Abstract

Pelaku ekonomi kreatif di Sumatera Utara menghadapi permasalahan serius terkait keterbatasan pengetahuan tentang digital marketing. Ini menciptakan kesenjangan pengetahuan yang menghambat pertumbuhan bisnis mereka di era digital yang pesat. Terbatasnya akses pelatihan digital marketing menjadi tantangan tambahan. Tujuan utama dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah, untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan, mengukur efektivitas pelatihan, mendorong penggunaan tools digital marketing yang lebih efektif, dan untuk mendukung pertumbuhan ekonomi kreatif. Dalam hasil analisis, terlihat peningkatan yang signifikan dalam pemahaman peserta setelah mengikuti pelatihan pada beberapa pertanyaan kunci. Misalnya, pada Pertanyaan 2 tentang pentingnya pemahaman digital marketing, sebanyak 50% responden menyadari pentingnya sebelum pelatihan, dan setelah pelatihan, semua responden (100%) mengakui pentingnya pemahaman digital marketing. Hal yang serupa terjadi pada Pertanyaan 4 tentang manfaat segmentasi pasar dalam digital marketing produk ekonomi kreatif, di mana awalnya hanya 20% responden yang memahaminya, tetapi setelah pelatihan, 80% responden memahami manfaat tersebut. Demikian pula, Pertanyaan 5 mengenai media sosial sebagai saluran pemasaran utama awalnya hanya dikenal oleh 19% responden, tetapi setelah pelatihan, 93% responden memahami pentingnya media sosial dalam pemasaran. Selanjutnya, Pertanyaan 7 tentang pemasaran digital melalui media sosial menunjukkan bahwa 37% responden memahaminya sebelum pelatihan, dan angka ini meningkat menjadi 83% setelah pelatihan. Namun, terdapat juga hasil pre tes dengan peningkatan terendah, seperti Pertanyaan 1 tentang definisi digital marketing dan Pertanyaan 11 tentang konten kreatif dalam digital marketing, yang awalnya hanya dipahami oleh 30% dan 40% responden, secara berturut-turut. Peningkatan yang lebih rendah juga terlihat pada Pertanyaan 14 tentang Search Engine Optimization (SEO) dalam konteks pemasaran produk ekonomi kreatif, di mana hanya 13% responden yang memahaminya sebelum pelatihan. Selanjutnya, pada Pertanyaan 16 tentang pengiklanan online dalam produk ekonomi kreatif, hanya 40% responden yang memiliki pemahaman sebelum pelatihan. Terakhir, pada Pertanyaan 18 tentang e-commerce dalam pemasaran produk ekonomi kreatif, hanya 23% responden yang memahaminya sebelum pelatihan. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa meskipun pelatihan telah berhasil secara signifikan meningkatkan pemahaman dalam beberapa area kunci, masih ada potensi untuk perbaikan lebih lanjut dalam memahami definisi digital marketing, konten kreatif, SEO, pengiklanan online, dan e-commerce. Pelatihan ini berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman peserta tentang digital marketing, termasuk konsep dasar, manfaat, peran, dan aplikasi dalam bisnis ekonomi kreatif. Pemahaman yang ditingkatkan ini diharapkan membantu peserta memanfaatkan digital marketing secara lebih efektif, merancang strategi yang lebih baik, dan mengukur kinerja pemasaran mereka. Pelatihan ini merupakan langkah positif dalam mendukung pertumbuhan sektor ekonomi kreatif di Sumatera Utara di era digital yang terus berkembang.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and analyze the process of developing creative economy products, especially Bakatak Sirup, in Jongjong Stone Tourism Village. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. This research involves various parties involved in product development, including Bakatak fruit farmers, local businesses, and other stakeholders. This research focuses on the stages of product development, innovation in formulation and packaging, and the economic and social impact of the product on local communities. In-depth interview methods are used to gain views.  in-depth from business actors, while direct observations were made to contextually understand the production process of Bakatak Syrup. The results of this study are expected to provide a deep understanding of how the development of creative economy products can have a positive impact on the local economy and community involvement in the process. Qualitative analysis will be used to identify success factors, challenges faced, and implications of development of creative economy products in Jongjong Stone Tourism Village. This research is expected to contribute to the theoretical and practical understanding of the development of creative economy products at the local level, especially in the context of tourism villages. The findings of this study can be the basis for product developers, local governments, and related institutions to design policies that support the development of the creative economy in the area.

Abstract

Buluh Duri Tourism Village in Serdang Bedagai, North Sumatra, is a destination known for its unique MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) products, including traditional food and handicrafts. However, a major challenge for local MSMEs is enhancing the value of their products through attractive and functional packaging. This study analyzes the role of packaging in increasing the value and appeal of MSME products, particularly in the tourism market. Using a qualitative approach, data was collected through observations, interviews with MSME operators, and document reviews. A SWOT analysis was used to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats faced by MSMEs in improving their packaging. The findings indicate that attractive and informative packaging has a significant impact on consumers' purchasing decisions, especially among tourists. MSME products with modern, aesthetically pleasing packaging that reflects local culture and includes clear product information tend to attract more buyers and increase sales. However, limited knowledge and financial resources pose barriers for many local businesses in improving their packaging. The study suggests that continuous collaboration between local government, Pokdarwis (tourism awareness groups), and MSME operators is necessary to provide training and financial support for packaging development. Utilizing digital technology and social media as promotional tools is also recommended to enhance visibility and appeal. Additionally, eco-friendly packaging aligns with modern consumer trends.

Abstract

This article analyzes the impact of neoliberal policies on social welfare in developing countries, focusing on the implementation of free market principles, privatization, deregulation, and a reduced role of the state in the economy. While these policies aim to improve economic efficiency and growth, this research finds that neoliberal implementation in developing countries often exacerbates social inequality and reduces the poor's access to basic services such as health, education and social protection. The research identifies negative impacts such as public sector privatization that increases costs for low-income earners, deregulation that makes workers more vulnerable to exploitation, and social budget cuts that reduce the quality of services for marginalized groups. Although some countries experienced economic growth as a result of these policies, the unequal distribution of economic benefits led to increased social inequality. This article suggests the need for more inclusive and sustainable economic policies that can mitigate the negative impacts of neoliberalism, as well as strengthen social security and access to basic services in developing countries.

Abstract

Studi ini mengeksplorasi pemanfaatan UMKM kuliner lokal dan kearifan lokal dalam mempromosikan pengembangan desa wisata berkelanjutan, dengan fokus pada Desa Buluh Duri di Serdang Bedagai, Sumatera Utara. Dikenal karena daya tarik alamnya, termasuk arung jeram di Sungai Bah Bolon dan situs unik seperti Green Canyon dan Air Terjun Bahgula, Buluh Duri menawarkan pengalaman kaya bagi wisatawan yang berakar pada alam dan budaya lokal. Penelitian ini menganalisis bagaimana UMKM kuliner lokal meningkatkan pemberdayaan ekonomi desa dengan menawarkan pengalaman gastronomi tradisional yang mendukung mata pencaharian lokal, sementara kearifan lokal, yang mencakup adat istiadat, tradisi, dan praktik lingkungan, berkontribusi pada pelestarian budaya dan pengembangan pariwisata berkelanjutan. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui wawancara, observasi, dan diskusi kelompok fokus, studi ini menganalisis peran, tantangan, dan peluang yang terkait dengan integrasi bisnis kuliner lokal dan kearifan lokal ke dalam kerangka desa wisata. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa UMKM kuliner dan kearifan lokal mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi, pelestarian budaya, dan partisipasi masyarakat, meskipun menghadapi tantangan dalam infrastruktur, pemasaran, dan pengembangan kapasitas. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan berharga bagi pemerintah daerah, penduduk desa, dan akademisi, menawarkan strategi untuk meningkatkan potensi pariwisata desa dan mempertahankan identitas budaya uniknya. Rekomendasi untuk perbaikan infrastruktur, pemasaran digital, pelatihan bagi operator UMKM, dan manajemen lingkungan bertujuan untuk lebih memperkuat Buluh Duri sebagai desa wisata berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas perempuan dalam sektor pariwisata melalui pemasaran digital dan diversifikasi produk di desa wisata sekitar Destinasi Super Prioritas Danau Toba. Program ini difokuskan pada pemberdayaan perempuan dalam pengelolaan produk wisata lokal, dengan memberikan pengetahuan mengenai pentingnya pemasaran digital dan pengembangan produk yang dapat meningkatkan daya saing desa wisata. Peserta kegiatan ini terdiri dari 30 orang perempuan pegiat wisata yang berasal dari berbagai desa wisata di sekitar Danau Toba. Metode pelaksanaan terdiri dari identifikasi awal, pelatihan, diskusi, dan praktik langsung mengenai penggunaan media sosial untuk pemasaran produk serta diversifikasi produk wisata untuk menarik lebih banyak wisatawan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan antusiasme peserta untuk mengimplementasikan pemasaran melalui media sosial, khususnya Instagram dan TikTok, serta kesadaran tentang pentingnya diversifikasi produk dalam memperkaya pengalaman wisata. Diharapkan program ini dapat memberikan kontribusi positif terhadap perkembangan desa wisata, memperkuat peran perempuan, dan meningkatkan daya saing destinasi pariwisata di Danau Toba.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of regional development planning and financial management on the sustainability of homestay-based tourism villages, community empowerment, and service quality & economic performance, with synergy/integration serving as a mediating variable. Using a quantitative approach and the SEM-PLS method, data were collected from 101 homestay managers and tourism village stakeholders. The results reveal that both regional development planning and financial management have significant positive effects on synergy/integration among stakeholders. Furthermore, synergy/integration strongly enhances the sustainability of tourism villages, empowers the local community, and improves service quality and economic outcomes. Mediation analysis confirms that the positive impacts of planning and financial management on key outcomes are primarily realized through synergy/integration. These findings highlight the critical role of stakeholder collaboration and integration in achieving sustainable, empowering, and high-performing tourism villages. The study offers practical recommendations for strengthening collaboration, capacity building, and policy development to support the long-term success of homestay-based tourism villages.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how service excellence can improve customer satisfaction at Hotel Saka Medan using a SWOT analysis tool. In the hospitality industry, service quality is a major determinant of business success in attracting and retaining customers. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method and data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that Hotel Saka Medan has several key strengths in the service aspect, but also faces several external challenges and internal weaknesses that need to be addressed. Recommended strategies based on SWOT are directed at maintaining strengths, overcoming weaknesses, capitalizing on opportunities, and anticipating threats.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merumuskan strategi pengembangan diversifikasi atraksi wisata berbasis budaya dan alam di Desa Wisata Lumban Suhi-Suhi Toruan (Dewi Lusi). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif studi kasus, dimana data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Wawancara dilakukan kepada 5 informan dari perwakilan desa, pengrajin ulos, wisatawan dan pegiat wisata lokal. Analisis menggunakan pendekatan tematik dengan analisis  Business Model Canvas (BMC). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengembangan Pantai Lumban Manik sebagai atraksi wisata baru dapat memperluas portofolio atraksi Dewi Lusi, memperpanjang lama tinggal wisatawan, dan memperkuat positioning Dewi Lusi sebagai desa wisata budaya. Strategi pengembangan atraksi baru yang inklusif, berbasis kearifan lokal, serta integratif dengan atraksi budaya yang ada berkontribusi positif terhadap keberlanjutan pariwisata dan pemberdayaan masyarakat. Kata kunci : diversifikasi atraksi, desa wisata, desa wisata budaya, BMC, Danau Toba ABSTRACT This study aims to formulate a strategy for developing diversified cultural and natural attractions in the Lumban Suhi-Suhi Toruan Tourism Village (Dewi Lusi). Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Thematic analysis and business model mapping using the Business Model Canvas (BMC) framework were applied. The findings indicate that the development of Pantai Lumban Manik as a new tourism attraction can expand Dewi Lusi's attraction portfolio, extend tourist length of stay, and strengthen Dewi Lusi’s positioning as a cultural tourism village. The strategy for developing new attractions emphasizes inclusiveness, integration with existing cultural assets, and a foundation in local wisdom, all of which contribute positively to tourism sustainability and community empowerment. Keywords: attraction diversification, tourism village, cultural tourism village, BMC, Lake Toba.

Abstract

This study concern to examine how to implement strategies to increase the occupancy of Budget Hotels around Pantai Paris, Simalungun Regency. The method used in this study was purposive sampling taken intentionally. The analysis tool used is SWOT Analysis which consists of IE Matrices, IFAS/EFAS, and SWOT/TOWS Matrices. From this research, it is known that the Pantai Paris Budget Hotel Simalungun Regency is currently in quadrant I IFAS 1,665 EFAS 1,020, the strategy that needs to be done is the S – O (Strength – Opportunity) strategy, which is a strategy that takes advantage of the opportunities / strengths owned by the Budget Hotel. Alternative strategies are: Maintaining good relations with the local community, Brand positioning as a good hotel, Increasing cooperation with cuttings holders, Providing excellent service to guests, Analyzing room quality and prices for similar hotels, Utilizing technological advances, Rearrangement of every hotel facility from rooms to public facilities, Making training to employees (appearance, service), Rearranging every hotel facility from rooms to public facilities in the hotel needs to be done to maintain the quality of the hotel, Making training that refers to technological developments.
