Abstract

This research analyzed the rhetorical pattern (RP) of script Introduction section written by undergraduate students at four selected universities in Aceh. Information about the RP of introduction section had been found in literature, including the work of Indonesian students in general. However, specific information about the RP of the work of EFL students in Aceh was not determined yet. The main aim of the study was to explore whether Acehnese studentsperformed the exact pattern of written Academic English. Understanding the RP of this section was important because it helped readers to have a description of the whole script. A qualitative method was applied in this study to draw the RP through the content analysis. The data were taken from twenty undergraduate students’ scripts at four selected universities. CARS model was used to analyze all the data. In general, the result shows a unique RP of the Introductionsection by Acehnese students where RP of introduction section maintains the circular way of thinking.

The data of this research was English undergraduate thesis written by ten Acehnese students as the documentation was applied as the instrument. The data were collected from two Islamic institutes in Aceh. The research was conducted by using documentation analysis. The result of the analysis demonstrated that the English writings by Acehnese students maintained the inductive style and the idea of the paragraph is circular. However, the use of markers is enough to be considered. The conclusion led to the rhetorical pattern of the Acehnese students which is in oriented style. Indeed, the implication of the finding showed that the students’ cross cultural rhetoric awareness toward English writing convention, especially in academic writing, is low

Abstract

This study investigated the rhetorical pattern (RP) of the introduction section of the scripts written by Acehnese undergraduate students studying in four different universities in Aceh. The focus of this study is on three elements: placement of the thesis, patterns of idea, and metadiscourse markers of the introduction section. Literature has reported a number of findings regarding the RP; however, information about this in undergraduate level, particularly in state universities in Aceh, is still limited. This study was conducted qualitatively by employing content analysis to identify the RP. A number of introduction sections of students’ scripts from four selected universities in Aceh were collected and analysed. The result shows the dominance of the three elements in the introduction section.

Abstract

Abstract

Sexual harassment is a violation of Islamic law and is inconsistent with the values of all religions and moral norms. The rise of sexual violence in educational institutions is concerning. This study aims to analyze and evaluate the demoralization that occurs in Indonesian educational institutions after the emergence of sexual harassment committed by caregivers or staff. Using a descriptive qualitative method analyzed through the tafsīr al-aḥkām approach, data was collected through interviews and literature studies. The findings indicate that sexual harassment in educational institutions is often done through coercion, using dogmatic methods or luring victims. This behavior undermines the maqāshid of the Qur'an, teachings of all religions, and moral norms. Teachers and caregivers are meant to be dignified and honorable people. Sexual harassment is a form of sexual violence that harms victims both physically and mentally. Interpretation scholars emphasize that every individual has the right to dignity and honor, which Islamic shari'a regulates. Therefore, Islamic law prohibits immoral acts, including sexual harassment, which is considered faḥsyā’ or fāḥisyah (abominable), as it can injure human glory and dignity. The demoralization that occurs will affect the degradation of the charisma of educational institutions and weaken the sacred relationship between caregivers and students.

Abstract

This paper discusses the role of special autonomy and village government in Aceh in supporting the implementation of sharia (Islamic law) and religious moderation. The study uses empirical qualitative methods and is analyzed through the theory of asymmetric decentralization. Data were collected through interviews with key informants, namely the Islamic Law Office, Village Head (Keuchik), Village Imam (Tengku Imum), Tuha Peut (Customary Apparatus), Pastors, Religious Figures and Community Leaders. Related literature studies include journal articles, laws and regulations, and books. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of special autonomy, especially through the framework of village government in Aceh, has effectively supported the implementation of sharia and religious moderation. This support can be seen from the authority and contribution of village government to Islamic education, such as gender-inclusive religious studies in Meunasah, economic empowerment through the management of zakat, infaq, and sedekah by Baitul Mal Gampong, and conflict resolution, namely by optimizing the active role of village officials in customary justice. It can be further emphasized that this article also concludes that promoting religious, social, and ethnic harmony through inclusive programs that actively involve all elements of society, regardless of race, religion, or ethnicity at the Gampong level is a prime example of the manifestation of effective religious moderation. Within the framework of asymmetric decentralization, Gampong authority has succeeded in supporting and facilitating special autonomy and the implementation of sharia and religious moderation can run well.

Abstract

Climate change and the impacts of globalization significantly influence contemporary environmental life systems. Environmental degradation represents a challenge confronted by every nation, not solely due to climate change effects but exacerbated by human interventions. This research examines the implementation of adaptive governance within Islamic financial institutions in Aceh to realize the green banking concept. The study employs mixed methods, focusing on the effectiveness of Qanun Number 11 of 2018 regarding Financial Institutions in supporting sustainable banking practices. Through in-depth interviews with stakeholders from various Islamic banks and descriptive statistical analysis, the research reveals that Islamic financial institutions in Aceh have demonstrated positive contributions to the green banking concept. Research findings indicate that Shariah-based policy frameworks possess significant potential in promoting environmentally friendly financial practices, although further strengthening remains necessary in socialization aspects and corporate social responsibility (CSR) program optimizationClimate change and the impacts of globalization significantly influence contemporary environmental life systems.
