Abstract

Aims: To know the effectiveness of using flash cards as a method to educate the expecting mothers during pregnancy counselling class. Methods: The study used pre-experimental pre-test and post-test control group designed with the intervention using flash card. This study was conducted from January to September 2016 with a population of 40 pregnant women and sampling by means of accidental sampling with 10 respondent. The research was designed by using Quasi-Experiment Wilcoxon statistical techniques. Results: From Wilcoxon test, the results demonstrate a level of knowledge in the control group with a score of 0.59 sig (p>0.05). In the treatment group sig 0.05 (p>0.005) indicates a significant difference between the group using flip charts and the flash card group. From the Mann-Whitney test, the results yield sig 0.002 (p>0.005) which shows that flash card proved to increase the level of knowledge of pregnancy. Conclusion: Counselling using a flash card is an effective method to educate the expecting mothers to better understand the knowledge of pregnancy health.

Abstract

Early marriage in Indonesia reaches 50 million of the total population of 237.6 million people. The phenomenon of early marriage in other areas is not much different considering the fact that sexual behaviors of teenagers who have pre-marital sex often leads to early marriage. This attitude can be seen from early marriage to both women and men in general, marriage is more common in women than in men before they are 19 years old. So the adolescent prevention solution should know and understand about the dangers and losses of early marriage. Understand or not, can be known from the attitude of teenagers themselves in dealing with early marriage. The purpose of this research is to know the differences of attitude between young men and women about early marriage in PGRI 04 Bantur Junior High School, using a comparative design. The population was all students of grade 2 and 3 (89 students) in Junior High School of PGRI 04 Bantur, Malang, Indonesia. The sample size were 73 students (39 were male students and 34 were female students). The sampling technique was stratified random sampling. Data were collected by questionnaire then analyzed by Chi square test. The result of this research shows that young men had favorable attitude were 13 (33.3%) and unfavorable attitude were 26 (66.7%). While young women had favorable attitude were 26 (76.5%) and unfavorable attitude were 8 (23.5%). The p-value of Chi square test was 0.000 (there was difference attitude between young men and women toward early marriage). Keywords: Attitude, Early Marriage, Adolescent

Abstract

The role of the laboratory is very important in the development of science that is growing rapidly in universities today. Laboratories are also very much needed in order to meet the achievements of the vocational college curriculum which holds more practicum classes, one of which is Midwifery Education where 60% of the education curriculum is Practice. Practicum class is an important part of the curriculum because it can assess 3 (three) aspects, namely the psychomotor (skills), cognitive (knowledge), and affective (attitude) aspects of students. Practical learning aims to provide students with learning experience in applying theory as training material and preparation for clinical practice application, bringing students to the formation of attitudes, skills, ability to work together, and creativity in receiving knowledge. To support practicum learning in the laboratory, learning media in the form of phantoms are needed. It's just that the number of phantoms available in the laboratory is currently very limited and not in balance with the number of students, so that in carrying out practicum learning students are divided into several large groups and study alternately according to a predetermined schedule. Students can only do practicum learning in the laboratory because the phantom size does not allow it to be taken out of the laboratory room. Limited access of students to maximize practicum learning using these phantoms which is likely to result in not being optimal or students not mastering practicum skills.
