Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility of developing an integrated science e-module through problem-based learning in improving critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes on vibration and wave material. The research method used was Research and Development. The research sample was class VIII Junior High School 2 Jayapura with a total of 30 students. The results showed that the integrated science e-module for vibration and wave material was very feasible to be used as a teaching material with an average validator rating of 90.89%. The use of integrated science e-modules can improve critical thinking skills and increase student learning outcomes by 0.57 in the medium category and 0.74 in the high category.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar peserta didik yang diajarkan menggunakan model pembelajaran PBL (Problem Based Learninng) pada pokok bahasan getaran dan gelombang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Kuantitatif dengan desain pre-experimental design (praeksperimen) dan metode deskriptif. Populasi penelitian berjumlah 150 peserta didik yaitu kelas VIII SMP Negeri 11 Jayapura. Sampel yang digunakan adalah kelas VIII D dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 30 peserta didik. Pengambilan sampel digunakan teknik non probability sampling dengan cara purposive sampling. Data hasil belajar dikumpulkan melalui pretest dan posttest.. Peningkatan hasil belajar peserta didik dapat dilihat dari nilai n-gain rata-rata seluruh konsep yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran PBL dengan n-gain sebesar 0.67 yang tergolong kategori sedang.

Abstract

Engineering Physics is a discipline that integrates concepts from physics, mathematics, and engineering to provide solutions to various technological challenges. The community service activity aimed to discuss the role of Engineering Physics in technological development with students at SMKS Lachairoi Kotaraja. Engineering Physics contributes to the development of innovative technologies such as renewable energy, environmental sensors, medical devices, and industrial automation. The methods used in this community service activity included expository presentations (verbal delivery of material) and demonstrations with teaching aids, focusing on fostering critical and analytical thinking related to physics and the role of Engineering Physics in technology. The results of this activity showed that the students applied physics principles in the design and functionality of technologies such as communication technology, optical and photonic technology, and computational technology

Abstract

Kali Kemiri Sentani frequently experiences flooding, particularly during periods of intense rainfall. Given the critical importance of flood risk mitigation, this study aims to analyze the water flow rate in Kali Kemiri and investigate the key factors influencing its dynamics. The research was conducted within the Kali Kemiri watershed in Jayapura Regency, focusing on a watershed area with a total study area of 1,640 m², mapped at a small scale across two measurement points. Flow rate measurements were performed at two locations along Kali Kemiri using the float method. The study recorded key hydrological parameters, including water depth, river width, and flow velocity. These data were utilized to calculate the volumetric flow rate at the designated measurement sites. This methodology provides a comprehensive understanding of the hydrodynamic factors affecting water flow, which is essential for assessing flood hazards in the region. The results indicate that the highest discharge rate was observed at the first measurement point, with an average flow discharge of 0.188 m³/s and a velocity of 0.52 m/s. In contrast, the second measurement point recorded a discharge of 0.115 m³/s with a flow velocity of 0.29 m/s. These findings suggest a direct correlation between flow velocity and discharge, wherein an increase in velocity corresponds to an increase in discharge. Furthermore, the study highlights that the flow rate is influenced by watershed area, watershed volume, and watershed slope, which collectively govern the hydrological behavior of the river system.

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini adalah untuk memberikan pelatihan praktikum IPAS pada materi sifat-sifat cahaya kelas V SD Al-Ihsan Yapis Kotaraja. Praktikum adalah suatu proses pembelajaran berbentuk pengamatan melalui percobaan yang bertujuan untuk membekali peserta didik agar cepat memahami teori dan praktik. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif yang melibatkan peserta didik secara aktif dalam setiap tahap kegiatan. Metode yang digunakan yaitu ceramah, tanya jawab, diskusi, dan praktikum. Hasil observasi dan evaluasi menggunakan angket, pelatihan praktikum IPAS yang dilakukan oleh Tim Dosen PKM memberikan dampak positif terhadap peserta didik di antaranya; 1) Peserta didik terampil dalam menggunakan alat dan bahan praktikum IPAS sederhana; 2) Meningkatkan sikap gotong royong saat melakukan praktikum; 3) Memiliki sikap percaya diri melalui presentasi hasil praktikum.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan memberikan pelatihan kepada peserta didik kelas V SD Al-Ihsan Yapis Kotaraja untuk membuat alat peraga sederhana pada materi listrik khususnya rangkaian seri dalam mata pelajaran IPAS. Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan untuk mengatasi minimnya ketersediaan alat peraga di sekolah, yang selama ini menyebabkan pembelajaran hanya mengandalkan buku paket, video pembelajaran, dan papan tulis. Pendekatan participatory action research digunakan dalam pelatihan ini dengan melibatkan peserta didik secara aktif dalam setiap tahapan kegiatan, mulai dari persiapan, pelaksanaan, hingga evaluasi. Metode yang diterapkan meliputi ceramah, tanya jawab, diskusi kelompok, presentasi, dan demonstrasi, dengan dominasi metode demonstrasi agar peserta didik dapat langsung berinteraksi dengan media pembelajaran. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa peserta didik berhasil membuat alat peraga sederhana untuk rangkaian seri dan memahami kelebihan serta kekurangannya. Selain itu, penggunaan alat peraga ini mempermudah peserta didik dalam memahami materi listrik, meningkatkan antusiasme, dan mendorong motivasi belajar mereka. Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap aspek kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotorik peserta didik, serta menawarkan solusi praktis dalam mendukung pembelajaran IPAS yang lebih bermakna.

Abstract

The purpose of this Community Service (PKM) activity is to provide science practical training on the material of light properties for grade V of SD Al Ihsan Yapis Kotaraja. Practical work is a learning process in the form of observation through experiments that aims to equip students to quickly understand theory and practice. Science learning should not only be given through theory, but also apply practical methods so that students can easily understand the concept of the material. This is in line with the development of the era and technology and the demands of 21st century learning that must be possessed by students, one of which is critical thinking skills. Practical methods can be applied to science subjects because students' skills are through the science process. This community service activity uses lecture, question and answer, discussion, and practical methods. Based on the results of direct observation and evaluation, the science practical training carried out by the PKM Lecturer Team has a positive impact on students, including; 1) Students are skilled in using simple science practical tools; 2) Increase the attitude of mutual cooperation when doing practical work; 3) Have a confident attitude through presentation of practical results.

Abstract

Rivers play a crucial role in ecosystems and human life. Accurate understanding of hydraulic characteristics, such as flow velocity and discharge, is essential for sustainable water resource management, flood mitigation, infrastructure planning, and aquatic ecological studies. To comparatively examine the hydraulic characteristics of a river, this study was conducted on a micro scale using the float method, with simulations performed on the Toladan River.The research was carried out in the Toladan River Watershed (TRW) located in Jayapura Regency, mapped on a small scale and divided into three observation points, with a total observation area of approximately 514.75 m².Measurements were conducted using the float method, with the floating object being a cardboard box measuring 4 cm × 3 cm × 2 cm. The data collected consisted of the travel time of the water flow, which was used to calculate flow velocity and discharge. The results showed that the highest flow velocity was recorded at the first observation point at 0.367 m/s, followed by the second point at 0.331 m/s, and the third point at 0.148 m/s. In contrast, the highest discharge was observed at the third point, reaching 0.654 m³/s, followed by the second point at 0.448 m³/s, and the lowest at the first point with 0.382 m³/s. These findings indicate a linear relationship between flow velocity and discharge, influenced by the cross-sectional area of the stream: lower flow velocity with higher discharge suggests a wider cross-sectional area. The results also show that discharge in the Toladan River is not constant and that flow velocity is affected by watershed size, river depth, and watershed slope.

Abstract

This Community Service (PKM) activity was titled "Training on Making Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC) from Banana Peel Waste" at MA Yaa Bunayya Jayapura. The main objective of this PKM activity was to raise students' awareness of environmental protection by making liquid organic fertilizer (POC) from banana peel waste. This community service activity used a participatory approach, actively involving students in every stage of the activity. The methods used were training, lectures, Q&A sessions, group discussions, and presentations. A project-based design was used in this activity because it involved the development of specific projects that could help students, teachers, and the school community through waste management. The results of the PKM activity indicated that training on making Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC) from banana peel waste can be an effective way to increase students' awareness and skills in environmentally friendly waste management. Thus, this training can benefit students, the school, and the surrounding environment, ensuring a sustainable human life free from banana peel waste. This training also serves as a good example for the community to develop sustainable waste management practices.

Abstract

This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to integrate mathematical concepts with Papuan local wisdom through an ethnomathematics approach. This program was implemented at the Ayapo Reading House, Ayapo Traditional Village, Sentani and involved 30 students consisting of grades 4-6 of Elementary School (SD). The learning method used exploration of traditional Papuan arts such as wood carving (Ohote), bark painting (Khombow), local batik motifs (Hote Hiloi, and Yoniki) to introduce the concept of patterns and symmetry in mathematics. A multisensory approach was applied through clapping activities, rhythmic tapping, and pattern drawing exercises. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' interest in mathematics and their ability to identify patterns and symmetry in Papuan culture. As many as 94% of students became prouder of their cultural heritage after understanding that traditional Papuan art contains complex mathematical concepts. This shows that ethnomathematics learning not only improves numeracy literacy but also strengthens students' cultural identity. This program has successfully proven the effectiveness of local cultural integration in STEM learning, especially for education in 3T (Frontier, Outermost, and Disadvantaged) areas.
