Membership

As an open-source FOSS community, the Public Knowledge Project relies on strong support from a community of contributors to strengthen and grow its ongoing maintenance and development. Building on SFU’s administrative support, grants, and the revenue generated by PKP Publishing Services, we depend on financial and in-kind contributions from members to enhance and direct software development, educational initiatives, and research programs.

Institutions and individuals who contribute to PKP through financial and/or community contributions play a vital role in fortifying our operations. Members are eligible to receive membership benefits including applying for designated seats on PKP governing bodies.

Paths to Membership

To reflect our diverse, global community, paths to membership are also varied and diverse. The Public Knowledge Project has developed open source software for scholarly publishing for over two decades thanks to continuing support from organizations and institutions that share our commitment to increasing publishing access and quality.

Community Contributors

The Public Knowledge Project has depended on and leveraged the breadth of expertise in our community by encouraging in-kind contributions through assistance in our translation, documentation, software development, communication, and educational initiatives.
