Abstract

Children's health is an important factor that needs to be considered. A child will feel happier and more confident with a good diet. There are still many residents of Bandar Magodang Village, Serdang Berdagai Regency, North Sumatra, who do not realize how important it is to maintain healthy hair. Increasing awareness about the health of newborn children's hair in Bandar Magodang Village is the aim of this research. Survey and interview approaches were used in this research. The research results show that there are still many people who do not know about safe and reliable child care practices. Apart from that, they ignore how important it is to maintain the health of the younger generation.

Abstract

One of the factors that causes low critical thinking skills of students is the use of inappropriate learning models in the learning process. The learning process has an important role in developing students' critical thinking skills. One of the learning models that is considered effective in improving students' critical thinking skills is the Inside Outside Circle model. So this study aims to determine the Effect of the Inside Outside Circle Cooperative Learning Model Assisted by Audio Visual Media on the Critical Thinking Skills of Junior High School Students in Mathematics Learning. The research method used is quantitative descriptive using the quasi-experimental method. The results of this study obtained the Independent sample t-test test showing that the significance of 0.024 at the significance level α = 0.05, the two-sided p significance level of 0.024, which means less than 0.05, then H_a is accepted and H_0 is rejected, which means there is a statistically significant effect of the Inside Outside Circle cooperative learning model assisted by audiovisual media on critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Community Service Activities are mandatory activities carried out by UIN North Sumatra students, especially at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. PMM-4 students carry out community service activities in Bandar Magodang Village, Bintang Bayu District. One of the series of activities planned by PMM-4 students is a study house which is attended by the children of Bandar Magodang Village. This study house program aims to help the children of Bandar Magodang Village in brushing and maintaining good and correct dental health. This program is running well, this service activity is carried out through 3 stages, namely planning, implementation and evaluation. The method used in implementing this community service is a qualitative approach. Data were collected before and after the intervention to assess changes in children's knowledge and behavior. The results showed a significant increase in their understanding of the importance of brushing their teeth properly and maintaining dental health in general. The implication of these findings is the importance of ongoing dental health education in rural communities to improve children's dental well-being. This learning house action was completed on 18-19 August 2023 in one of the residents' yards in Bandar City, Bintang Bayu District.

Abstract

Mathematics plays an important role in everyday life, including in the development of human thinking power, science, and technology, although it seems unreal and abstract. This study aims to determine the Effect of the Flipped Classroom Learning Model on Numeracy Literacy of Class VIII Students of Gajah Mada Private Middle School. The methodology of this study uses a quantitative quasi-experimental research type with a posttest in two classes. The population of this study were students of class VIII A, VIII B, VIII C at Gajah Mada Private Middle School with a total of 80 students. The sample in this study was class VIII B, and VIII C. The data sampling technique was carried out using the cluster random sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out with a posttest in both classes. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that "The Effect of the Flipped Classroom Learning Model on Numeracy Literacy of Class VIII Students of Gajah Mada Private Middle School". The data of this study are quantitative data obtained from the numeracy literacy test. Data analysis using the t-test. The results of the data analysis show that the ability of numeracy literacy in the Flipped Classroom learning model is higher than numeracy literacy without using the Flipped Classroom learning model. Thus, the flipped class learning model has an effect on students' numeracy literacy.

Abstract

This study examines the comparison between conventional learning and technology-based learning on student learning outcomes. The purpose of this study is to understand the meaning of the comparison between the two learning methods, explore the meaning of conventional learning, technology-based learning, and student learning outcomes, and finally compare the effectiveness of the two methods in improving the learning outcomes of grade VIII students at SMP Cerdas Bangsa. The methods used in this study are literature studies and experiments involving two groups of students; the first group follows conventional learning, while the second group follows technology-based learning. The results of the study indicate that technology-based learning has a more significant impact on improving student learning outcomes compared to conventional learning.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of school facilities on students' learning abilities and motivation at Al Ulum Integrated Middle School, Medan. With a descriptive qualitative approach, data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document review. Facilities available at the school include air-conditioned classrooms, computer laboratories, libraries, mosques and sports fields. The research results show that school facilities have a very important role in supporting the learning process.Adequate facilities, such as classrooms equipped with projectors and air conditioning, can improve students' concentration and understanding of the lesson material. These findings confirm that adequate facilities not only support academic aspects, but also play an important role in building students' intrinsic motivation. Therefore, improving the quality and accessibility of educational facilities is very important to create a conducive learning environment. It is hoped that this research can provide valuable input for schools and stakeholders in efforts to improve the quality of education.Keywords: school; facilities ;learning; motivation

Abstract

This study was chosen because it is believed to be able to provide a positive impact on the mathematics learning process, especially in improving students' mathematical concept understanding abilities and reducing mathematical anxiety which is often an obstacle in learning. This is to analyze the effect of the Learning Start With A Question (LSQ) strategy with the Quizizz Application on students' mathematical concept understanding abilities and mathematical anxiety at SMP Negeri 2 Bilah Barat. This study used a quasi-experimental design with the Single Group Interrupted Time Series Design approach. The study population was all students of grade VII with a sample of class VII-1 totaling 32 students, selected using the Cluster Random Sampling technique. The results showed that the LSQ strategy with the Quizizz Application had a significant effect on improving students' mathematical concept understanding abilities and reducing students' mathematical anxiety. Based on the hypothesis test using the Paired Sample T-Test, a significance value of 0.001 was obtained, which was smaller than 0.05, so that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. This study concludes that the application of LSQ with the Quizizz Application is effective in improving students' mathematical concept understanding and reducing students' mathematical anxiety at SMP Negeri 2 Bilah Barat.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' learning difficulties in understanding Stokes' Theorem in the Vector Calculus course. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through interviews with students who have taken the Vector Calculus course. The results of the study indicate that students have difficulty in understanding the relationship between line and surface integrals, determining the normal orientation of the surface according to the right-hand rule, and performing proper surface parameterization. In addition, the complexity of calculating the rotation of the vector field is also a challenge. Students suggest the use of interactive visual media and gradual exercises as effective strategies in facilitating understanding of the concept. This study provides important recommendations for lecturers and curriculum developers to improve the quality of Vector Calculus learning through a more applicable and visual approach.

Abstract

This study explores the difficulties experienced by a group of university students in learning vector calculus, particularly in understanding line integrals, surface integrals, and parametric forms. These challenges stem from a weak grasp of fundamental concepts, the abstract nature of the material, and a lack of supporting visual media. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach through interviews and observations of the student group. Results indicate that students struggle to apply vector integral concepts in problem-solving, especially in connecting theory with visual representation. The proposed solution involves the use of interactive visual-based learning methods and the gradual reinforcement of prerequisite materials.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ difficulties in understanding the concept of Stokes’ Theorem in the Vector Calculus course. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through semi-structured interviews with mathematics education students who have studied the topic. The results show that students struggle to comprehend the relationship between line integrals and surface integrals, as well as to connect the concept of curl with vector direction in three-dimensional space. Limited understanding of prerequisite material and the lack of visual media further exacerbate these difficulties. Students reported that learning methods based on visualization and group discussion were helpful. This study recommends the use of contextual learning strategies and interactive media to improve students’ understanding of abstract concepts in Stokes’ Theorem.
