Abstract

This article discusses the learning difficulties experienced by mathematics education students. Learning difficulties are a common challenge faced by students in the learning process, but for mathematics education students, these learning difficulties can have more complex implications. This article aims to identify factors that can cause learning difficulties for mathematics education students, as well as finding effective solutions to overcome these problems. This research uses qualitative methods by conducting interviews and observations of mathematics education students who experience learning difficulties. The research results show that factors such as a lack of understanding of mathematical concepts, anxiety about mathematics, and lack of motivation in learning are the main causes of learning difficulties for mathematics education students. To overcome these learning difficulties, this research recommends an approach that focuses on developing understanding of mathematical concepts, reducing anxiety about mathematics through a more interactive and creative approach, and providing appropriate motivation in the learning process. Apart from that, forming study groups and providing individual guidance are also considered effective in helping students overcome their learning difficulties. It is hoped that this article can provide a deeper understanding of the learning difficulties of mathematics education students and provide recommendations that can help improve the quality of mathematics learning for mathematics education students.

Abstract

The increasing need for the use of technology in all sectors, especially in the education sector, is the formation of student-oriented learning. This provides new challenges in the 21st century which now require students to mature not only in science and simple thought processes but also the ability to create and develop what is needed in the 21st century. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology declares that participants Students must have Computational Skills (CT). To obtain problem-solving skills, students should emphasize computational learning in elementary schools so that students are able to face existing challenges and have computational skills from an early age. One technology that is suitable for application in elementary school learning is Scratch, a programming application designed specifically for beginners, especially children. The author's aim in conducting this research was to analyze the computational abilities of elementary school students using Scarch. The method the author uses is the Review Literature Study method, by reviewing previous journals related to the topic the author discusses.

Abstract

This study examines ethnomathematics in traditional tools of the Malay ethnic group at the North Sumatra Provincial Museum, encompassing ceremonial and livelihood tools. The research employs a qualitative approach using ethnographic methods to explore the mathematical concepts embedded in these objects. Ceremonial tools such as bentan, tiered trays, incense burners, and glass holders were analyzed based on geometric concepts such as circles, cylinders, ratios, and sequences, while livelihood tools such as goat hoofs, horns, sickle, and one-sided fish traps represent spatial geometry, symmetry, and volume concepts. The findings reveal that these traditional objects not only serve practical purposes but also contain mathematical and philosophical values reflecting Malay culture. These tools can be utilized as context-based mathematics learning media, helping students understand mathematics through the lens of local culture. This study emphasizes the significant role of ethnomathematics in integrating education with cultural preservation while strengthening local identity in the era of globalization.

Abstract

This study examines the application of network models in daily life using a systematic literature review (SLR) method. Network models are mathematical approaches that aid in solving various optimization problems such as shortest routes, minimum spanning trees, and maximum flows. Findings reveal that the Floyd-Warshall and Dijkstra algorithms are applied for route navigation, Prim's algorithm for distribution efficiency, and the Edmonds-Karp algorithm for optimizing resource flows like water. This research highlights the significance of network models in enhancing operational efficiency, sustainability, and accessibility across various domains such as transportation, logistics, and resource management. With the integration of modern technology, network models hold significant potential for developing innovative solutions in everyday life.

Abstract

Mathematics plays an important role in improving students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. However, mathematics learning using conventional learning models often fails to stimulate an increase in students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. This study investigated the effect of the Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a quantitative approach. The population in this study included all eighth-grade students of UPT SPF SMP Negeri 8 Percut Sei Tuan with a total of 185 students. This study involved an experimental class taught using the Missouri Mathematics Project learning model and a control class with a conventional learning model. The results showed that the mathematical problem-solving abilities of students who used the Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model improved more than those who used the conventional learning model. This indicates that the Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model has an effect on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities.
