Abstract

Abstract

Effective and efficient counseling service interventions are the goal of every counselor in providing psychological assistance to adolescents. This study aims at describing the Muslim counselors' experience in implementing single-session online counseling services focusing on solutions for adolescents. Before the researchers conducted this study, first of all, they were preparing instruments, and a list of questions, as an interview guide for data collection. After the data collection process, the researchers analyzed and interpreted the data. Data were analyzed using a qualitative approach through thematic analysis. The data were then classified into three sub-themes; Namely creating a safe and comfortable online counseling relationship, basic communication skills in online counseling, and time management in online counseling. The results show that relationship building in online counseling services requires counselors' acceptance, strategy, and self-disclosure. During the online counseling process, counselors need to apply basic counseling skills and specific techniques in solution-focused single-session counseling strategies. They are scaling questions, miracle questions, and exception questions. Time management in the implementation of online counseling is also a challenge for counselors. Flexible time needs to be managed properly so as not to hinder the counseling process.

Abstract

Cyber counselling is a critical issue to be researched in the average era and implementation of the 21st century. This research aims to analyze the position of cyber counseling and its aftermath in the trend of guidance and counseling research in Indonesia.  Bibliometric analysis and content analysis were used to answer the research questions. The data sources were articles published in Indonesian journals accredited by Science and Technology Index (SINTA). The journals used to maintain the credibility of this research are journals with SINTA level 2 in the 2019-2022 period. Bibliometric analysis was processed with the help of the VOSviewer application. Content analysis was carried out through stages: 1) bringing together, 2) sampling, 3) recording/coding, 4) reducing, 5) inferring, and 6) narrating. The results showed that the issue of cyber counseling is an issue that still needs to be researched. Research on cybercounseling has an excellent opportunity to be explored by making variations and innovations in the aspects of researcher collaboration with multiple disciplines, research methods, subjects, research locations, data collection techniques, and data analysis.

Abstract

The rising cases of suicide indicate the fragile mental state of teenagers (Strawberry Generation) when dealing with problems. This suggests that teenagers are not resilient enough, meaning their ability to adapt and withstand difficult situations is still low. This condition is influenced, in part, by a lack of warmth, understanding, and the ability to help oneself (self-compassion). This research aims to examine the influence of self-compassion on teenage resilience. The research approach used is quantitative with an ex-post facto design. The study involved 1512 teenagers (aged 11-18) in Central Java, selected using convenient random sampling. The research instruments used were a resilience scale (24 statement items, referring to Ungar's theory in 2013) and a self-compassion scale (26 statement items, based on Neff's theory in 2003). The instruments underwent validity testing (validity values exceeding the table's R) and reliability testing (self-compassion scale 0.781 and resilience scale 0.786). Data were analyzed using simple regression tests and met classical assumption tests. The research results show that self-compassion has a positive effect on resilience with an R Square value of 0.348, meaning that self-compassion contributes 34.8% to resilience. This research has implications for guidance counselors to provide services to enhance teenagers' self-compassion, thus improving their resilience.

Abstract

Homosexuality is a significant topic in many social discussions. Most people believe in the right for individuals to live as they are and appreciate everyone's uniqueness. However, there are also those with differing opinions who do not support this right. Islamic boarding school serves as one of the pillars of preserving Islamic teachings and protecting the young generation from moral decadence. Ironically, it is often viewed as one of the places where sexual perversion, i.e., homosexuality, grows. This study aimed to present a preventive intervention to prevent sexual perversion through capacity building for the management, head, and teachers in the Islamic boarding school environment. To this end, the action research was conducted in one of the Islamic seminaries in Magelang Regency, Indonesia. The study subjects were the Islamic boarding school's manager, caretakers, and teachers. Data were collected through questionnaires, in-depth interviews, observation, focus group discussion (FGD),  and document study. This study found that (1) the indication of homosexual perversion in the Islamic boarding school was categorized as low; (2) the intervention could improve managers’, caretakers’, and teachers’ knowledge about the indication of homosexual perversion, reproductive education strategies for students, and sensitivity towards homosexual perversion in the Islamic boarding school; and (3) it is necessary to reconstruct the regulation and prepare counseling service units. To prevent homosexuality at Islamic boarding schools (IBS), there's a need for a systematic, integrated, comprehensive, and wise preventive effort involving managers, caretakers, and teachers. This includes increasing their knowledge and awareness about various topics such as: 1) Sexual behavior issues at IBS and their underlying causes; 2) Adolescents' development characteristics; 3) Adolescent reproductive health; 4) Sexually transmitted diseases and their causes; 5) Sexual deviations and their consequences; 6) Future planning. Additionally, efforts should involve reconstructing IBS regulations and preparing counseling service units. The suggestion from this research is to adapt these interventions to similar educational institutions in a thoughtful manner.

Abstract

Islamic Boarding School is now an option for students who want to strengthen their religious knowledge and social skills. Students who live in Islamic boarding schools have more demands than students in general. Students must have academic hardiness in completing their studies, characterized by commitment, control, and challenge. Academic hardiness needs to be supported by psychological well-being and self-compassion. Psychological well-being helps students accept conditions and be able to control conditions well. Self-compassion helps students understand their situation so that they can face challenges. This study aims to analyze the contribution of psychological well-being and self-compassion to the academic hardiness of students in Islamic boarding schools. Quantitative research method with correlational design and samples were taken with convenience random sampling technique. The research instruments involved well-being, self-compassion, and academic hardiness scales. Data analysis used descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression tests. The results showed that psychological well-being and self-compassion had a significant effect of 61.5% (R2: 0.615) on the academic hardiness of students in the cottage. Other variables influence the remaining 38.5%. Thus, psychological well-being and self-compassion are essential in shaping islamic boarding school students' academic hardiness.

Abstract

This study aimed to test the effectiveness of behavioral group counseling by combining modeling techniques with sap jagat prayer to improve the stabilization of career decision-making in students. The research method used a quantitative pre-experimental design with one group pretest and post-test design. The participants in the study amounted to 8 students of SMAN 1 Bringin, Semarang Regency, who were taken using a purposive sampling technique. The criteria for sampling in this study are 1) Muslim students; 2) students who are still hesitant in making decisions, and 3) students who have a low level of career stabilization. The instrument used is the career decision-making stabilization scale developed from Jones's (1980) theory. The instrument consists of 31 items with a reliability value of 0.780. Data analysis techniques using t-test. The results showed p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), meaning that behavioral group counseling combined with modeling techniques with sapu jagat prayer effectively stabilizes career decision-making in students. This study has limitations on Muslim subjects, so a more comprehensive, varied subject free from religious bias is required to generalize the research results.
