Abstract

Pada suatu Lembaga dengan jalur Pendidikan formal dapat mempersiapkan lulusannya yang mempunyai keunggulan di dunia kerja, dengan diantaranya yaitu pada khususnya pada jalur Pendidikan kejurusan bidang kepariwisataan. Pendidikan kejuruan memiliki karakteristik yang berbeda dengan satuan pendidikan lainnya. Perbedaan tersebut dapat dikaji dari tujuan pendidikan, substansi pelajaran, tuntutan pendidikan dan lulusannya. Pengembangan Kepariwisataan dalam pendidikan kejuruan (vocational) merupakan suatu kebutuhan sangat penting pada masa mendatang. Pendidikan Kejuruan abad XXI terus dikembangkan seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi baik secara makro dan mikro dengan diiringi pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia untuk mendukung keberhasilan pendidikan kejuruan khususnya bidang kepariwisataan di Indonesuia. Indonesia menempatkan pendidikan kejuruan sebagai bagian dari sistem pendidikan nasional untuk menyiapkan lulusan bekerja atau melanjutkan kejenjang lebih tinggi atau bekerja mandiri berwirausaha. Terdapat beberapa tujuannya yang terdiri atas tiga aspek pokok, yaitu kompetensi kerja, karakter (kepribadian dan ahklak mulia) untuk hidup mandiri (life skills), dan berkembangnya karir melalui pendidikan kejuruan.

Abstract

The current pandemic situation has resulted in a change in learning methods from face to face to online methods, thus demanding of readiness of lecturers and students to be able to solve problems in order to achieve the learning objectives. In making this online-based tourism English learning method effective, the involvement of lecturers in preparing materials, students in receiving materials, and the use of technology is an inseparable unity. Online learning is an alternative learning method that utilizes the virtual world in the learning process. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the online-based English for Tourism teaching and learning process for students with a sample of 130 students taking English courses consisting of Room Division Management, Patisserie Management, Food & Beverage Management, and Tourism Destinations study programs. This type of research was experimental research with pre-experimental research design in the form of the one-shot case study. The instrument by distributing questionnaires was carried out online. Hypothesis testing used one sample t-test analysis with the help of SPSS. The results showed that online-based English for Tourism learning was effective. The results of inferential parametric statistical analysis obtained t-count 83,702 > t-table 1.97852, because the value of t-count was greater than α = 0.05 so H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. So, it could be concluded that the effectiveness of online learning of English for Tourism was effectively.

Abstract

The article is entitled the development of teacher careers in the field of vocational education. Vocational education aims to improve intelligence, knowledge, personality, noble character, and skills of students to live independently and participate in further education in accordance with the vocational program.The purpose of vocational education implies that vocational education prepares a professional workforce and also prepares students to be able to continue their education to a higher level or areas expertise. Data research is collected from some books and scientific articles referred to the research. Career development refers to the process of the developing values, skills, talents, interests, personality characteristic, and lifelong knowledge of the world of work. The role of the teacher is very important so that the development of a teacher’s career must be considered by the parties concerned for the advancement of education, especially vocational education in Indonesia.

Abstract

The community service program is designed to improve the ability and knowledge of business actors and tourism services through training held in Parapat and attended by twenty participants for business and tourism services. The methods used are socialization, tutorials, discussions, and field practice. The material includes the definition of toilets and their uses, types of toilets, cleaning and preparing guest bathrooms, techniques and procedures, and preparing and retooling bathrooms. The results of this training activity are expected that the participants can gain knowledge and skills in cleaning toilets.

Abstract

Untuk meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat khususnya pelayanan prima terhadap wisatawan domestik dan mancanegara, maka perlu dilakukan usaha-usaha sosialisasi dan pelatihan. Untuk itu, salah satu usaha tersebu adalah program pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilaksanakan oleh Jurusan perhotelan, Politeknik Pariwisata Medan pada tanggal 25-28 Februari 2020 dan diikuti oleh 30 (tiga puluh) peserta. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini melibatkan para dosen dan mahasiswa jurusan perhotelan Politeknik Pariwisata Medan. Metode yang digunakan dalam program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini meliputi metode sosialisasi, metode tutorial, dan metode diskusi. Hasil sosialisasi dan pelatihan ini membuat para peserta begitu antusias dan bersemangat dalam mengikuti program ini. Pada akhir acara, para peserta menyampaikan bahwa program ini sangat penting dan diharapkan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

The advancement of a tourist destination area must be supported by the level of quality and insight of Human Resources, namely insight into tourism activities, ability and skills to communicate and understand tourism with foreign tourists and domestic tourists. Based on the consideration of the potential for coastal tourism destinations as tourism areas, this community service program is designed to improve the competence of human resources, especially the management community with a focus on English for tourism competence. The objectives of this community service are (1) to help partners in service activities for community to solve problems related to tourism development and English for Tourism language skills, (2) to prepare tourism human resources who have English language competence, (3) to improve partnership relationships between institutions. The  results of  service activities for community that have been achieved consist of (a) tourism insight and community participation, (b) tourism English for Tourism language skills regarding coastal tourist destinations. Outcomes consist of an English for Tourism language tourism initiative, and the ability to converse in terms of explaining culinary variety, location maps and the natural beauty of coastal tourist destinations.

Abstract

This research is entitled the effect of English Capacity Building and Interest in English by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) managers on the quality of service in tourist destinations in Simalungun Regency. The purpose of this study was to determine how much influence English Capacity Building and Interest in English have on the quality of service in tourist destinations in Simalungun Regency. The research design used observation and quantitative research and the sample in this study was non-probability sampling, namely the accidental sampling technique. The number of samples was 109 respondents from MSME managers in Parapat, Simalungun Regency. Data collection techniques through direct observation. Data analysis was carried out in a quantitative descriptive manner using SPSS with the F test and t test. The results of the study show that firstly there is a significant effect of English Capacity Building for MSME managers on service quality, secondly there is a significant influence on the English language interest of MSME managers on service quality, and thirdly there is a significant influence on English Capacity Building and MSME managers' English interest in service quality. F significance value of 0.000 is smaller than 0.05 then Ho is rejected or the proposed hypothesis is accepted and the partial t-test shows a significant effect as seen from the significance values of 0.005 and 0.003 respectively, which are smaller than 0.05. Concluded that simultaneously the independent variables have a significant effect on the dependent variable.

Abstract

Salah satu lokasi di sektor pariwisata dimana pengunjung dapat berinteraksi dengan penduduk setempat adalah homestay. Selain itu, pemerintah Indonesia memiliki aturan untuk pembangunan fasilitas homestay. Oleh karena itu, pemilik homestay harus mempertimbangkan persepsi tamu tentang homestay. Pemilik dapat mengelola wismanya menggunakan pedoman manajemen homestay setelah mereka memiliki pemahaman dasar tentang konsep tersebut. Pengelolaan sumber daya fisik dan alam, manusia, lembaga, data, dan promosi merupakan komponen pengelolaan homestay dalam penelitian ini. Manajemen homestay yang profesional dapat memberikan kesempatan kepada penduduk setempat untuk mendorong pengunjung agar tinggal lebih lama dan menikmati pemandangan alam dan budaya di kota-kota wisata. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana pandangan masyarakat tentang homestay dan bagaimana homestay dijalankan di Desa Wisata Sawah Pematang Johar di Kabupaten Deli Serdang. Penambahan referensi studi wisata, khususnya yang berkaitan dengan pengelolaan homestay, merupakan kelebihan dari studi ini. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, dan metodologinya meliputi observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa sementara pemilik mengetahui ide homestay, dia tidak memiliki keterampilan manajemen. Di Desa Wisata Sawah Pematang Johar, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, pemilik penginapan sangat membutuhkan pelatihan tentang homestay dan pengelolaannya.

Abstract

Hotels are one of the mandatory accommodations. Optimal hotel management was a guide for every tourist to get comfort during their stay. This study aims to examine the performance of hotel managers in North Tapanuli regency through three variables: English capability, human resources development, and tourism destination.This study used a quantitative descriptive approach, with scoring and reduction data analysis techniques. The research samples were 50 hotel managers in North Tapanuli regency. Accidental sampling technique was used to select based on their categories. The sample was 50 respondents.The results showed English capacity building (X1) had a positive and significant effect on tourist destinations (X1) tcount 4.353 > ttable 2.01174 and a significant value of 4.353 > α 0.05, destination development (X2) had a positive and significant effect on tourist destination tcount 2,167 > ttable 1,992 and a significant value of 2,011 > α 0.05 and English capacity building (X1) and regional development (X2) simultaneously had a significant effect on tourist destinations (Y) that Fcount > Ftable or 26,285 > 3,200 and a significant level of 0.000 < 0.05. The research implications provide an overview of hotel performance in North Tapanuli as a reference in improving human resources development for hotel managers.

Abstract

Fasilitas kamar yang tersedia lengkap dan sesuai dengan keinginan wisatawan atau tamu yang menginap akan mendapatkan kepuasan tersendiri, sebaliknya ketidak puasan atau kecewa oleh tamu yang menginap jika fasilitas kamar yang tersedia kurang lengkap. Disamping itu juga fasilitas kamar yang terdapat didalam kamar tamu dapat menimbulkan persepsi yang positif atau negatif. Kepuasan tamu sangat dipengaruhi oleh fasilitas kamar yang disediakan oleh hotel, apakah sesuai atau tidak sesuai dengan keinginan tamu yang menginap. Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh fasilitas kamar yang meliputi fasilitas kamar tidur dan fasilitas kamar mandi terhadap kepuasan tamu menginap pada hotel berbintang di Parapat Kabupaten Simalungun Sumatera Utara. Metode penelitian yang digunakan berdasarkan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian menggunakan analisa statistik linier regresi berganda, dengan menggunakan teknik pengambilan sampel secara teknik Purpose-sampling 52 orang dari Hotel Berbintang di Parapat Kabupaten Simalungun Sumatera Utara. Penelitian ini menghasilkan bahwa variabel fasilitas kamar tidur (X1) terhadap kepuasan tamu menginap (Y) tidak berpengaruh signifikan sedangkan variabel fasilitas kamar mandi (X2) berpengaruh positif terhadap kepuasan tamu menginap (Y) dikarenakan perlengkapan kamar mandi tersedia lengkap dan sesuai dengan harapan tamu sehingga tamu merasa puas pada saat menginap. Sedangkan variabel fasilitas kamar tidur (X1) dan fasilitas kamar mandi (X2) tidak terdapat pengaruh X1dan X2 secara simultan terhadap kepuasan tamu menginap (Y).
