriteria utama yang menjadi kesenjangan terhadap nilai tambah produk olahan manggis di tingkat petani; 4) menentukan prioritas produk olaha manggis yang dapat dikembangkan di tingkat petani. Data dianalisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif  dengan cara interview mendalam, nilai tambah metode Hayami, metode perbandingan eksponensial, dan analisis kesenjangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan permasalahan utama dalam rantai nilai produk olahan manggis yaitu (A.1) Kesulitan dari PT Inti Kiat Alam (PT IKA) untuk mendapatkan manggis (grade A) sebagai bahan baku produksi karena adanya kompetisi dengan eksportir;  (A.2) permasalahan utama di tingkat petani ialah keterbatasan mesin yang dimiliki oleh BBP Mektan dan belum meratanya informasi nilai tambah. (B) Hasil analisis nilai tambah produk olahan manggis di BBP Mektan, kapsul herbal ekstrak manggis (Rp153.723/kg), tepung kulit manggis (IDR 56.144/kg), dodol biji manggis (Rp72.500/kg), dan koktail manggis(Rp18.043/kg). (C) Kriteria utama yang menjadi kesenjangan terhadap nilai tambah di tingkat petani ialah kepastian pasar (67,87%).  (D) Tepung kulit manggis menjadi prioritas utama sebagai nilai tambah yang dapat dikembangkan di tingkat petani disebabkan kondisi bahan baku yang melimpah, nilai tambah yang tinggi, potensi pasar yang luas, dan kesederhanaan adopsi teknologi yang digunakan. Oleh karena itu, Peran pemerintah daerah sebagai pemangku kebijakan dan hukum perlu membuat peraturan yang jelas mengenai perdagangan manggis di tingkat daerah. Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study was undertaken to 1) analyze the total factor productivity (TFP) in Indonesian agriculture industry through the approach of the Cobb-Douglas production function and 2) analyze the factors that affect the agricultural industry TFP using the error correction model (ECM). The method used is a quantitative method to measure the level of TFP, which  is ordinary least square method and the factors that influence TFP by using ECM. The results of the estimation, the variables that significantly affect short-term agricultural industry TFP is gross domestic product, domestic investment, industrial exports (X) and capital imports (M). Therefore, to optimize the productivity of the industrial output, the industry must innovate. In addition, the government should enact policies to encourage the uptake of agricultural industry technology to become more powerful or higher through policies that would support high productivity such as investment and trade.Keywords: cobb-douglas, ECM, industrial agriculture, OLS, TFPABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilakukan untuk 1) menganalisis total factor productivity (TFP) industri pertanian di Indonesia melalui dengan pendekatan fungsi produksi cobb-douglas dan 2) untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi TFP industri pertanian menggunakan metode error correction model (ECM).Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif untuk mengukur tingkat TFP yaitu metode ordinary least square dan faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi TFP dengan menggunakan metode ECM. Hasil estimasi, variabel yang berpengaruh nyata terhadap TFP industri pertanian jangka pendek adalah produk domestik bruto, penanaman modal dalam negeri, ekspor hasil industri (X) dan impor modal (M). Oleh karena itu, untuk mengoptimalkan produktivitas output industri maka industri harus melakukan inovasi. Di samping itu, pemerintah perlu memberlakukan kebijakan yang dapat mendorong penyerapan teknologi industri pertanian menjadi lebih kuat atau tinggi melalui kebijakan yang dapat mendorong produktivitas tinggi seperti investasi dan perdagangan.Kata kunci: cobb-douglas, ECM, industri pertanian, OLS, TFP

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aimed to analyze 1) competitiveness of catfish Aquaculture business in the Indragiri Hulu District, 2) the impact of government’s input-output policy on the competitiveness of catfish aquaculture business. Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM) was employed in this study in order to measure the level of competitive and comparative advantage and effect of government interventions on catfish aquaculture business. The results showed that Catfish aquacultures that use most of the feed from factories are uncompetitive, while the catfish aquaculture that use alternative feed has high competitiveness. The impact of government policy on the output of catfish aquaculture business indicates positive result. It  means that the government intervention has been effective so the prices received by farmers are higher than international prices. In addition, local governments also facilitate off farm activities so that catfish are sold already in processed form in order to increase the added value received by farmers.Keywords: comparative advantages, catfish aquaculture business, policy analysis matrix, policy impactABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan 1) menganalisis tingkat daya saing usaha budi daya ikan patin di Kabupaten Indragiri Hulu, 2) menganalisis pengaruh kebijakan input maupun output yang dilakukan oleh pemerintah terhadap daya saing usaha budi daya ikan patin di Kabupaten Indragiri Hulu. Dalam mengukur tingkat keunggulan kompetitif dan komparatif serta dampak kebijakan pemerintah terhadap usaha budi daya ikan patin digunakan matriks analisis kebijakan atau policy analysis matrix. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa usaha budi daya ikan patin di Kabupaten Indragiri Hulu yang menggunakan sebagian besar pakan komersial (pelet) tidak mempunyai keunggulan komparatif, sedangkan usaha yang menggunakan sebagian besar pakan alternatif mempunyai  keunggulan kompetitif dan komparatif. Dampak kebijakan pemerintah terhadap output menunjukkan hasil yang positif, dengan harga yang diterima oleh petani pembudi daya ikan patin lebih tinggi dari harga internasional. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa kebijakan yang dilakukan oleh pemerintah telah berjalan dengan efektif. Di samping itu, pemerintah daerah juga membantu/memfasilitasi kegiatan off farm sehingga ikan patin yang dijual sudah dalam bentuk olahan sehingga nilai tambah yang diterima petani menjadi lebih besar. Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purposes of this study were to analyze the factors that affect the production of cocoa, identify the marketing channels of cocoa, analyze marketing margins received by marketing institutions, and determine the part of the price received by farmers. This study used a survey method to cocoa farmers and large traders (collectors). The analysis of production used Cobb-Douglas function while performance analysis was used to analyze the structure of behavioral marketing and market diversity. The results showed that factors affecting cocoa production in the district of Padang Pariaman and significantly influential as the input are labor, manure, chemical fertilizers, land area, number of crop yield and farmer’s education. The performance of cocoa marketing in Padang Pariaman District was not efficient, based on indicators of marketing margins, small parts of prices received by farmers and farmers markets not yet integrated with market traders in the district level. In the cocoa marketing activities in Padang Pariaman District, the largest margin was received by the village merchant marketing channel III. The amount of prices received by farmers can be determined from the marketing margin. If the part of the marketing margin is higher, the part of prices received by farmers will be smaller, as the case in marketing channels I and III. So the marketing channel II provides the most part of prices for the cocoa farmers in Padang Pariaman district. To increase the production and marketing of cocoa in Padang Pariaman District, several approaches could be implemented such as coaching, strengthening and empowering farmer groups that already exist.Keywords: cocoa, factors production, marketing channels, Padang PariamanABSTRAKTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi produksi kakao, mengidentifikasi saluran pemasaran kakao, menganalisis margin pemasaran yang diterima lembaga pemasaran, dan menentukan besarnya bagian harga yang diterima petani. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey kepada petani kakao dan pedagang besar (pengepul). Analisis produksi menggunakan fungsi Cobb-Douglas dan analisis performent digunakan untuk menganalisis struktur pemasaran perilaku, dan keragaman pasar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi produksi kakao di Kabupaten Padang Pariaman dan berpengaruh secara nyata sebagai input adalah tenaga kerja, pupuk kandang, pupuk kimia, luas lahan, jumlah tanaman menghasilkan dan pendidikan petani. Kinerja pemasaran kakao di Kabupaten Padang Pariaman tidak efisien, hal ini berdasarkan indikator besarnya margin pemasaran, kecilnya bagian harga yang diterima petani dan belum terintegrasinya pasar ditingkat petani dengan pasar ditingkat pedagang kabupaten. Pada kegiatan pemasaran kakao di Kabupaten Padang Pariaman, margin terbesar diterima oleh pedagang nagari pada saluran pemasaran III. Bagian harga yang diterima petani dapat ditentukan dari margin pemasaran. Dimana semakin besar margin pemasaran maka bagian harga yang diterima petani akan semakin kecil, seperti yang terjadi pada saluran pemasaran I dan III. Sehingga saluran pemasaran II yang memberikan bagian harga tertinggi pada petani kakao di Kabupaten Padang Pariaman. Dalam meningkatkan produksi dan pemasaran kakao di Kabupaten Padang Pariaman dapat dilakukan dengan pembinaan, penguatan dan pemberdayaan kelompok tani yang sudah ada. Abstract

The world demand of herbal medicine is mounting. The more intensive effort is surely required in order to meet the supply of raw materials of medicinal products needed. The purposes of this research are to observe the competitiveness between countries in the world toward the provision of export products and also to analyze the affecting factors of export demand of medicinal products to the destination countries. The methods of analysis used in this research are Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), Export Product Dynamics (EPD), and Gravity Model. The analyzed period was an average of 2003 until 2012. The results of this research conclude that Indonesia has a good competitiveness in the commodity of turmeric and gaharu wood compared to the competitor countries based on the analysis of RCA and EPD, with the position of competitiveness of "Lost Oppportunity". Based on Gravity Model, the factors affecting the demand of medicinal products are Real GDP, Real Exchange Rate, Population, and Economic Distance. All those variables significantly influence the dependent variable and are consistent with the hypothesis.Keywords: export, EPD, gavity model, medical product, RCAABSTRAKPermintaan obat herbal dunia semakin meningkat, tentunya diperlukan usaha yang lebih intensif agar pasokan bahan baku produk biofarmaka dapat terpenuhi. Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat bagaimana daya saing yang terjadi antardua negara di dunia terhadap penyediaan produk ekspor serta menganalisis faktor yang memengaruhi permintaan ekspor produk biofarmaka dunia terhadap negara tujuan utama. Metode analisis yang digunakan dalam penenelitian ini adalah Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), Export Product Dynamics (EPD) dan Gravity Model. Periode waktu yang diteliti adalah rata-rata tahun 2003 hingga 2012. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa Indonesia memiliki daya saing yang baik terhadap komoditi kunyit dan kayu gaharu apabila dibandingkan dengan negara pesaing berdasarkan analisis RCA dan EPD dengan posisi daya saing “Lost Oppportunity”. Hasil estimasi faktor yang memengaruhi permintaan produk biofarmaka adalah Real GDP, Real Exchange Rate, Population dan Economic Distance berdasarkan analisis gravity model, seluruh variabel indepeden berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap dependen dan sesuai dengan hipotesis.Kata kunci: ekspor, EPD, gravity model, produk biofarmaka, RCA
