Abstract

Marking machining processes using lasers have developed in the industrial world. Having high precision and good final quality is one of the advantages of this laser machine. There is a thermal effect generated in the process, so we must understand the impact of the power applied to the material. Carry out the laser marking process with the engraving method on a stainless steel plate material which is given a variation of strength to observe the difference in the final result of a marking. Make as many as 3 pcs of products for each variation of power parameters. The product that has been produced will also be observed for surface roughness on the marking, which aims to find out how deep the food is from the marking. Observation of the surface roughness of the marking on the product using the Surface Roughness Tester 3 times for each product. The results of the data that have been taken will only be observed and entered into the marking results into the roughness class according to ISO or DIN 4763:1981. The marking process uses power variations of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100%. The results of the marking with the lowest power of 20% produce markings with a roughness value of 0.029µm – 0.110µm and enter into class N3 while the results of marking with the greatest power of 100% obtain a roughness value of 18.210µm – 19.876µm which is included in the roughness class N10. Based on the data obtained in the engraving process with different power variations, it can be interpreted that the higher the power supplied, the higher the roughness value

Abstract

Elevator are one of the most important transportation these days. Elevator is a link in a tall building that has many floors. The role of the elevator which is always used by the public requires a high level of precision. In this study, researchers made a prototype elevator system using a stepper motor and obtained test results with a maximum error rate of 2% on the 10 cm elevator input using a ruler as a testing tool. The largest comparison of testing result using a ruler and using a rotary encoder is 0.2 cm or 2 mm at the 40 cm elevator input. The precision of the elevator prototype still can be improved by using half step mode when controlling the stepper motor.

Abstract

An engine bleed trip is an indication that there is a failure in the engine bleed system in regulating the temperature and pressure of the bleed air. This can affect the work of other systems that rely on the output of the engine bleed system, one of which is the cabin pressure system. The aim of this research is to find out the percentage level of the need for main components in the engine bleed system to be replaced in handling engine bleed trip cases. This research is an ex post-facto comparative research with primary data collection methods sourced from aircraft maintenance databases and interviews. The research results showed that from a total of 52 bleed trip cases that occurred during 17 months, the percentage of main components that needed to be replaced were the 390F thermostat sensor (42.3%), precooler control valve (19.2%), pressure regulating shuttle valve (11 .5%), bleed air regulator (7.7%), and the rest are other components.

Abstract

Ship launching is a crucial stage in shipbuilding, and the airbag launching method has become widely adopted due to its flexibility, cost efficiency, and better safety compared to conventional methods. The ship launching stage is a crucial part of the ship's transition from land to sea, representing a significant innovation in the maritime field. Among the various methods available, the use of airbags has become one of the most effective and widely applied techniques. The approach taken is a quantitative approach to ensure accurate calculations in the process of launching ships using airbags. The quantitative approach aims at calculating the right number and distance between airbags to ensure the safety and efficiency of ship launching, in accordance with the industry standard C/B T 3837-1998. CB/T 3837-1998 standard can be applied to ensure stability and safety during the launching process, as well as minimize the risk of damage to the ship and ensure the launching process runs smoothly. This research aims to calculate the number and distance between airbags used in the launching of a 330-foot barge. The main ship dimensions and airbag specifications were obtained through field interviews to support accurate calculations. The results show that 18 airbags are required, with a distance between airbags ranging from 6.66 to 11.78 meters using a crossover arrangement configuration. This calculation is based on the main dimensions of the ship and the specifications of the airbags used. T

Abstract

This study developed an image classification model to help learn the recognition of aircraft types using the Probabilistic Neural Network (PNN) method, one of the techniques in artificial neural networks that is often used for image classification. PNN works by classifying categories based on the calculation of the distance between the concentration and probability functions. In the process, PNN consists of four main stages: Input Layer, Pattern Layer, Summation Layer, and Output Layer. This study used 90 test data from three different object classes taken from the available data sets. The test results show that the application of the PNN algorithm in aircraft image classification provides an average accuracy of 81.11 %, which is quite promising to be applied as a learning module for the introduction of aircraft types for Aircraft Maintenance Engineering students at the Batam State Polytechnic. The results of this study show that the PNN method has great potential to help automatic classification and can be optimized to improve the accuracy of classification in further learning.

Abstract

This paper discusses in depth the implementation of the Village Community Empowerment Program (P2MD) carried out on Jemare Island. The main focus of this program is the application of appropriate technology, which includes public street lighting and a water pump system, both powered by solar panels. The main objective of this initiative is to improve the quality of lighting and the provision of clean water on the island, two important aspects that are greatly needed by the local residents. Through a series of intensive observations and discussions with the local residents, the community service team was able to identify and solve various problems faced by the residents. As a result of these efforts, four street lights have been successfully installed and operated, and the water pump system has been successfully connected to the water pump machine and water storage tank. It is hoped that this initiative can have a significant positive impact on the quality of life of the residents of Jemare Island, support their business activities and economy, and provide a solution to the uneven distribution of electricity by the state electricity company (PLN). This solution is practical because it utilizes renewable energy in the form of sunlight, which is abundantly available on Jemare Island.

Abstract

This research explores the issue of distortion in spool pipes within the context of the fabrication process, with a specific focus on pipe connections with flanges. The main objective of this study is to investigate the impact of distortion caused by the tacking process during fit-up and the sequence of welding sequences in the welding process. The experiments were conducted by collecting data through inspections of concentricity in the connections using the Total Station Sokkia CX 101 S/N GP1159 tool, with tolerances set at 1, and 0.75 for capping weld. Fabrication Piping and Structure Onshore served as the testing location, with ASTM A671 CC60-12 as the testing material. All tests were conducted at room temperature. The inspection results were used as a guide for the repair process, providing instructions to the Fitter for improving the connections and enabling the welder to maintain the precision of the pipe connections with flanges to avoid distortion. Based on the experimental results, the concentricity of pipe connections reflects the occurring distortion, while welding sequences show a counter effect at each welding step. The distortion after welding, measured at 0.75, still complies with client specifications.
