Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this study is to reveal the principles of madrasas in improving teacher learning in the era of smart society 5.0. The principal's strategy for improving teacher learning must be acceptable and relevant to student learning objectives. This study uses the results of a literature review of several sources. The results show that the principal's method for improving teacher learning is to carry out a series of activities in the form of professional services to assist teachers in developing their abilities (competencies) to better manage the learning process. In an era of disruption where all digital channels are added, plus very fast access to information, the teacher is the central point of improving the quality of education as an impact on the quality of the learning process, teacher professionalism needs to continue to grow and develop so that teachers can carry out their duties professionally. Several methods can be used and implemented by school principals by focusing on the needs of students and streamlining the function of the principal as a leader, supervisor, and manager in the madrasa by applying them through the development of the Smart Society 5.0 era which demands the use of digitalization technology.

There are many phenomena that researchers have found in several Islamic educational institutions, for example: many teachers resign every year, they lack motivation and awareness of their duties as teachers or carry out their duties only because of rewards or punishments, and a lack of trust and loyalty towards school institutions. By implementing this transformational leadership style, it provides several positive impacts, the role of the principal is a model, encouraging subordinate performance, harmonizing the work environment, empowering employees, acting based on a value system, continuously improving their abilities, and having the ability to overcome complex situations. So with this research, it is hoped that the results of this research will be that this transformational leadership style can be applied to Islamic educational institutions, that have not yet used this leadership style, especially institutions that have a large number of students, both private and state because the results show that the transformational leadership style is very effectively applied to educational institutions today.

Abstract

Background. The National Examination (UN) policy in Indonesia, which applies to both public schools and Madrasahs, has been criticized for its limitations and lack of alignment with modern educational evaluation concepts. The National Examination is considered inadequate as it lacks multifunctionality and is not suited for evaluating all types of educational institutions. Particularly for Madrasahs, which focus on students' morals and Islamic character, the National Examination is seen as an inappropriate tool for assessment. Purpose. The researcher aims to explore the implications of the National Examination policy for Madrasahs, utilizing a literature review approach. The goal is to evaluate the policy from the perspective of contemporary learning evaluation concepts and determine its fairness, appropriateness, and theoretical grounding. Method. A literature review approach is employed to analyze the National Examination policy and its impact on Madrasahs. This approach involves examining various scholarly sources and theoretical frameworks related to learning evaluation. Results. The study reveals that the National Examination policy is unjust, inappropriate, and lacks a solid theoretical basis. It highlights that the policy, which relies predominantly on written tests (paper & pencil tests), fails to adequately assess the diverse aspects of student learning, particularly in the context of Madrasahs, which emphasize religious education. Conclusion. The findings indicate that the National Examination is not a suitable evaluation tool for Madrasahs and is misaligned with modern educational evaluation theories. The reliance on written tests does not fully capture the holistic nature of student learning, especially in institutions with a focus on religious values. The study calls for reconsideration of the evaluation methods used for Madrasahs to better align with their educational objectives and theoretical foundations.

Abstract

Abstract

Accreditation is a crucial indicator of quality assurance in educational institutions, ensuring compliance with national and international academic standards. It serves as formal recognition of an institution’s commitment to excellence, providing credibility and fostering continuous improvement. UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang has consistently pursued the highest accreditation standards, as evidenced by several study programs achieving superior ratings and the institution’s continuous efforts toward international certification. However, achieving and maintaining superior accreditation requires a well-structured and strategic approach. This study aims to develop and analyze a strategic planning model to optimize the accreditation process and strengthen the institution’s global reputation. Employing a qualitative research method with a bibliographic review approach, the study adopts the strategic management model by David F.R., which comprises five key stages: initial assessment, situational analysis, strategy formulation, implementation, and monitoring. This comprehensive model ensures a systematic and structured approach to accreditation, enabling institutions to align their strategies with accreditation requirements effectively. The findings indicate that this integrated model significantly enhances accreditation management by providing a clear roadmap for institutions to follow. Moreover, it introduces an innovative framework by combining established strategic planning principles with customized measurement tools, ensuring that accreditation processes are both efficient and sustainable. As a result, this approach not only facilitates the achievement of superior accreditation but also strengthens UIN Malang’s position as a leading Islamic higher education institution with a vision of international excellence. This study offers valuable insights for higher education institutions striving for quality assurance, accreditation optimization, and global recognition.

Abstract

The loyalty of students in Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) is influenced by the leadership of the Kiai, religious culture, and information technology. The purpose of this study is to understand the influence of the leadership style of the Kiai and the culture of the Islamic boarding school on the loyalty of students with information technology as a moderator variable. This study combines quantitative and qualitative approaches with a mixed method and a multi-case study. Data were collected through questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Quantitative analysis used moderate regression analysis (MRA), while qualitative analysis was conducted using thematic analysis. Data triangulation and member checks ensured the validity of the results. The study results indicate that kiai leadership and pesantren culture significantly influence students' loyalty at the Nurul Jadid Probolinggo and Al-Hikam Malang pesantren. With a personal approach, Kiai's inspiring and humanistic leadership builds a strong emotional bond with students. In addition, the pesantren culture that emphasises religious values and character forms student loyalty. Information technology also supports communication, operational efficiency, and more enjoyable learning. Regression analysis shows that pesantren culture has a more significant influence than leadership style, with an R² of 0.670 indicating a moderate relationship between the independent and dependent variables. The implications of this study indicate that Kiai's leadership and the pesantren's culture play an important role in building the loyalty of the students, which is strengthened by the application of information technology. The limitations of this study lie in the scope, which is limited to two pesantren, so the results cannot be generalised to other pesantren.
