Abstract

Oil, natural gas, and coal are non-renewable fossil energy sources. The limited availability of non-renewable fossil fuels has prompted countries worldwide to develop technologies that harness energy from renewable sources. One of these renewable energy sources is biofuel, which includes bioethanol and biodiesel. Currently, the Co-Pyrolysis method has been widely developed for waste processing. The Co-Pyrolysis method aims to extract energy content from a mixture of raw materials. The varying percentage of raw material mixtures can significantly influence the resulting products. Obtaining the characteristics of raw materials, the differences in temperature distribution graphs for each percentage of the raw material mixture, and achieving optimum product yield are the objectives of the Co-Pyrolysis process. Based on the data from the heating process, it has been found that an excellent product can be obtained from heating a mixture of TKKS (30%) and PS (70%) at 500 °C for 1 hour, resulting in a product yield of 68%.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan warga Desa Uteun Dama dengan memanfaatkan potensi ikan nila dari waduk, yang akan diolah menjadi ikan asap dan ikan asin dengan nilai ekonomis yang tinggi. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Desa Uteun Dama, Kecamatan Serbajadi, Kabupaten Aceh Timur, Provinsi Aceh.Salah satu tantangan yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat Desa Uteun Dama adalah kurang efisiennya proses pengolahan ikan asap dan ikan asin karena masih menggunakan metode konvensional. Oleh karena itu, tujuan utama dari kegiatan ini adalah merancang dan membuat sebuah alat pengasapan ikan yang dapat menghemat waktu pengasapan sekaligus menjamin kehigienisan produk yang dihasilkan. Metode kegiatan ini terdiri dari beberapa tahap, yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan, pemantauan, dan evaluasi. Kegiatan pengabdian melibatkan mahasiswa KKN Tematik, dosen, serta mitra dari Desa Uteun Dama. Proses pembuatan alat pengasapan ikan dan rak pengering ikan asin dimulai dengan tahap perancangan dan pembuatan alat.Setelah itu, masyarakat Desa Uteun Dama akan diajari cara menggunakan alat pengasapan ikan ini, yang menggunakan tempurung kelapa dan mampu mengasapi ikan nila sebanyak 5 kg.Hasil dari kegiatan ini tidak hanya berupa penguatan pemahaman masyarakat mengenai manfaat ikan nila dalam menciptakan nilai ekonomi dan lapangan kerja baru, tetapi juga mencerminkan kepuasan masyarakat terhadap penggunaan alat pengasapan dan pengering ikan yang mampu menghemat waktu yang diperlukan.

Abstract

Universitas Samudra sangat mendukung pelaksanaan kampus merdeka belajar seperti yang diinstruksikan oleh Kemendikbud. Khususnya Fakultas Teknik telah mengupayakan pencapaian kurikulum merdeka belajar sebagai wujud implementasi kampus merdeka, salah satunya melalui program KKN tematik/membangun desa. Mahasiswa merupakan generasi muda yang memiliki intelektual dan semangat yang tinggi dan harus mampu memberi andil terhadap masalah pembangunan bangsa dan negara. Dalam kegiatan ini mahasiswa dapat mengembangkan rasa kepekaan dan solidaritas terhadap masyarakat sebagai makhluk sosial dalam membantu proses pembangunan. KKN-Tematik adalah salah satu program Pengabdian pada Masyarakat yang telah dilakukan oleh mahasiswa Fakultas Teknik Universitas Samudra. Pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan bertempat di Desa Matang Peulawi yang berada di kecamatan Peureulak, Kabupaten Aceh Timur, provinsi Aceh, Indonesia. Secara geografis Desa Matang Peulawi terletak pada bagian utara Kuala Bugak atau pun pada bagian barat Pasir Putih yang merupakan bagian dari Kabupaten Aceh Timur. Termasuk ke salah satu Desa pemasok ikan kecamatan Peureulak. sok ikan kecamatan Peureulak.

Abstract

Aceh Province is an area rich in natural resources for oil palm plantations, which can be optimized. Many oil palm companies are established in Aceh. PT Betami, as one of the many Palm Oil Plantation companies in Aceh Tamiang, must improve the performance of its employees in order to compete with competitors. This research aims to describe the factors that can influence employee performance at PT Betami, describe the performance of PT Betami employees, and analyze the influence of salary, incentives, motivation, work environment, training, and development on the performance of PT Betami employees. The research was conducted at the PT Betami Palm Oil Company on Jln. Sapta Jaya, Suka Jadi Village, Rantau District, Aceh Tamiang Regency. The research method used is a survey using observation and questionnaires. The research sample was 77 people and was calculated using the Slovin formula. Sampling was carried out using the Simple Random Sampling technique. Data analysis was done using descriptive and multiple linear regression analyses using SPSS. The research results show that the performance of PT Betami employees is excellent. Salary, incentives, motivation, work environment, training, and development can influence PT Betami employees' performance. Motivation and incentives can influence employee performance in the highest category.

Abstract

The use of solar energy has become increasingly popular in recent years due to sustainability and environmental benefits. Universitas Samudra is designing the centralization of water distribution using solar energy as an energy resource. By using solar energy, universities can reduce their carbon footprint and energy costs while improving access to clean water for students, staff, and the surrounding community. This paper explores the benefits, challenges, design, and optimization of solar energy in pure water distribution, focusing on the technical and optimization of implementing such systems. The optimization is based on the water demand analysis and water source regarding the rainwater harvesting, then distribution points, including time patterns, peak demands, and seasonal fluctuation. The analyzing variables include the flow and residual head at each point distribution, pressure drop, pipe sizing, storage tank sizing, and water supply capacity input to each storage tank. The data is also based on the university's master plan and blueprint for the next 30 years of Development. Furthermore, the data will be analyzed and calculated to obtain optimum distribution pump capacity and pump working hours. The system was Analysed and calculated using Epanet hydraulic modeling software. The calculations result are that the distribution pump capacity is 16 L/s, the head is 30 M, the works for five hours a day, the power is 4.7 kW, the total energy is around 23.5 kWh per day, and The solar panel is eight kWp

Abstract

Kualitas permukaan merupakan variabel penting dalam proses pemesinan milling. Oleh karena itu, pemilihan parameter pemesinan terbaik sangat penting untuk diatur agar dapat diperoleh kualitas permukaan terbaik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengoptimalkan parameter pemesinan dengan menggunakan kekasaran permukaan sebagai variabel indikator kinerja. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan membuat 9 buah benda uji kekasaran permukaan melalui proses penghadapan pada mesin milling CNC TU-3A. Setiap benda uji dibuat dengan tingkat parameter pemesinan yang berbeda-beda. Parameter pemesinan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah kecepatan spindel, feed rate, dan kedalaman potong. Nilai kekasaran permukaan yang diperoleh dari 9 benda uji dianalisis menggunakan metode taguchi, signal to noise rasio, dan ANOVA. Pendekatan Taguchi juga digunakan untuk memprediksi konfigurasi parameter pemesinan terbaik. Hasil analisis Signal-to-Noise ratio menunjukkan bahwa kualitas permukaan dipengaruhi oleh kecepatan spindel, kedalaman potong, dan laju pengumpanan. Hasil pengukuran pada 9 benda uji menunjukkan nilai kekasaran terbaik yaitu 0,275µm. Sedangkan hasil analisa taguchi menunjukkan nilai kekasaran permukaan optimal dapat diperoleh pada kondisi pemesinan 0,267µm dengan parameter kecepatan spindel 1100 rpm, feed rate 85 mm/menit dan kedalaman potong 0,25 mm. Selanjutnya analisis varians (ANOVA) menghasilkan nilai kontribusi kecepatan spindel, laju pemakanan dan kedalaman potong terhadap nilai kekasaran permukaan masing-masing sebesar 51,80%, 36,88% dan 10,72%.

Abstract

Pengeringan pisang sale merupakan langkah krusial dalam proses produksi pisang sale, sebuah produk olahan tradisional yang menjadi sumber mata pencaharian utama bagi masyarakat Kampung Baroh, Langsa. Namun, metode pengeringan tradisional yang selama ini digunakan sering kali tidak efisien, memakan waktu lama, dan kurang memenuhi standar kebersihan. Oleh karena itu, pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan alat pengering pisang sale yang sederhana, efisien, dan mudah digunakan oleh masyarakat setempat, dengan harapan dapat meningkatkan kualitas produksi serta memberdayakan ekonomi lokal. Proses pengembangan alat pengering ini melibatkan partisipasi aktif dari masyarakat Kampung Baroh. Tim pengabdian bekerja sama dengan warga untuk merancang, menguji, dan memperbaiki prototipe alat pengering yang sesuai dengan kondisi lingkungan dan budaya setempat, serta memenuhi standar keamanan pangan dan sanitasi. Hasil dari pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan alat pengering yang dikembangkan mampu menghasilkan pisang sale dengan kualitas yang lebih baik, baik dari segi tekstur, rasa, maupun kebersihan. Selain itu, alat ini juga mempercepat proses pengeringan yang sebelumnya memakan waktu berhari-hari menjadi hanya sekitar 10 jam. Dampak positif dari keberadaan alat ini adalah peningkatan produktivitas masyarakat Kampung Baroh, yang kini dapat memasok pisang sale ke pasar lokal dan regional dengan lebih cepat dan efisien.

Abstract

The Keuliling Dam has an important role in meeting water supply needs in the surrounding area. After operating for more than 10 years, an evaluation of operation and maintenance performance is required to ensure its continued function. This research aims to analyze the condition of the Keuliling Dam through assessing the condition index for each dam component based on primary and secondary data. The assessment is carried out by providing a condition index value that reflects the level of damage to the safety aspects and environmental performance of the dam. The results of the analysis show that the condition index value for the Keuliling Dam is 4, which is included in the minor damage category. This condition indicates the need for maintenance action to prevent further damage. Based on observations, deposition of material and rubbish is one of the main problems that affects dam performance. This research provides an important basis for managers in determining strategic steps to improve the performance of dam operations and maintenance. The evaluation carried out aims to ensure that the Keuliling Dam can continue to function optimally, support water supply, and minimize the risk of more serious damage. It is hoped that the recommendations from this research can become a reference in managing dams effectively and efficiently.

Abstract

Differential helical gears are critical components in power transmission systems of vehicles, responsible for transmitting torque from the engine to the drive wheels. These components operate under continuous high torque loads and are susceptible to failure due to material fatigue and the presence of initial cracks. This study aims to predict the initial crack location and evaluate the potential failure of a differential helical gear subjected to a 175 Nm torque using the Finite Element Method (FEM). The gear was modeled with actual dimensions and simulated using ANSYS software under two conditions: without cracks and with an initial crack. The simulation results show that the maximum shear stress without a crack is 45.82 MPa, while with an initial crack, it increases to 66.14 MPa, exceeding the allowable shear stress of ASTM A36 material at 45.45 MPa. This significant increase in stress due to the crack indicates a high risk of structural failure. Therefore, finite element analysis proves to be an effective tool for early crack detection and stress distribution evaluation, which is essential for improving the reliability of gear design and material selection.
