Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this activity is to provide information about how the Prospect of Palm Plant Development (Arenga pinnata Merr) for food and energy security as well as processed products from palm trees, so that it is useful for the community, encouraging community awareness and awareness to preserve the environment. This activity was carried out in Buluh Awar Village, Sibolangit District, Deli Serdang Regency, involving the community in Buluh Awar Village and the Teaching Staff of the Agrotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, Biology Education Study Program, Teaching and Education Faculty, Labuhan Batu University, Postgraduate Study Program in Agrotechnology, Faculty Agriculture of the University of North Sumatra and the Faculty of Forestry of the University of North Sumatra. Agrotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Muhammadiyah University, South Tapanuli, Agrotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Graha Nusantara University, Padang Sidempuan. The main problem is the planting of sugar palm, which is generally not yet cultivated so that crop productivity is low and it is feared the plant population will decline. Since sugar palm plants have economic, social, cultural and conservation functions, it is wise to cultivate sugar palm and rehabilitate plants that grow naturally and irregularly in order to increase plant productivity. The results of the activity show that the cultivation of palm sugar plant has good hopes or prospects in the future. Processed products from palm plants such as sugar, drinks, and vinegar can be used to improve food security, while bioethanol can be used as an alternative energy source.

Abstract

The opening of new areas should be investigated so that land resources can be used to determine the suitability of the land on certain uses so that APL land use (Other Area of Use) in Salak Sub-district needs to be supported with information on land suitability. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the characteristics of the APL land suitability level, to analyze improvement efforts to increase productivity and to create an actual land suitability map and potential land suitability for Wetland rice on APL land in Kecamatan Salak. The research method used the survey method. Unit of land-based on land map. Research data were analyzed using the matching method. Characteristics of the land in Salak District both physical and chemical properties have very diverse characteristics that can be inhibiting or supporting factors in the development of agricultural crops, especially the development of rice paddy. Temperature regime limiting factor (tc), rooting medium (rc), erosion hazard (eh). Improvement efforts that can be done are pelumpuran, giving of organic material, making of the terrace, and fertilizing. Temperature regime can not be repaired

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman aksesi aren yang tersebar di Kabupaten Tapanuli Selatan dan mengelompokkan populasi seleksi untuk mendapatkan produksi yang tinggi. Delapan puluh aksesi aren populasi alam asal empat kecamatan telah di identifikasi menurut IPGRI (International Plant Genetic Resources Institute, 1995) dan dianalisis. Hasil menunjukkan terbentuknya 4 cluster yang disimpulkan bahwa cluster 1 merupakan kelompok aksesi aren dengan karakter fenotip yang sesuai untuk memproduksi buah dari mayang bunga betina. Sedangkan cluster 3 merupakan kelompok aksesi aren dengan karakter fenotip yang sesuai untuk memproduksi nira (bahan baku gula aren) dari mayang bunga jantan.

Abstract

Identification Phenotypic Character of the Leaves Palm Plant in South Tapanuli Regency This studyaims to determine the effect of the phenotype character of palm leaf leaves on the production of roomiein wild populations of natural habitats in South Tapanuli Regency. The study was conducted in fivevillages in each oft he four sub-districts in the South Tapanuli district. Two hundred sugar palm plantsoriginating from four natural habitats have been identified in accordance with plant identificationprocedures issued by the IPGRI (International Plant Genetic Resources Institute, 1995) and analyzed.The results show that 4 clusters were formed with 75% similarity or 25% diversity. These results canbe concluded that cluster 1 is the population of palm plants that have the long character of petioleand the highest number of unproductive leaves. Whereas the characters of leaf length and rachis lengthare still lower than the population of sugar palm plants in cluster 4. Cluster 2 is the population of sugarpalm plants that has the highest character of sap production per day. Cluster 3 is a population ofpalm plants that have the highest leaf width character. Cluster 4 is a population of palm plants thathave the highest leaf length and rachis length with the highest number of leaflets and the largest rachiscircumference and petiole circumference. The number of productive leaves and the percentage of sapsugar content above average.

Abstract

Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keberadaan hama penggerek cabang dan batang, insidensi serangan yang berupa data jumlah dan panjang gerekan serta untuk mengetahui ciri-ciri gejala serangan yang ditimbulkan oleh  hama penggerek cabang dan batang tanaman mangga di Kecamatan Padangsidimpuan Batunadua. Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di dua desa di kecamatan Padangsidimpuan Batunadua yaitu desa Pudun Julu dan Aek Tuhul. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan sifat deskriptif dengan tehnik pengumpulan data secara observasi dan dokumentasi. Tehnik sampling yang digunakan dalam penentuan sampel tanaman dilakukan secara Purposive Sampling yaitu pengambilan sumber data dengan pertimbangan tertentu. Pada tiap desa, ditentukan 20 sampel tanaman secara acak dengan demikian total tanaman mangga yang diamati sebanyak 40 tanaman. Parameter yang diamati adalah keberadaan hama penggerek cabang dan batang tanaman mangga, insidensi serangan dan gejala serangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keberadaan hama penggerek cabang dan batang tanaman mangga yang tertinggi adalah desa Aek Tuhul , sebanyak 15 (75%) terserang dan 5 (25%) tanaman mangga tidak terserang dan terendah adalah desa Pudun Julu  dengan tanaman mangga yang tidak terserang  13 (65%) dan hanya 7 (35%) terserang.

Abstract

Pengabdian berfokus untuk mengevaluasi ketertarikan praktisi ternak lokal dalam melakukan wirausaha bidang peternakan khususnya di Desa Simapilapil dan Sitaratoit. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 40 peternak yang belum diketahui tingkat kedalaman informasi dalam beternak. Peternak yang dimaksud merupakan penduduk produktif dengan rentan umur 25-45 tahun. Penetapan lokasi pengabdian didasarkan pada potensi tanaman Salak yang dapat menghasilkan limbah sebagai pakan alternatif ternak. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan berbasis pelatihan dan tindakan survei pemanfaatan kuesioner likert. Unit kegiatan dalam pelaksanaan pengabdian merupakan kelompok tani Satahi Saoloan dan kelompok peternak lokal Sitaratoit. Hasil pengabdian terlihat bahwa peternak berada dalam kategori baik terhadap aspek perencanaan dan komponen berwirausaha ternak. Kesiapan dinyatakan dalam indeks diatas 85%. Kemudian, terhadap kedua desa yang dievaluasi, terlihat bahwa level persepsi wirausaha ternak berada pada indeks hampir 78% (kategori baik), hal ini diasumsikan bahwa tidak sedikit dari total responden memiliki ketertarikan dalam melaksanakan usaha peternakan. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa faktor yang dievaluasi menunjukkan regresi linear dalam penerapan usaha ternak.

Abstract

Pargarutan Dolok merupakan suatu desa dengan mata pencaharian utamanya adalah bertani. Desa tersebut dominan Petani Kopi. Kegiatan pengabdian di Desa tersebut dengan tujuan memecahkan suatu masalah pada tanaman kopi milik petani. Kopi tersebut terlah terserang hama dan ketika digunakan senyawa kimia hama yang muncul sudah mengalami resistesi sehingga diperlukan senyawa alami. Penggunaan agen hayati yaitu Beauveria bassiana sangat baik digunakan karena memiliki fungsi dalam menekan populasi Organisme Pengganggu Tanaman (OPT) sampai pada level yang tidak merugikan secara ekonomis, denga demikian produksi tetap berada pada level tinggi. Melalui kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dapat bermanfaat dalam penggunaan Beauveria bassiana sebagai agen hayati dalam usaha pertanian berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Desa Situmba Julu merupakan salah satu desa yang ada di kecamatan Sipirok, Tapanuli Selatan, Sumatra Utara, Indonesia dengan mata pencaharian adalah petani. Tanaman Padi adalah tanaman yang paling banyak pada desa tersebut. Pupuk menjadi permasalahan utama pada budidaya tanaman padi di desa ini. Pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan di Desa tersebut bertujuan menyelesaikan masalah penggunaan pupuk sintetik yang terus menerus. Pupuk yang dibutuhkan dalam budidaya tanaman padi memiliki harga yang mahal, sehingga kita perlu memanfaatkan kotoran ayam menjadi pupuk kandang menjadi salah satu alternative mengurangi biaya pupuk. Melaui kegiatan yang dilakukan dapat meningkatkan produksi tanaman padi dengan mengapikasikan pupuk kandang ayam di lahan persawahan di Desa Situmba Julu Kecamatan Sipirok.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the production yield of cayenne papper (capsicum frutescens L.) using cocopeat growing media in pots. The method used in this study was a non-factorial randomized block design (RAK) using cocopeat as a planting medium whit a level of A0: rop soil + goat manure (9 kg/pot + 1 kg/pot), A1 : cocopeat + goat manure (5 kg/pot + 1 kg/pot), A2 : top soil + cocopeat + goat manure ( 5 kg/pot + 5 kg/pot + 1 kg/pot). Based on the results of research that has been carried out, cocopeat planting media 5 kg/pot + goat manure 1 kg/pot is the best combination of planting media from all planting media treatments that have been tested in this tudy, the number of flower the number of productive branches, the number of fruit, and fruit weigh of cayenne pepper. It is recommended to use a maxture of cocopeat an goat manure growing media (A1 treatment) and soak the cocopeat longer than what has been done ( 3 days). Key words: cayenne  pepper, cocopeat, produktivity

Abstract

This study aims to determine and complete the database related to the productivity level of male palm flower stalks in producing sap in wild populations of natural habitats in the South Tapanuli Regency. The research was conducted in 2 villages in 4 districts with a total sample of 40 palm plants. The stages in this research were carried out in three stages. The first stage is a survey sampling carried out by purposive sampling, namely the sampling technique to be used as a sample based on existing criteria, namely: 1. The shape of the stalk, 2. Color of a stalk, 3. Color of series, 4. Color of sap, 5. Length of stalk, 6 7. Stalk Diameter, and 7. Nira Production Data. The second stage is the data collection on the productivity of male palm flower stalks at all levels of the stem in producing sap. The third stage is a productivity data analysis. The results showed that the productivity of male flower stalks at each stalk level was in accordance with the amount of production and weight of sugar produced. Male flower stalk I have the highest amount of sap production and sugar weight followed by stalk levels II, III, IV, and V. Male flower stalk I have the best productivity of all levels of the male flower stalk, after that there is a decrease in the production of sap and sugar for productivity. Male flower stalks II, III, IV, and V. Productivity of the best male flower stalks produced an average sap production of 968.55 liters/stalk and an average sugar weight of 526.79 kg.
