Abstract

Urine retention is an emergency that must get immediate help / action, because total urine retention that lasts several days can result in urosepsis which can end in death, so it needs rapid management by catheterization. Comparing the effectiveness of jelly administration techniques applied to the tip of the catheter and jelly sprayed directly at the urethral meatus on pain complaints in patients with urinary catheterization. The type of research used is a quasy experiment, the sample is taken with purposive sampling technique, this study seeks to reveal the causal relationship of the dependent and independent variables with measurements after the intervention.

Abstract

Pulmonary TB is an infectious disease which is a major problem for health in communities, especially in developing countries. The incidence of TB in Indonesia in 2020 is 301 per 100,000 population, the death rate is 34 per 100,000 population. Pulmonary TB patients who do not comply with taking medication can cause a decrease in the cure rate and an increase in the death rate. OAT side effects are one of the causes of non-compliance. This study aims to determine the correlation of OAT side effects with adherence in pulmonary TB patients. The research design was an analytic observational cross sectional study approach and was carried out at the Asolokobal Health Center with a total sample of 30 respondents. Respondents filled out a questionnaire and gave a checklist on the perceived side effects of OAT, compliance was measured with the Guttman scale, the answers "Yes" or "No". The statistical test used is Chi Square with the alternative Fisher's Exact Test. The results of the study showed that 20 respondents (66.7%) adhered to the level of compliance with mild drug side effects. The level of compliance of respondents with symptoms of severe side effects who adhered to it was 6 respondents (20.0%), the level of compliance of respondents with symptoms of severe side effects who did not comply was 4 respondents (13.3%). Fisher's Exact Test, obtained p value = 0.008. It was concluded that there is a correlation between the side effects of anti-tuberculosis drugs and adherence to treatment of pulmonary TB patients.

Abstract

Self-healing can be done in various ways, one of which is through meditation and therapeutic touch. There is a similar journal about reducing pain using Therapeutic touch. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of self-healing (healing touch) on reducing pain sensation in post-op patients at the Regional General Hospital. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with a pretest and posttest design. The population in this study were all postoperative patients treated at the Regional General Hospital. The results of the study showed that the difference in the results of the pain scale after receiving self-healing intervention was a decrease in the pain scale in respondents who received self-healing. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the study conducted provides a description of the characteristics of post-op patients at the Regional General Hospital consisting of 39 respondents, most of whom were 36-45 years old with the majority of female gender and dominated by patients who work as housewives. There was a significant difference in the decrease in the level of pain in post-op patients after the influence of self-healing in the intervention group with an average decrease. There is an influence of self-healing on reducing pain levels in post-op patients.

Abstract

Background: Asthma is a chronic respiratory disease that can cause sleep disturbances due to shortness of breath, coughing, and wheezing, especially at night. Sleeping position affects lung function and patient comfort. The Semi-Fowler position is believed to increase lung ventilation and reduce sleep disturbances. Objective: To determine the effect of the Semi-Fowler sleeping position on sleep quality in asthma patients in the treatment room. Method: This study used a quantitative design with a pre-experimental approach using a pretest-posttest design without a control group. The sample consisted of 30 asthma patients treated in the treatment room of RSUD X who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The intervention was carried out by providing the Semi-Fowler position for 3 consecutive nights. Measurement of sleep quality using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire. Results: The results of the analysis using the Wilcoxon test showed a significant difference between sleep quality values before and after the intervention (p = 0.001), which indicated an increase in sleep quality after the Semi-Fowler position intervention. Conclusion: Providing the Semi-Fowler sleeping position can consistently improve the sleep quality of asthma patients. This position is recommended as part of non-pharmacological nursing interventions in the treatment room.

Abstract

Aging is a natural part of human life. Aging is one of the factors that cause hypertension, as with increasing age, bodily functions decline, marked by a decrease in the elasticity of arterial blood vessels and increased stiffness of blood vessels, making them more susceptible to elevated blood pressure in the elderly. Blood pressure is one of the vital signs, along with respiratory rate, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and body temperature. One of the common issues related to blood pressure is hypertension, which contributes to premature mortality worldwide. A person is considered to have hypertension if their systolic blood pressure is > 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure is > 90 mmHg. From a health perspective, as we age, we become more vulnerable to various physical, mental, social, and economic issues. High blood pressure not only affects your quality of life but can also be life-threatening. Lack of attention to lifestyle factors, such as poor dietary habits or insufficient physical activity, can contribute to the development of high blood pressure in the elderly. To prevent the risk of more severe complications, blood pressure can be controlled by changing lifestyle habits and engaging in regular physical activity, one of which is ergonomic exercise, which is very practical, efficient, and easy to perform. This literature review aims to analyze the application of ergonomic exercise in lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Based on several reviews of various articles, it is evident that the application of ergonomic exercise has proven effective in lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients.

Abstract

Background: Cardiac arrest is an emergency that requires rapid and appropriate treatment. Basic Life Support (BLS) training is an important effort to improve the competence of healthcare workers in providing first aid in this situation. However, nurses working outside the emergency department (non-ER) often do not receive routine training, thus hampering the potential for an effective initial response. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of BLS training on improving the competence of non-ER nurses in managing cardiac arrest. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach without a control group. The subjects were 40 non-ER nurses at a government hospital who participated in BLS training. Data were collected using a questionnaire and a skills observation checklist, analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. Results: There was a significant increase in cognitive and psychomotor competency scores after BHD training (p < 0.001). The average pretest score was 58.3, increasing to 83.7 on the posttest. Conclusion: BHD training effectively improved the competency of non-ED nurses in managing cardiac arrest, both in terms of knowledge and skills. Routine training should be included in hospital quality improvement programs.

Abstract

Background: Natural disasters and mass accidents demand the preparedness of healthcare workers, particularly nurses, in handling multiple trauma. Disaster drill simulations are an effective training approach to measure and improve this preparedness. Objective: To assess the level of preparedness of nurses in handling multiple trauma through disaster drill simulation scenarios in a teaching hospital. Methods: This study used a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. A sample of 40 nurses participating in the disaster drill was drawn using purposive sampling. The research instruments consisted of a standardized questionnaire and an observation sheet based on a clinical skills checklist. Results: The results showed that 72.5% of nurses were categorized as "ready" in handling multiple trauma cases, with the highest scores in triage and airway management. However, 27.5% still showed unpreparedness in rapid decision-making and team coordination. Conclusion: The majority of nurses are well prepared for mass trauma scenarios, but regular training and simulation evaluation are still needed, particularly in communication and resource management during disasters.
