Abstract

The nutrition recovery program is one of the efforts to overcome malnutrition in children by involving mothers or families. Mothers are provided with knowledge so that they can become independent in caring for and providing additional food that has been provided or recommended by the health center. During the three months, there were still children who did not experience changes in nutritional status, namely very thin, and only a few children experienced changes in nutritional status to become thin and normal. This type of research is a survey with a cross-sectional research design and aims to determine the description of maternal behavior and the nutritional status of toddlers after the nutritional recovery program in Makassar City. The method used is descriptive analysis. Data was collected by direct interviews with mothers using questionnaires. The child's weight was measured using a step scale and the child's height using a measuring board and microtoise. Nutritional status is measured by the BB/TB indicator. The research results showed that most of the mothers' knowledge was in the sufficient category, the mothers' attitudes were in the sufficient category, and the mothers' actions were in the sufficient category. Officers are expected to further increase mothers' knowledge through disseminating information about nutrition recovery centers, conducting outreach regarding malnourished children, MP-ASI, Nutrition Aware Families and providing motivation to increase mothers' knowledge and awareness of the nutritional status of toddlers.

Abstract

Oxytocin massage is also a solution to overcome irregular breast milk production. This massage is performed along the spine to stimulate the hormones prolactin and oxytocin after giving birth. The purpose of this study was to determine the role, benefits and functions of the combination of breast care and oxytocin massage on breast milk production in postpartum mothers and to facilitate breast milk production. The research method was quasi-experimental, with a posttest-only control design. Using consecutive sampling techniques. Interventions were given from the first day to the third day postpartum, then observations were carried out. Data normality test using the Shapiro-Wilk test, data analysis using the independent t-test. The research results obtained a significance value with the average number of the combination group and the control group. The conclusion of this study is that the combination of breast care and oxytocin massage is effective in breast milk production in postpartum mothers. When massaging the spine, it can cause a neurogenic reflex that speeds up the work of the parasympathetic nerves to convey commands to the back of the brain. As a result of the stimulatory signal, the potential action process of oxytocin is released into the systemic blood from the posterior pituitary. In the bloodstream, oxytocin is delivered to the myoepithelial cells of the alveoli and uterus so that oxytocin will stimulate these cells which cause the alveolar sacs to be compressed and the ducts to shorten and widen.

Abstract

Various efforts have been made by the Ministry of Health to overcome anemia in pregnant women, including routine provision of iron tablets to pregnant women. This coverage has not reached the national standard of 90%, so efforts need to be made to achieve the set target. The factors causing the failure to achieve the target of the Fe supplementation program are not yet known. One of the nutritional problems that often occurs in pregnant women is nutritional anemia, which is the largest and most difficult micronutrient problem to overcome worldwide. The purpose of PkM is to overcome the incidence of anemia in pregnant women so that it is necessary to organize and manage the provision of iron tablets. The methods used in PkM activities are health education and provision of iron (Fe) tablets in an effort to increase hemoglobin levels in pregnant women using interviews, questions and answers and questionnaires. The results of this community service activity are that all pregnant women in the Malino Health Center work area understand and want to take Fe tablets, so that it can reduce the incidence of anemia in this area. The conclusion of this activity is that there is an effect of providing Fe tablets on increasing Hb levels in pregnant women in the Malino Health Center work area with a pvalue = 0.000 with a 2 mean value of 1.6152.

Abstract

Malnutrition is a nutritional imbalance in the body. This imbalance is caused by nutritional intake that does not match a person's nutritional needs. The purpose of this study was to determine the decrease in the incidence of double nutritional burden in students of SDN 1 Benteng, Baranti District, Sidrap Regency. This research method is a quantitative study with a case control approach. The results of the study showed that children who often consume excess nutritional events are almost the same as children with normal nutritional status, meaning there is no relationship between the frequency of consumption and the incidence of excess nutrition in children. The conclusion is that malnutrition does not only occur when a toddler is born, but because the toddler's mother already has a history of malnutrition as a result of the low nutritional intake consumed by the toddler's mother. Mothers with low energy intake are called Mothers with Chronic Energy Deficiency.

Abstract

Pregnancy danger signs are conditions that can threaten the safety of the mother and fetus if not recognized and treated quickly. Lack of knowledge of pregnant women regarding pregnancy danger signs is one of the causes of the high rate of pregnancy complications. This community service aims to increase the knowledge of pregnant women about pregnancy danger signs through leaflet-based education at Posyandu. The method of implementing the activity includes counseling with leaflet media and interactive discussions. The results of the activity showed an increase in the knowledge of pregnant women after education was carried out. This activity shows that leaflet media is effective in increasing the knowledge of pregnant women about pregnancy danger signs.

Abstract

Background: Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in pregnant women is a major risk factor contributing to stunting in children. A local food-based supplementary feeding (PMT) program has been implemented in several stunting-prone areas as a promotive-preventive strategy to improve the nutritional status of pregnant women. Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of the local food-based PMT program in reducing the prevalence of CED among pregnant women in stunting-prone areas. Methods: This quantitative study used a quasi-experimental pre-post test design without a control group. Subjects were 60 pregnant women in their second and third trimesters in the intervention area. Data were collected through measurements of mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC), body mass index (BMI), and nutritional intake questionnaires over a 3-month period. Results: There was a significant increase in mean MUAC from 22.8 cm to 24.1 cm (p<0.05), as well as an increase in daily energy and protein intake based on a 24-hour food recall. A total of 68.3% of respondents who were initially at risk of CED experienced improvements in nutritional status after the program was implemented. Conclusion: The local food-based PMT program is effective in reducing the risk of chronic energy deficiency syndrome (CED) and improving the nutritional status of pregnant women. Recommendations include integrating PMT into routine integrated health post (Posyandu) policies and sustainable use of local food resources.
