Abstract

Dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, manusia tidak dapat terlepas dari matematika. Bahkan matematika mempunyai andil yang cukup besar dalam perkembangan Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi. Objek yang dipergunakan dalam matematika adalah sesuatu yang abstrak. Hal ini menyebabkan guru mengalami kesulitan dalam penyampaian materi matematika pada anak SD, sebab taraf berpikir anak SD menurut J. Piaget digolongkan pada taraf operasi kongkret. Oleh sebab itu sebagai jalan keluarnya adalah memanipulasi objek-objek yang abstrak ke dalam benda-benda kongkret. Soal cerita merupakan bentuk matematika yang materinya telah dihubungkan dengan pengalaman dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Sehingga soal cerita bisa dipakai sebagai alternatif penyampaian materi matematika pada anak usia Sekolah Dasar (SD). Tetapi setelah diamati, berdasarkan teori perkembangan manusia (oleh J.Piaget), ternyata kemampuan anak SD dalam memahami kalimat (verbal) dan mengubahnya ke dalam simbol-simbol matematika masih mengalami kesulitan.

Abstract

Dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, manusia tidak dapat terlepas dari matematika, bahkan matematika mempunyai andil yang cukup besar dalam perkembangan Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi. Obyek yang dipergunakan dalam matematika adalah sesuatu yang abstrak, sehingga dalam proses pemahamannya seringkali siswa mengalami kendala yang berkepanjangan. Seringkali siswa belum dapat memahami suatu materi diakibatkan ketidakpahamannya dalam materi penunjang sebelumnya, sehingga untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut diperlukan suatu penyusunan kurikulum yang memperhatikan peta konsep pelajaran. Tujuan dari peta konsep ini adalah agar para siswa dapat memperoleh ilmu matematika secara berjenjang mulai dari materi dasar hingga materi lanjutan.  Dalam penyusunan peta konsep ini diharapkan siswa mempunyai alur pikir yang benar dan sistimatis didalam menyelesaikan suatu soal matematika.  Peta konsep juga akan membuat suatu keterkaitan materi dapat tergambar dengan jelas dan bisa dipahami oleh para pendidik. Sehingga dalam pembuatan peta konsep diperlukan pemikiran yang mendalam tentang keterkaitan setiap bidang materi agar siswa bisa menerima dan memahaminya dengan mudah.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the problems of using digital-based innovative learning media in the digitalization era which is an independent learning program in basic education. This problem is very important to study more deeply, considering that learning media is an important component that must exist in the implementation of learning. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The research was conducted at SDN Sidosermo 1 Surabaya during December 2022. The data needed in this study included literature studies, direct observation, supported by questionnaire results and interviews with PPG students who carried out PPL at SDN Sidosermo 1 Surabaya. The results of this study note that there are still teachers who have not utilized digital-based innovative learning media during learning. Teachers still use the lecture method and simple media in the form of pictures and word cards to support learning. The lack of use of digital-based innovative learning media is not only seen in Sidosermo 1 Surabaya Elementary School, but also in several schools in Indonesia. This is known from data which states that around 60% of teachers in Indonesia still do not master information and communication technology. Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that the use of digital-based innovative learning media is still minimal and needs to be improved in the future. It is intended that there is a balance between technological advances and scientific advances in the school environment, which in turn can improve the quality of learning

Abstract

The application of constructivist learning theory I considered important nowadays. When songs are introduced in the classroom the students can be more engaged. This study explores the use of constructivist learning theory in teaching English language to grade five elementary students, focusing on the effectiveness of songs as a learning tool. It investigates how songs can enhance student engagement, vocabulary retention, and concept understanding by promoting active participation. Using a descriptive quantitative approach with a case study design, data were gathered through direct observations of student engagement and document analysis of learning outcomes. The findings show that incorporating songs significantly improves student participation, making vocabulary retention easier and aiding concept comprehension by providing meaningful context. The study concludes that integrating songs into the learning process creates a more engaging and effective learning environment, helping students deepen their knowledge through active experience and social interaction. Thus, the use of songs as a learning tool can be an effective strategy in improving the quality of English language learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

The rapid development of knowledge and technology in the 21st century era, education is very important in facing global challenges. Students are required to have higher order thinking skills. Education plays an important role in shaping students' HOTS in facing challenges in the current era. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of implementing cybernetic theory on HOTS. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. The population of this study were fourth grade elementary school students, totalling 42 students. The sample of this research was class IV A with 20 students and class IV B with 22 students. Class IV A is an experimental class that does learning with cybernetic theory, while class IV B is a control class that does conventional learning. Methods in data collection are interviews and tests. The instruments used in data collection were interview sheets and multiple-choice tests. Data were analyzed with quantitative descriptive and independent sampling t test. The results of the t-test that have been carried out obtained a t-count value of 9.645 with a t-table of 1.684. This means that t-count > t-table so that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. So, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the application of cybernetic theory on the HOTS of fourth grade elementary school students. Therefore, the use of cybernetic theory can be an effective approach in developing HOTS at the elementary school.

Abstract

This study investigates the use of Damar Kurung Gresik, a traditional Indonesian art form, to enhance mathematics education for 4th-grade students through the Hypothetical Learning Trajectory strategy within Ethno-Realistic Mathematics Education. The aim is to integrate local cultural elements into the curriculum to foster better student engagement and understanding through contextual learning. Employing a Design Research methodology, the study was conducted with 32 elementary students. Data collection methods included classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, and document analysis. The Hypothetical Learning Trajectory framework was applied to teach geometry, measurement, and pattern recognition, using Damar Kurung as a pedagogical tool to connect mathematical concepts with the art-making process. Findings indicate that the familiar context of Damar Kurung significantly increased student interest and motivation. Moreover, students exhibited improved comprehension and application of mathematical concepts, demonstrating considerable progress along the learning trajectory. Teachers reported that the structured approach provided by the Hypothetical Learning Trajectory facilitated more effective lesson planning and delivery, leading to enhanced learning outcomes. The study concludes that incorporating Damar Kurung into mathematics education through the Hypothetical Learning Trajectory strategy within the Ethno-Realistic Mathematics Education framework holds substantial promise for improving the quality of learning and mathematical understanding among 4th-grade students. This approach not only enriches the educational experience by making it more relevant to students' cultural backgrounds but also supports the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills in mathematics.

Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman membaca teks deskripsi siswa kelas IV Sekolah Dasar Negeri Sidosermo 1 Surabaya, dengan penerapan model belajar kooperatif tipe think pair share (TPS). Populasi dalam penelitian ini seluruh siswa kelas IV Sekolah Dasar Negeri Sidosermo 1 Surabaya dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 26 orang yang terbagi atas 12 orang laki-laki dan 14 orang perempuan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus yang setiap siklus terdiri dari dua kali pertemuan. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan observasi dokumentasi dan tes. Penelitian menggunakan tekhnik analisis data kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Berdasarkan hasil analisa data dapat diketahui hasil presentasi ketuntasan siswa pada siklus I pertemuan pertama sebesar 41,67% dengan kategori sangat kurang, kemudian mengalami peningkatan pada siklus I pertemuan ke-2 sebesar 58,33%. Sedangkan pada siklus II pertemuan ke-3 diketahui presentase ketuntasan siswa sebesar 83% dengan kategori baik, kemudian pada siklus II pertemuan terakhir nilai presentase mencapai 91,66%. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe think pair share (TPS) dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman membaca teks deskripsi siswa kelas IV Sekolah Dasar Negeri Sidosermo 1 Surabaya.

Abstract

This research was conducted because of students' inability to think critically, so there is a need for media interactive learning that can improve student learning outcomes, as well as teachers' ability to develop low IT-based learning media. This research aims to analyze the initial needs in developing Canva-based interactive media to improve the critical thinking skills of sixth grade elementary school students to solve Mathematics story problems on geometric material. It is hoped that Canva-based MPI can be a solution to students' difficulties in interpreting and solving story problems, which often require in-depth understanding and critical thinking skills. The method used in the research is Research and Development with the ADDIE research model, which consists: (1)Analysis, (2)Design, (3)Development, (4)Implementation, and (5)Evaluation. In addition, media validation was carried out by experts to evaluate the validity and effectiveness of Canva-based interactive media. The use of Canva results show that in developing learning media is able to provide more interesting and interactive story problem visualizations, thus having a positive impact on improving students' critical thinking abilities. It is hoped that this research can contribute to the development of effective and easily accessible learning media to improve the quality of mathematics learning in elementary schools, especially in terms skills to critical thinking solve story problems.

Abstract

Mathematics and culture are two things that are difficult to separate. Mathematics is a branch of science that has developed since ancient times and has become part of human life and culture. The relationship between mathematics and culture is called ethnomathematics. This study aims to explore the mathematical concept of various types of angles found in the Ampel Religious Area for mathematics learning in elementary schools. The main focus of this study is the forms of buildings or architecture, ornaments, and objects in the Ampel Mosque and its surroundings. The research location was at the Ampel Mosque and its surroundings located on Jalan Ampel Masjid, Semampir District, Surabaya City, East Java. This study uses an ethnographic approach with a qualitative research type. Data were collected through observation and documentation techniques. There are three data analysis techniques used, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that there are mathematical elements about the types of angles in the area. The types of angles found include acute angles, right angles, obtuse angles, straight angles, reflex angles, and 360° angles. The results of ethnomathematics exploration in the Ampel Religious Area can be used by teachers as a reference for mathematics learning for elementary school students, so that they can learn more about local culture and understand the types of angles. Abstract

The results of the preliminary study show that the creative thinking skills of prospective elementary school teacher students are relatively low, especially in designing technology-based learning that is to the needs of the 21st century. Therefore, this study aims to develop project-oriented TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge)-based teaching materials to improve the creative thinking skills of elementary school teacher education students. This study used a research and development (R&D) method adapted from Borg & Gall. The subjects of the study consisted of 128 elementary school teacher education students involved in learning planning for elementary schools. The study results show that project-oriented TPACK-based teaching materials are valid, practical, and effective. Experts have confirmed that the teaching materials are valid in construction and content. In addition, observations of increasing student activity at each meeting indicate that the teaching materials are applied practically in learning planning. The students' creative thinking skills test results show that these teaching materials effectively improve the creative thinking skills of prospective teachers. This study implies that using the proper method can improve students' creative thinking skills to design various alternative solutions to problem-solving in learning. This study suggests further developing project-oriented TPACK-based teaching materials for elementary school students.
