Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to describe forms of literacy culture and constraints faced by students in carrying out activities in literacy culture. The research subjects were students of Facultyof Languages and Arts, Yogyakarta State University. The data were collected throughobservations, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Theye were analyzed bythe qualitative descriptive technique. The results of the study are as follows. First, thestudents’ literacy culture is manifested in their reading and writing activities. Readingactivities are done because there are assignments related to the courses (60%) and becausethey like reading (11%). Writing activities done because they like them are in a range of17%-40% and those done because there are demands from the courses are 25-42%. Studentswho link reading and writing activities reach 53%. Second, constraints in literacy culturecome from the students and the environment. The former are in general due to laziness,lack of motivation, not being focused, fatigue and boredom, no writing ideas, difficulty incomposing words and sentences, and confusion, while the latter include, among others,lack of reference in the library and references in foreign languages.Keywords: literacy culture, reading and writing activities

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan proses pembelajaran dan keterampilan membaca pemahaman melalui metode SQ3R Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Kemmis dan Mc Taggart yang dilakukan secara kolaboratif bersama dengan guru kelas dan orangtua. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV SD 2 Petir yang berjumlah 28 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi dan tes. Instrumen pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar observasi dan tes meringkas teks cerita fiksi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis data deskriptif kuantitatif dan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa proses pembelajaran dan tes membaca pemahaman melalui metode SQ3R mengalami peningkatan. Peningkatan ditunjukan dengan siswa aktif dan antusias dalam mengikuti pembelajaran. Siswa dapat menuliskan pertanyaan, menjawab pertanyaan, dan membuat ringaksan dari teks bacaan Peningkatan hasil ditunjukan dengan pencapaian ketuntasan klasikal tes membaca pemahaman yang meningkat dari siklus I sebesar 42,86% menjadi 78,57% pada siklus II sehingga mengalami peningkatan sebesar 35,71%.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian pengembangan ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan model buku ajar membaca berdasarkan pendekatan proses bagi siswa SMP. Ada tiga tahap dalam penelitian ini, yaitu (1) pendefinisian; (2) perencanaan dan pengembangan; dan (3) penyebarluasan. Data penelitian dianalisis dengan teknik analisis domain dengan prinsip kritis dan reflektif. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model buku ajar membaca telah dikembangkan berdasarkan pendekatan proses. Buku tersebut terdiri atas tiga bagian, yaitu (1) pendahuluan, (2) bagian isi, dan (3) bagian tambahan. Setiap unit terdiri atas judul unit pembelajaran, kompetensi dasar, pramembaca, membaca, merespon, menggali teks, dan memperluas pemahaman.Kata Kunci: buku ajar membaca, pendekatan prosesDEVELOPING A PROCESS-APPROACH-BASED READING TEXTBOOK MODEL FOR JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTSAbstract: This development research was aimed to produce a process-approach-based reading textbook model for Junior High School students. There were three stages in this research, i.e. (1) definition; (2) design and development; and (3) dissemination. The data were analyzed using the domain analysis technique with critical and reflective principles. The findings showed that the reading textbook model had been developed based on the process approach. This text book consisted of three parts, i.e. (1) introduction, (2) core materials, and (3) additional part. Each unit consisted of the title, competence, pre-reading, whilst-reading, responding, exploring the text, and extending comprehension.Keywords: reading text book, process approach

Abstract

This study aims to describe the reception of critical language awareness (CLA) in the fiction writing process among senior high school (SHS) teachers and students. It was a content analysis supported by qualitative data collected through focus group discussions. The subjects were SHS teachers and students in Yogyakarta Special Territory. The data analysis in the process of interpreting meanings of their works was based on the CLA elements. The findings showed that their reception of CLA in fiction writing was reflected in both the process and the outcome. The teachers were still not optimal enough in developing methods, using media, and selecting the assessment system in the learning of fiction writing. Most of the students’ works did not reveal the awareness of the importance of language power and self-position as writers.

Abstract

This study aims to describe a model of literacy in the Indonesian Language and Literacy Education course. It employed the qualitative descriptive method involving three subjects, namely Dialectical Speaking, Syntopical, Creative, and Critical Reading, and Discourse Analysis. The data were collected through a questionnaire for lecturers, interviews with students, student assignment documents, learning materials, and lecturers’ evaluation system. The findings are as follows. First, in Dialectical Speaking, the multiliteracy competencies developed are linguistic, gestural, and spatial competencies. Second, in Syntopical, Creative, and Critical Reading, they are linguistics, visual, audiovisual, and spatial competencies. Third, in Discourse analysis, they are linguistics, spatial, and visual competencies. Multiliteracy in a course can also be viewed from the practice situation, open learning, critical thinking reflection, and transformative practice.

Sumber data adalah tiganovel karya Ayu Utami, yaitu Bilangan Fu, Manjali dan Cakrabirawa, dan Maya. Hasilpenelitian sebagai berikut. The study used ecofeminism. Thedata sources were Ayu Utami’s three novels, namely Bilangan Fu, Manjali dan Cakrabirawa,and Maya. The findings are as follows. First, the three novels portray characters’ struggleagainst patriarchy power over nature, environment, and women in the Sewugunung parkarea and the Calwanarang temple site in the New Order era. Second, the forms of theresistance that the characters make are in line with ecofeminism and are deconstructionstrategies against patriarchal power over nature,environment, and women.Keywords: ecofeminism, nature, patriarchy, novels, Ayu Utami

Abstract

The purpose of this training is to practice of the Kindergarden’s Teacherswrite children’s song as a media of mitigative dissasters. Song is not only asa tool to entertain but alos to teach vocabularly, as well as, to therapy of traumaticat the childrens.This activity involve 35 teachers of Kinderganrden in Cangkringan. Thisactivity has been done in three minnilesons, dated on Juny 25, July first, andJuli Nine. Method of this program is discussion, brainstorming, and demonstration.The result of this program is producing 30 songs has been arranged bythe participants. A theme if these songs is an environment. The participants hasparticipated enthusiasthicly. They have a new knowledge in creating a song andproposes a same program could bee done in next time.

Abstract

The location of Sebatik Barat on the Indonesia-Malaysia border greatly influences the lives of its people. The use of student language in learning at school is no exception. This study aims to explain the process of Malay language interference when learning Indonesian at SMK Negeri 1 Sebatik Barat. This research was conducted due to disturbances during the interaction of learning Indonesian, both between students and students, as well as students and teachers. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The data used in this study are students' utterances in the form of sentence quotations which show Malay language interference in Indonesian language learning by students at SMK Negeri 1 Sebatik Barat. Based on data analysis, it was found that there were 4 interference factors: (1) being carried away by habits in the mother tongue, (2) insufficient vocabulary of the recipient language, (3) the need for synonyms, and (4) the bilingualism of the speech participants. From these 4 aspects, it can be concluded that the most dominating factor of distraction is the bilingualism of the speech participants.

Abstract

In 21st century learning, it is important for students to master the intellectual abilities of critical thinking and problem solving. Indonesian subject matter that is in accordance with this mission is debate material. This study aims to describe the analysis of the implementation of information processing learning in Indonesian debate materials in class X SMA Negeri 2 Nunukan. This research was conducted because the learning of information processing in Indonesian debate material trains students in critical thinking and reinforces character education values as demanded by 21st Century learning. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The data used in this study are observation notes, documentation, and interviews of class X.MIPA.1 students at SMA Negeri 2 Nunukan in learning Indonesian on debate material. Based on data analysis, it was found that the implementation of the information processing learning model can make students more actively involved in processing or processing information to improve their capabilities in Indonesian debate material. From this learning model, the learning strategy that is in accordance with the character of class X.MIPA.1 students at SMA Negeri 2 Nunukan in implementing information processing learning in Indonesian debate material is an inductive thinking strategy.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the Structure and Educational Values in the novel Guru Aini by Andrea Hirata. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research type. The subject of this research is the novel Guru Aini by Andrea Hirata in 2020. The results of the research show that (1) the intrinsic structure of the novel Guru Aini by Andrea Hirata in 2020 is: (a) the theme is the struggle of women in achieving their goals; (b) the characters and characterizations consist of the main characters, namely Desi and Aini, the characterizations of women who are strong and never give up until their wishes are achieved, and additional characters, namely Runding, the characterizations who are pessimistic, Ayah Desi, the characterizations are humorous, Ibu Desi, the character has a big heart, letting her daughter go to pursue her dreams. - Her goal, Aini's father is a child-loving character, Aini's character is responsible for supporting the family and Laila is a loyal friend; (c) The plot is forward plot: (d) The setting consists of the setting, namely the library, village house, lecture hall, class, official residence, and Aini's house; the time setting consists of morning, afternoon and evening; (e) third person's point of view as an observer. This novel tells about the lives of two figures who fight for education. the struggle of a Mathematics Teacher, namely Teacher Desi. This Desi teacher insisted on becoming a math teacher, her goal was very noble, namely to educate this nation from long ignorance. The journey of a Desi Teacher is not easy to become a Desi Teacher who is seen as a Great and eccentric teacher. This research is focused on knowing the educational values contained in the Novel Guru Aini by Andrea Hirata. The results of this study are that the educational values contained in the Novel Guru Aini by Andrea Hirata include the values of religious education, the values of moral education, the values of social education, and the values of cultural education. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan Struktur dan Nilai-nilai Pendidikan dalam novel Guru Aini karya Andrea Hirata. Penelitian ini mengunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah novel Guru Aini karya Andrea Hirata tahun 2020. Hasil penelitian menunjukan sebagi(1) struktur intrinsik novel Guru Aini karya Andrea Hirata tahun 2020 yaitu: (a) tema yaitu Perjuangan wanita dalam meengapai cita - cita; (b) tokoh dan penokohan terdiri dari tokoh utama yaitu Desi dan Aini penokohannya wanita yang tegar dan pantang menyerah sampai tercapainya keinginannya, dan tokoh tambahan yaitu Runding penokohannya yang pesimis, Ayah Desi penokohannya yang humoris, Ibu Desi penokohannya berjiwa besar melepaskan putrinya pergi mengejar cita- citanya, Ayah Aini penokohannya penyayang anak, Ibu Aini penokohannya bertanggung jawab menghidupi keluarga dan Laila penokohannya setia kawan; (c) Alurnya yaitu alur maju: (d) Latar terdiri dari latar tempat yaitu perpustakaan, rumah desi, tempat kuliah, kelas, rumah dinas, dan rumah Aini; latar waktu terdiri dari pagi, siang sore dan malam hari; (e) sudut pandang persona tiga sebagai pengamat. Novel ini menceritakan tentang kehidupan Kedua tokoh yang memperjuangkan pendidikan. perjuangan seorang Guru Matematika, yaitu Guru Desi. Guru Desi ini bersikeras ingin menjadi guru matematika, tujuannya sangat mulia yaitu ingin mencerdaskan bangsa ini dari kebodohan yang panjang. Perjalanan Guru Desi tidaklah mudah untuk menjadi Guru Desi yang dipandang sebagai guru Hebat dan eksentrik. Penelitian ini difokuskan untuk mengetahui nilai-nilai pendidikan yang terkandung dalam Novel Guru Aini Karya Andrea Hirata. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu bahwa nilai-nilai pendidikan yang terkandung dalam Novel Guru Aini karya Andrea Hirata seperti nilai pendidikan religius, nilai pendidikan moral, nilai pendidikan sosial, dan nilai pendidikan budaya.
