Abstract

In the current era of globalization, all technologies are developing rapidly and sophisticated. This is used by all individuals well in helping their work, as well as the world of Guidance and Counseling is greatly helped by the existence of increasingly sophisticated technology. There is no need to worry about distance constraints, because counselors and counselees can still do counseling through the media called online counseling. One of them is through text (chat), this media is very easy to do counselors and counselees because they only communicate by writing or making text. Media chat also helps counselees who have a shy or awkward attitude when meeting directly with a counselor. They only type in a text form to the counselor about the problem. Similar to general counseling, online counseling through media chat also has obstacles in its implementation. This inhibiting factor can be caused by the counselor and his own counselor. The inhibiting factor of the counselor itself is the lack of special knowledge or abilities that the counselor has in communicating through media chat and the lack of skills in writing texts to avoid misunderstandings with the counselee. Likewise counselees such as lack of understanding in using technology also become one of the inhibiting factors. The reason for this article is to find out more about some of the inhibiting factors in counseling through media chat.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence literacy is a comprehensive set of skills, knowledge, and ethical considerations that are essential for the responsible and efficient integration of artificial intelligence into daily activities. Nevertheless, there is currently a lack of a comprehensive framework that enables the comprehensive analysis of all aspects of digital stories in a broad sense. By providing an analytical framework that allows the authors to evaluate digital stories generated by students from a variety of perspectives, this study endeavors to address this gap. The authors employ this paradigm to illustrate how learners can leverage the diverse modalities of digital tales to improve their comprehension of the curriculum, while simultaneously creatively expressing their identities and perspectives. Throughout their involvement in AI learning and digital story writing activities, the interviews with students were designed to investigate their perspectives on learning.

Abstract

This study delves into the examination of English speaking anxiety levels among students enrolled in the International Relations Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur. Its primary objective is to discern the extent of anxiety experienced by students, identify the factors influencing it, and explore effective strategies to overcome this prevalent issue. Through the utilization of the Foreign Language Speaking Anxiety Scale (FLSAS) developed by Balemir (2009), coupled with comprehensive in-depth interviews, the research findings indicate that a significant majority, accounting for 65% of students, grapple with moderate levels of speaking anxiety. The average scores derived from the assessment of different dimensions of anxiety reveal notable figures: 3.26 for Communication Anxiety, 3.16 for Test Anxiety, and 3.26 for Fear of Negative Evaluation. The principal contributing factors exacerbating anxiety include communication apprehension, test-related anxiety, and fear of negative evaluation, often stemming from inherent uncertainties surrounding language proficiency and apprehensions regarding comprehension abilities. Effective coping mechanisms identified to alleviate this pervasive anxiety encompass a multifaceted approach, including practices such as speaking exercises in front of a mirror, meticulous preparation of speaking material, and consistent engagement in repeated practice sessions. These strategies collectively contribute to bolstering confidence levels while concurrently mitigating anxiety symptoms. This comprehensive study not only lays a robust foundation for tailored interventions aimed at ameliorating English communication skills among students but also sheds light on the intricate interplay between anxiety levels, underlying factors, and the efficacy of coping strategies.
