Abstract

In the Bojongmalaka area, the people have difficulty with clean water. The water condition there is murky and yellow so it is not suitable for use. On the basis of that problem, the executor of community service grant from Widyatama University collaborated between Mechanical Engineering study program and Information Systems Study program to try to serve the community to solve this clean water problem and the result is a water filter applied to Bojongmalaka village community with the hope of helping solve the problem of clean water in the village of Bojongmalaka. This activity involves lecturers and students at Widyatama University. Stages of Implementation of Devotion is done with Problem Identification, Tool Making, Socialization, Implementation, Assistance and Evaluation, Evaluation of program implementation, Program Sustainability. Based on the questionnaire distributed to the community, 51 % of the community used digging wells, 63 % treated the water so that it was safe to drink, and 88.9 % of the water was clear, odorless. Bojongmalaka village head Dedi Dermawan and residents are very enthusiastic about this activity can help the problems faced by residents. The head of Bojongmalaka village thanked Widyatama University and the Director-General of Dikti Ristek for their funding in 2021. Dedi hoped that similar activities could be continued for other problems in Bojongmalaka village..

Abstract

This project addresses critical water resource challenges in urban areas, particularly in Bandung City, Indonesia, where increased demand due to a high population exacerbates groundwater depletion and clean water scarcity. The area of focus is RW 11, Kel. Sukaluyu, Cibeunying Kaler District, which suffers notably from droughts and a significant lack of clean water. The proposed solution involves the development of portable, home-scale technology for the treatment and reuse of greywater and rainwater. This innovative approach is designed to decrease reliance on groundwater and provide a reliable water source during dry seasons. Additionally, the project aims to educate the local community in RW 11 about the importance of maintaining the groundwater cycle. The ultimate goal is to alleviate water scarcity in the area, especially during drought periods, thereby contributing to sustainable water resource management in urban contexts.

Abstract

This Community Service aims to guide understanding of human nature which is closely related to self-identity. The problem of not understanding the true meaning of themselves leads young people not clearly to understand their identity and life goals. For this reason, this community service is carried out, so that it can foster and contribute to Christian youth, especially teenage youth in the Toho District area, Memapawah Regency, West Kalimantan. The method used in this activity is the lecture method through material presented at spiritual building services and interactions during seminars. The result of this Community Service is that young people gain the correct knowledge about Christian identity so that they are no longer confused and fall into wrong concepts, the young generation also expresses a shared commitment to maintaining a holy life, being a light and being a witness in the midst of society. Dengan alasan inilah, pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini dilaksanakan, supaya dapat membina dan memberikan kontribusi kepada kaum muda Kristen secara khusus pemuda remaja di wilayah Kecamatan Toho, Kabupaten Memapawah, Kalimantan Barat. Adapun metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah metode Ceramah melalui materi yang disampaikan pada kebaktian lebangunan Rohani dan interaksi pada saat seminar. Hasil Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini adalah kaum muda mendapatkan pengetahuan yang benar tentang jati diri Kristen sehingga mereka tidak lagi bingung dan terjerumus dengan konsep yang salah, generasi muda juga menyatakan komitmen bersama untuk menjaga hidup kudus, menjadi terang dan menjadi saksi ditengah-tengah masyarakat.  Kaum muda juga memberikan respon positif untuk terlibat di dalam pelayanan di gereja masing-masing. Kata Kunci: gereja; jati diri; pemuda kristen, teologi

Abstract

Utilizing the use of the Learning Management System can help the Skills Institute at LPK Sulthoon 4M in facilitating online learning. The learning management system implemented on a virtual private server (VPS) aims to use a more economical server. The research method used is the Waterfall Prototype method which involves gathering requirements, building a prototype, evaluating the system, testing the system, evaluating the system and using the system. The Learning Management System runs on Moodle software which is used by admins, course instructors and students. This Moodle software accelerates and facilitates students learning online without time limits. From the research results, this system makes it easier for students to study courses at training institutions and courses by applying information technology.

Abstract

Sepeda Motor Sesuai fungsinya sebagai alat transportasi ringan kendaraan bermotor harus memenuhi standar desain keselamatan dan keamanan bagi penggunanya, shock absorber merupakan komponen yang didesain untuk meredam getaran akibat guncangan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) menghitung nilai koefisien pegas pada sepeda motor (2) menghitung simpanan hasil perhitungan dan pengujian. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode Desain Eksperimen yaitu melakukan pengujian untuk mendapatkan data selanjutnya mengolahnya menggunakan teori getaran bebas, dan mengitung nilai k & simpangan menggunakan teori. Dari hasil penelitian dan analisis yang dilakukan dapat diperoleh karakteristik pengaruh getaran. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan, nilai k pada pegas diperkirakan sebesar ± 18 KN/m dan simpangan maksimum ± 12 cm. (2) Berdasarkan hasil pengujian nilai k pada pegas dihasilkan ± 24,6 KN/m dan simpangan maksimum ± 4,0 cm

Abstract

The need for clean water increases every year, while the means to provide clean water require planning. The importance of water in the realm of education is comparable to that of household needs. Water on the 3rd and 4th floors of Building A often doesn't flow. The aim of this research is to identify the root cause of the insufficient water flow on the 3rd and 4th floors of Widyatama University Building A, and to devise a solution for the water flow distribution system. The research employs a variety of methods, including literature review, data collection, data analysis, results analysis, and interpretation. The conclusion is that the water drainage on the 3rd and 4th floors is 0.612 L/s and 0.510 L/s, which is below the standard (0.9–2 L/s). The drainage of water in the main pipe was uncertain based on its diameter. The solution to this problem is to install booster pumps on the 3rd and 4th floors. The next solution is to change the main pipe diameter to 1 1⁄4".

Abstract

Penggunaan air dengan kadar garam tinggi sering menjadi masalah di daerah pedesaan, seperti Desa Cibenda. Kadar garam yang tinggi dapat menyebabkan korosi pada peralatan logam, mengurangi umur pakai, dan menimbulkan kerugian. Proyek pengabdian ini memperkenalkan detektor konsentrasi garam pada air yang digunakan masyarakat sebagai langkah preventif mengatasi masalah ini. Metode yang digunakan meliputi survei kualitas air, pengembangan dan penerapan detektor konsentrasi garam sederhana, serta penyuluhan tentang pentingnya penggunaan air berkualitas dengan alat salinity meter yang dimodifikasi. Pemahaman masyarakat diukur melalui partisipasi aktif dalam penyuluhan. Meskipun edukasi hanya dilakukan sekali, diharapkan pemahaman masyarakat tetap terjaga melalui pemantauan berkelanjutan. Hasil penerapan detektor menunjukkan bahwa alat ini efektif membantu masyarakat mengidentifikasi dan mengontrol kadar garam dalam air serta mengurangi risiko korosi pada peralatan logam. Pengabdian ini diharapkan memberikan manfaat praktis bagi masyarakat Desa Cibenda dan menjadi contoh bagi daerah lain dengan masalah serupa, serta meningkatkan kualitas hidup dan memperpanjang umur pakai peralatan logam di lingkungan pedesaan. The use of water with high salt content is often a problem in rural areas, such as Cibenda Village. High salt levels can cause corrosion on metal equipment, reducing its lifespan and leading to financial losses. To address this issue, this community service project introduces a salt concentration detector for water used by local residents as a preventive measure. The methods used include conducting a water quality survey, developing and implementing a simple salt concentration detector, and providing education on the importance of using quality water with a modified salinity meter. Community understanding is measured through active participation during the outreach session. Although the education was conducted only once, it is expected that the community’s awareness will remain sustained through ongoing monitoring. The implementation of the detector showed that this tool effectively helps the community identify and control salt levels in their water, thereby reducing the risk of corrosion on metal equipment. This project is expected to provide practical benefits for the residents of Cibenda Village and serve as a model for other areas with similar issues, ultimately improving quality of life and extending the lifespan of metal equipment in rural communities.

Abstract

Daarul Amal Playgroup (KOBER), an early childhood education establishment situated in Bandung City, plays a pivotal role in fostering an intelligent and healthy generation.  Nonetheless, despite its significant role in educating children, this institution encounters some obstacles, particularly with the quality of water utilized in everyday operations.  This community service initiative seeks to enhance water quality at KOBER Daarul Amal by instructing students on the significance of clean water and implementing a filtration system utilizing three filter media: zeolite, ferrolite, and activated charcoal.  The outcomes of the educational initiatives for students indicated an increased awareness regarding the significance of clean water. The outcomes of educational initiatives indicate that students have increased their awareness regarding the significance of clean water. Furthermore, the implementation of water filtration has enhanced the water quality at the site, as demonstrated by the initial TDS test results, which ranged from 455.3  ppm to 359,7 ppm, and the turbidity value, which decreased from 4.50 NTU to 4.48 NTU. In addition, based on the results of the questionnaire given to the teachers, it can also be concluded that this community service activity has met its targets.
