Abstract

AbstractThis research was aimed to explore the activity of ethnomathematics and mathematical concepts in the process of tapping rubber trees in the village of Cingka District Tayan Hilir. In this research, the researcher used descriptive methods and qualitative research. The data was obtained by observations, interviews, and documentation. The subject of this research was four tappers chosen by Purposive Sampling, chosen with specific objectives and considerations. The results showed that there were ethnomathematics activity found that was measuring, calculating, determining location and explaining. The mathematical concept in the process of tapping rubber in the village of Cingka district of Tayan Hilir was the concept of circular circumference, measurement of raw units and not raw, determining the length of time of an incident, ranks and rows, parallel lines, operations Division and multiplication, gradient or slope, measuring weight, parallelogram and there was a concept of geometry also, angles on the tools used in tapping. The mathematical concepts can be used to introduce and understand mathematical concepts through the local cultures, encouraging and enhancing the attractiveness of students to be more motivated in learning mathematics as well as basic in the development of teaching materials.  Keywords: Exploration, Ethnomathematics, Rubber Tapping

Abstract

AbstractThis research discuss about problem solving process of average calculated at class XI senior high school students that have sanguinis personality type and melancholy personality type based on Polya?s stage. The method used was descriptive method and this research form was case study. Research subject was eight students, with four students for every personality type. To collect data used questionnaire, problem solving test and completed with interview. Data analysis used qualitative analysis technique based on personality type and analysis guidlines of problem solving process that reffered at Polya stage. Research result showed that students who have sanguinis personality type understood problem well although did not write it, made solving plan but did not write it explicitly but explained their mind directly to answered the problem, applied the solving plan and checked the answer again. Students who have melancholy personality typed could write their understanding, wrote the things known and the things asked, then made problem solving plan in writing and  did the solving plan. Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to determine the learning model that can develop students’ mathematical connections between two models of learning, that are Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and integrative learning model on three-dimensional space topic in Class X of SMAN 1 Teluk Pakedai. The research method used was quasi experimental with The Matching-Only Postest-Only Control Group Design as the research design. The sample of this research consisted of two classes: Class XB and X C. The result of data analysis using U-Mann-Whitney test showed that there was no difference of mathematical connection ability between the students hwo were tough by using Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and those who were treated by using integrative learning model. In result Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and integrative learning model can be used to develop students’ mathematical connection ability. This is proved by  the average mathematical connection ability score of the students in Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and integrative learning model which are 65.67 and 64 respectively.Keyword : mathematical connection ability, problem based learning  model, integrative learning model

Abstract

AbstractMathematics at school and mathematics found by students in everyday life are very different. That is why, mathematics is often seen as a difficult lesson by students. Mathematics must build a bridge between real-world mathematics and mathematics at school. This study aimed to identify elements of Dayak Kayaan beads that are related to mathematics. The subject of this study was those who considered to have the required knowledge, namely FeronikaBuaa, EmilianaKavung, and Klara Ida. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. From the results of interviews and analysis of the data obtained are (1) How to mention the calculation of beads related to the material spelled; (2) The drawing pattern on the bead sequence is related to square material (flat build); (3) Grouping of bead colors on bead sequences related to set material; (4) Economic Value related to social arithmetic; (5) Forming a pattern with an odd bead in a series of beads related to the material of odd numbers; (6) The similarity of the shape of the drawing pattern to the bead sequence is related to the material of symmetry. Keywords: Ethnomathematics, Stringing Beads, Dayak Kayaan

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perilaku kognitif siswa kelas VII SMP Kemala Bayangkari Kubu Raya pada kelompok etnis Cina dan etnis Melayu berdasarkan tingkat kemampuan atas, sedang dan bawah dalam pemecahan masalah pada materi pecahan campuran. Subjek dalam  penelitian  ini adalah 12 orang siswa kelas VII B dan VII C. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriftif, sedangkan bentuknya adalah survey. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes, kuesioner dan wawancara mendalam. Perilaku kognitif kognitif siswa kelas VII SMP Kemala Bayangkari Kubu Raya pada kelompok etnis Cina dan etnis Melayu pada siswa etnis Cina berkemampuan atas sampai  menerapakan, kemamapuan menengah sampai di menerapkan dan kemampuan bawah di mengingat. Setelah diberikan tes, kuesioner dan dilakukan wawancara mendalam. Hal ini ditunjukan berdasarkan hasil pemecahan masalah siswa pada materi pecahan campuran, hasil angket dan wawancara mendalam yang dilakukan.   Kata kunci:  Perilaku kognitif, Pemecahan masalah, Materi pecahan campuran   Abstract: This study aims to determine students' cognitive behavior class VII Kemala Bayangkari Kubu Raya in the ethnic Chinese and Malays based on ability level, medium and lower in problem solving in fractions material mixture. Subjects in this study were 12 students of class VII B and C. The method used is descriptive, while the form is survey. Instruments used in the form of tests, questionnaires and in-depth interviews. Cognitive behavioral cognitive class VII student Kemala Bayangkari Kubu Raya in the ethnic Chinese and Malays in ethnic Chinese students over the ability to deploy an ability in the medium to implement and down on the ability to Remember. Once administered tests, questionnaires and conducted in-depth interviews. Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this research is want to know the effectivity of remediation using scaffolding and supported with Algebraic Experience Materials to improve concept comprehension and student’s learning outcomes in materials of addition and subtraction of the student in class VII of MTs Darul Amin Pontianak. Research method used is analysis descriptive and the form  is case study. The subject of this research is 17 students in class VII MTs Darul Amin Pontianak that had scores below minimum completeness criteria based on the result of pre-test in material of algebraic addition and subtraction. The result of pre-test showed  the students had problems in the lack of understanding for integers and differentiation of like terms dan unlike terms. Data analysis result showed  remediation using scaffolding and supported with Algebraic Experience Materials was unable to improve student’s concept comprehension as a whole, but still improved based the result of post-test. The calculations using Effect Size formula to know the effectivity, the result was 0,42 which fell in the category moderate, so remediation using scaffolding and supported with Algebraic Experience Materials can be used as learning strategy of this material.Keywords : Remediation, Scaffolding, Algebraic Experience Materials

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to determine the ability of mathematical representations and determine the level of student anxiety in learning mathematics in the materials of circumference and wide of a rectangular and trapezoidal on the seventh grade student of SMP Kristen Marantha Pontianak. The researcher uses quasi-exsperimental research method and applies control group pre-test and post-test design. The sample of this research are 39 students as exsperimental group and 40 students as control group. The result of data analysis shows that the mean of the gaint-test score of the students mathematical representations ability group is 42,25 and the mean of the gain-test score of control group is 31,55. It is indicate that the mean of gain-test score of the student mathematical representations ability of exsperimental group which given by Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) is better than the control group which is only given the conventional learning. Whereas the level of student anxiety  after given the learning ability by using Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) is categorized lower. Keywords: mathematical representations, model eliciting activities, anxiety.

Abstract

Abstrak : Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika materi bilangan pecahan di kelas VII SMP LKIA Pontianak. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan bentuk penelitian studi kasus. Subjek dalam penelitian adalah 34 siswa. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, dan pembahasan menunjukan bahwa pada umumnya siswa melakukan kesalahan dalam menyelesaikan soal materi bilangan pecahan. Kesalahan-kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa adalah sebagai berikut : 1) kesalahan konsep meliputi salah dalam mengubah pecahan campuran menjadi pecahan biasa, menyamakan penyebut menggunakan KPK, menjumlahkan pecahan berpenyebut sama, menjumlahkan pecahan berpenyebut tidak sama, mengurangkan pecahan berpenyebut sama, dan mengurangkan pecahan yang berpenyebut tidak sama; 2) kesalahan operasi meliputi salah dalam berhitung saat mengubah pecahan campuran menjadi pecahan biasa,  menjumlahkan pembilang, mengurangkan pembilang, dan  menuliskan operasi. Kata kunci : Analisis Kesalahan, Bilangan Pecahan Abstract : The purpose of this research was to describe the students' mistakes in solving math fractions material to the seventh grade students of SMP LKIA Pontianak. The method of this research was descriptive with the form of case study. The subject of this research was 34 seventh grade students. Based on the data analysis and the discussion, it showed that generally many students did mistakes in solving the fractions material. The mistakes that had been done by the students were: 1) the misconceptions included wrongly converting from mixed numbers to improper fractions, equating the denominator using KPK, adding the fractions with the same denominator, adding the fractions with the different denominator, subtracting the fractions with the same denominator, and subtracting the fractions with the different denominator. 2) Operation errors included wrongly calculating in converting from mixed numbers to improper fractions, adding the numerator, subtracting the numerator, and writing the operation fractions. Abstract

Abstract The aim of this research is to describe the procedural fluency mathematic of students in solving algebraic operations. In this research, the procedural fluency based on two aspects: the students’ knowledge of procedural and the knowledge of using the procedural in the proper time to solve algebraic operations. The method of research used case study as the qualitative method. The subject of research were some junior high school students who lived around the researcher’s environment. The instrument of research consist of major instrument (the researcher) and supporting instrument (test and interview). Based on the result of research, the researcher found that the students’ knowledge of procedural fluency mathematic was not fluent enough. It is proven by the students’ answers. Most of them made mistake in answering the circumference of a rectangle and in operating unlike terms. Moreover, the students also confused when and how to use the procedural in solving algebraic operations. They were not consistent in operating like terms and unlike terms. In addition, they could not explain the correct reasons in using the procedural mathematic to solve algebraic operations.  Keywords: Procedural Fluency, Problem Solving, Algebraic Operations

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemahaman konseptual siswa ditinjau dari tingkat kemampuan dasar siswa pada materi matriks. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini metode deskriptif dengan bentuk penelitian studi kasus. Subjek penelitian tediri dari 32 siswa kelas X Akutansi 4 SMKN 3 Pontianak. Data hasi penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman konseptual siswa tergolong rendah berdasarkan tiga indikator pemahaman konseptual yang digunakan. Siswa dengan tingkat kemampuan dasar tinggi hanya menguasai dua indikator, yaitu mampu mengklasifikasikan objek dalam operasi matriks menurut sifatnya dan mampu memberikan contoh dan bukan contoh dari konsep. Siswa dengan tingkat kemampuan dasar sedang menguasai satu indikator, yaitu mampu memberikan contoh dan bukan contoh dari konsep. Siswa dengan tingkat  kemampuan dasar rendah tidak menguasai tiga indikator yang digunakan, yaitu tidak mampu menyatakan ulang sebuah konsep, tidak mampu mengklasifikasikan objek dalam operasi matriks menurut sifat-sifat tertentu, dan tidak mampu memberikan contoh dan bukan contoh. Kata kunci: Pemahaman Konseptual, Tingkat Kemampuan Dasar Abstrak: The purpose of this research is to identify the students’ conceptual understanding that are reviewed from the students’ basic competency levels of the subject of matrix. The method that is used in this research is descriptive method in case study research’s mode. The Research subject consists of 32 students of “Kelas X Akutansi 4 SMK Negeri 3 Pontianak”. The data research result shows that students’ conceptual understanding are low because of based on three indicators of conceptual understanding that are used. The students’ with high basic competency levels only master two indicators, such as, enable to classify the object in matrix operation according to its feature, enable to give the examples, and not example of the concept. The students’ with intermediate basic competency levels only master one indicators, such as, enable to give the examples, and not example of the concept. The students with low basic competency levels do not master three indicators that are used, such as, unable to re-explain a concept, unable to classify the object in the matrix operation according to specific features, and unable to give the example and not example.
