Abstract

The Effect of Elderly Exercise on Reducing Blood Pressure in Hypertension Sufferers in South Salu Paremang Village, Kamanre District, Luwu Regency in 2023." Hypertension is a medical condition with a high prevalence, where global hypertension cases are estimated at 22% of the total world population. In 2015 it was estimated that 1 in 4 men and 1 in 5 women suffered from hypertension (WHO, 2019). Based on data obtained from the Kamanre Community Health Center in Luwu Regency in 2022, the prevalence of the elderly population is 107 people, of which 64 elderly people suffer from hypertension. The high incidence of hypertension requires health workers to take preventive measures. In addition to using conventional treatment, hypertension in the elderly can also be treated with non-conventional treatment, one of which is elderly exercise. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of elderly exercise on reducing blood pressure in hypertension sufferers in South Salu Paremang Village, Kamanre District, Luwu Regency in 2023. This research design uses a quantitative design with a (quasi-experimental) approach with a one group pretest posttest design. The sample in this study was 21 elderly people aged 45 years and over. The results showed that most of the patients were 17 women (81.0%) and 4 men (19.0%). The average age of 41-50 years is 14 people (66.7%). The average systolic blood pressure before and after elderly exercise shows a Z value of -4.078 and the average diastolic blood pressure before and after elderly exercise shows a Z value of -3.375. This is based on the results of the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showing that there is an effect of elderly exercise on patients on reducing blood pressure (?=0.000).

Abstract

Abstract

Hemodynamic status is regulated by the medulla oblongata and is influenced by systemic stimulation. In this study, unconscious (comatose) patients in the ICU of RSUD Kaimana received classical and instrumental music therapy as a form of auditory stimulation to support cerebral perfusion and promote hemodynamic stability. This quantitative study employed a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent time sample approach. A total of 35 respondents were selected through simple random sampling. The independent variables were classical and instrumental music therapies, while the dependent variables were hemodynamic parameters, including respiratory rate (RR), systolic and diastolic blood pressure, mean arterial pressure (MAP), heart rate (HR), and oxygen saturation (SpO₂). Data were collected through observation and questionnaires and analyzed using the Independent T-Test with SPSS. Before the intervention, the average RR was 25.93 (range: 14–35), systolic blood pressure 116.40 mmHg (98–144), diastolic 70.60 mmHg (52–94), MAP 87.67 mmHg (71–111), SpO₂ 98% (94–100), and HR 98 bpm (64–135). The analysis showed a p-value of 0.001 (< 0.05) for both classical and instrumental music interventions, indicating that H₀ was rejected and H₁ accepted. Thus, both types of music therapy significantly influenced the hemodynamic status of comatose patients in the ICU.

Abstract

Introduction: Community health is an important foundation in improving the quality of life of the community as a whole. Family caregivers are the vanguard in promoting health, preventing disease, and empowering families to be agents of change. A holistic approach focusing on physical, emotional, social, and environmental aspects has optimised community health outcomes. This study aims to analyze a wide range of literature on family nursing interventions with a holistic approach to improving community health. Methods: This study uses a systematic literature review method. The studied articles were obtained from electronic databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and CINAHL, with a publication range between 2015 and 2025. The keywords include family nursing, community health, holistic approach, and nursing intervention. Selection was made based on inclusion criteria: empirical research articles, a focus on the role of family caregivers, and the application of a holistic approach. A total of 35 selected articles were analyzed using a narrative synthesis approach to identify key themes. Results: The study shows that a holistic approach in family nursing practice consistently contributes to improved healthy living behaviours, family-based management of chronic diseases, and increased access to primary health services. Key success factors include strengthening therapeutic relationships between nurses and families, using empathy-based communication, and actively involving families in the health decision-making process. Conclusions: This literature review reinforces the evidence that optimizing the role of family caregivers through a holistic approach can improve community health effectively and sustainably. To support the sustainability of these practices, there is a need for specialized training for family nurses and the integration of family-based strategies in community health policies.

Abstract

Introduction: The increasing prevalence of chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease demands a more adaptive and sustainable healthcare system. Community-based care programs and home care are becoming increasingly relevant approaches to holistically improving patients' quality of life. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of community care and home care programs in improving the quality of life of patients with chronic diseases. Research Methodology: This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. Respondents consisted of 120 patients diagnosed with chronic disease divided into two groups: intervention (receiving community care and home care for 12 weeks) and control (conventional care). Quality of life was measured using the WHOQOL-BREF instrument before and after the intervention. Results: Results showed a significant improvement in the physical, psychological, social, and environmental dimensions of quality of life in the intervention group compared to the control group (p < 0.05). The most contributing factors were active family involvement and ongoing education by community health workers. Conclusion: Community care and home care programs effectively improve the quality of life of chronic disease patients. This approach is feasible to develop as part of a long-term chronic disease management strategy, especially in areas with limited access to health facilities
