Abstract

Dosen  harus memiliki karakteristik yang diperlukan dalam menciptakan proses pembelajaran yang efektif. Karena itu, menurut hasil penelitian, dosen bahasa Inggris yang baik antara lain memiliki kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang bagus, kreatif dalam menyampaikan materi pembelajaran, bersikap ramah, dan objektif dalam memberikan penilaian terhadap tugas dan kemapuan mahasiswa. Beberapa ciri yang diungkapkan responden spesifik untuk pengajar bahasa Inggris, dan juga ada beberapa karakter yang berlaku universal untuk pengajar secara umum.

Abstract

This study examined the English for Foreign Language (EFL) learners’ difficult topics in the structure and written expression section of the TOEFL Prediction Test, and reasons why they consider that these topics were difficult. A mixed-method research design was used in this study. Fifteen participants were selected through a purposive sampling mechanism from the seventh-semester students of the Department of English Language Education, Universitas Islam Negeri Ar-Raniry who have participated in the TOEFL Prediction Test to identify the difficult topics they encountered. Then, the semi-structured interviews were conducted with six underachieving student’s participants with the most recorded errors made in the test to know the reasons behind their difficulties. Findings indicated that students encountered difficulties mostly when dealing with determiners, conjunctions, adjective clauses, apposition phrases, and reduced clauses in the structure section. Meanwhile, adverb connectors, subject-verb agreement, and clause of concession, relative clause, and quantifier are the difficulties they encountered in the written expression section of the test. Thus, the findings also revealed several factors identified as the reasons behind those difficulties, namely lack of practice, grammar incompetence, vocabulary shortage, time management, and low self-confidence. Given the significant impact of this study, we suggested that the lectures and English departments should address these difficulties. It is crucial that the focus of the courses related to grammar and EFL proficiency tests be incorporated into the syllabus.

Abstract

The Development of Indonesian Language Teaching Materials Based on Know-ledge Integration in Islamic Higher Education. This study aims at describing: (1) the reality and the needs for materials oriented towards knowledge integration, (2) the prototype and evaluation of the developed teaching materials. This is a Research and Development undertaken in UIN Alauddin Makassar involving 138 students, five lecturers, and two expert validators. The results show the currently used materials is not based on knowledge integration. Integration have been undertaken in the developed materials by including related verses or hadith, raising Islamic themes as reading materials and examples. The developed materials were evaluated by expert validators both content and design with the average score of 3.91 and 3.93 respectively and categorized as very good. The gain index for small and large groups is 0.71 and 0.72 respectively and categorized as high.

Abstract

In recent decades, assessment design and implementation issues have been a severe concern in teaching and learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Language assessment, which is inextricably linked to EFL teachers' conceptions and education, influences students and their learning. This case study investigates teachers' underlying beliefs concerning EFL assessment as well as their practices in the classrooms of Indonesian Islamic universities. The study engaged ten university EFL teachers who work in an Indonesian Islamic Higher Education institution. The participants were recruited using the purposive sampling technique. Semi-structured interviews were used to determine teachers' beliefs about language assessment. Thematic analysis was used to transcribe, code and segment data to establish themes, categories, and subcategories that depict participants' beliefs regarding EFL assessment. The findings revealed that the participants used various terms to describe assessment, providing an exciting background to their practices. They also believed in language assessment's varied purposes, including administrative and pedagogical purposes. Most participants conceived assessment as an extension of EFL classroom teaching and learning, thus significantly impacting student learning and approaches to learning. Therefore, considering how assessments enhance student learning would influence teachers' decision-making. This paper also describes the implications of these findings for better governance of institutional systems for assessing English as a Foreign Language

Abstract

This study is aimed to evaluate the learning of Educational Statistics Course at PAI Study Program of STAI Alkhairaat Labuha, Ternate. This is evaluation research, employing the combination of Discrepancy and Kirkpatrick Evaluation Model. The study employed mixed methods involving questionnaires, observation, and documentation. The case study method was used, which included total sampling of 14 students. The research results reveal several significant findings: To begin with, the learning gap for Educational Statistics Course for the 2022/2023 Academic Year is relatively small with 11.57%. Second, the lecturers have pedagogical competence and high professionalism in the student's perspectives. This is indicated by the findings that the gap of pedagogical and professional competence is extremely small with 8.35% and 4.20% respectively. Third, the use of Mastery Learning approach to teach Educational Statistics is considered effective and making Google forms and applications to collect data directly from respondents and data processing procedures provides the most effective learning experience for students. The researchers made the following recommendations: firstly, lecturers should design well-developed and structured lesson plans, and enhance student learning with practical skills to make learning more successful. Second, lecturers are encouraged to improve their pedagogical skills, particularly in the topics of material distribution, calculating material, and to increase learning for quartile material and research hypotheses. Third, lecturers should continue using the Mastery Learning approach in the teaching of Educational Statistics. Fourth, lecturers are urged to fully enhance students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor through direct practices and peer collaboration.

Abstract

Abstrak: Sejak pandemi Covid-19 mulai meningkat, pembelajaran di sekolah mulai diterapkan dengan sistem baru yaitu pembelajaran jarak jauh, tidak ada kegiatan seperti biasanya karena semua dilakukan dari rumah. Maka perubahan kebijakan terhadap dunia pendidikan di Indonesia tidak dapat dihindari. Kesiapan dalam menghadapi perubahan sistem pembelajaran yang memanfaatkan teknologi cukup berbeda; ada yang siap, ada yang terpaksa harus siap, dan ada yang tidak siap sama sekali. Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara dengan tingkat ketidaksiapan tertinggi dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran jarak jauh. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah melihat bagaimana keefektifan pembelajaran jarak jauh di prodi pendidikan Biologi STKIP Pembangunan Indonesia. Penelitian ini akan mengevaluasi pembelajaran jarak jauh di Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi STKIP Pembangunan Indonesia dengan menggunakan pendekatan CIPP. Sumber data berasal dari data primer dan sekunder yang diuji frekuensinya dan uji koefisien korelasi rank Spearman di SPSS. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa pada umumnya banyak pihak yang menyukai pembelajaran jarak jauh, namun banyaknya kendala yang dihadapi menjadi salah satu kendala utama dalam proses PJJ.Abstract: Since the Covid-19 pandemic began to increase, learning at school has already started to be implemented with a new system, namely distance learning, there are no activities as usual because everything is done from home. So policy changes to Indonesia's education world cannot be avoided. Readiness in dealing with changes in learning systems that utilize technology is quite different; some are ready, some are forced to be prepared, and some are not. Indonesia is one of the countries with the highest level of unpreparedness in implementing distance learning. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of distance learning in the Biology education study program STKIP Pembangunan Indonesia. This research will evaluate distance teaching in the Biology Education Study Program STKIP Pembangunan Indonesia using the CIPP approach. The data sources are primary and secondary data, tested for frequency and Spearman's rank correlation coefficient test in SPSS. The study results reveal that, in general, many parties like distance learning, but the many obstacles encountered are one of the main obstacles in the PJJ process.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Evaluasi program tahfizh al-Qur’an di Pondok Masjid Syahrir Fatimah dengan menggunakan model CIPP (context, input, process, product). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif melalui observasi dan wawancara. Ditinjau dari contex hasil penelitian ini adanya implementasi program yang dilakukan sudah tersusun dan terjadwal dengan baik, ditinjau dari inpit seperti sumber daya (pembina / musyrif) yang kompeten sehingga mendapatkan pembinaan yang intensif serta fasilitas yang memadai sehingga dapat menunjang dari program tahfidz, ditinjau dari process pelaksanaan pembelajaran sesuai dengan program dan jam wajib yang telah ditentukan dan disepakati dalam menghafal al-Quran, sedangkan jika ditinjau dari product: pencapaian santri dalam menghafalkan al-Qur’an sudah berjalan sesuai program, santri mampu menghafalkan al-Qur’an dengan fasih. Melalui evaluasi dengan model CIPP peneliti membantu melihat program tahfidz yang dilaksanakn sehingga sumber daya bisa dikatakan efektif dan efisien penggunaanya.

Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the KKSC program at MIS Ushuluddin Singkawang using the Countenance Stake model. KKSC is a camp held by MIS Ushuluddin to develop children's character through Scout activities. This research was a program evaluation study using a qualitative descriptive approach. The evaluation model used was the Countenance Stake model involving three stages, namely the antecedent, transaction, and outcomes stages. This research was conducted at MIS Ushuluddin Singkawang. Data collection techniques used documentation, observation and direct interviews with scout leaders, homeroom teachers, parents, and students at MIS Ushuluddin Singkawang. The results of the research found that KKSC activities as one of the Scouting activities in the context of strengthening student character at MIS Ushuluddin Singkawang had gone well, both in terms of planning and implementation, resulting in good strengthening of character education as expected.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the context, input, process and output components of the Tahfidz Qur'an program at SD Integral Al-Bayan Makassar. This is a descriptive qualitative method using CIPP model. This research involved the Principal, the coordinators of Tahfidz Qur'an, teachers and the fifth grade students of Al-Bayan Integral Elementary School Makassar. Based on the results of evaluation, it can be concluded that the Tahfidz Qur'an program have been conducted well. The evaluation of the context aspects revealed that the existence of the program is in line with the vision and mission of its founders. The program is also in line with the needs of the stakeholders. The evaluation of the input component indicated that adequate resources support the implementation of the program. This includes support from the leaders, existence of evaluation of the Tahfidz Qur'an program, availability of Tahfidz Qur'an teachers who fulfill standards, sufficient financial support, supporting facilities and infrastructure, various procedures and strategies used in the learning and teaching processes. The evaluation of the process revealed the implementation of the program is going well. This is proved by the suitability between the plan and implementation, the methods used, the allocation of time used starting from tahsin, guidance, memorization, as well as teacher assessment. The product evaluation revealed that of the 49 students at Grade Five, 33 students (67.3) achieved the required target, only two students (4.1%) did not meet the target, and 14 students (28.6%) exceeded the required target.
