Abstract

A study on the mosquitoes Aedes spp. has been conducted in Kuta Alam Sub-district, Banda Aceh, to find out the percentage and distribution of positive ovitrap with eggs of Aedes aegypti and A. albopictus, based on location of ovitrap, level of rainfall as well as different landuse of settlement areas. Sampling was conducted by setting up ovitrap monthly, from January to December 2010 in settlement area that have more trees versus less trees, both indoor and outdoor. Data of the ovitrap percentage that was proved to be positive with eggs of A. aegypti and A. albopictus was analized using Student T-Test. The study revealed that rainfall value did not significantly affect (P0.05) the percentage of positive A. aegypti and  A. albopictus ovitraps and neither  did the location of ovitrap (indoor versus outdoor). The settlement areas with more trees have significantly higher percentage of ovitraps containing A. albopictus than areas with less trees, but not significant for A. aegypti (P0.05). It was suggested that rainfall and location of ovitrap did not influence the number of ovitrap containing Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus eggs, while settlement landuse  influenced significantly the percentage of positive ovitraps for Aedes albopictus, but not for Aedes. aegypti. Between two villages in Kuta Alam sub-district, it was found out that Gampong Beurawe was dominated by Aedes albopictus while Gampong Kuta Alam by Aedes aegypti. Overall, the sensitivity of ovitrap in Kuta Alam subdistrict was 83,7%. The usage of ovitrap is thus recommended for monitoring of Aedes spp. control programs

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kepadatan jentik nyamuk Aedes spp di Gampong Peurada, Kecamatan Syiah Kuala, Kota Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mengunakan metode single larva (survei). Wilayah survei meliputi dusun-dusun yang terdapat di Gampong Peurada yaitu Dusun Setia, Dusun Sentosa dan Dusun Bahagia dengan jumlah sampel yang diambil sebanyak 40 rumah setiap dusun, total sampel sebanyak 120 rumah. Data jentik yang diperoleh dari berbagai jenis wadah yang ditemukan di Gampong Peurada, dihitung kepadatan berdasarkan parameter indeks jentik yaitu House Index (HI), Container Index (CI) dan Bretau Index (BI). Dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan didapatkan nilai Density Figure (DF) adalah 3,3 atau pada rentang (2-5) yang termasuk dalam kategori kepadatan populasi sedang. Hasil tersebut didapatkan dari nilai  indeks jentik nyamuk Aedes spp di Gampong Peurada yaitu House Index (HI) : 17%, Container Index (CI) : 10%, Bretau Index(BI) : 27. (This study was aimed to determine the density of Aedes spp larvae in Peurada Village, Syiah Kuala Subdistrict, Banda Aceh City. This research was conducted by using single larvae method (survey). The survey area includes the hamlets located in Peurada Village, Setia Hamlet; Sentosa Hamlet and Bahagia Hamlet with the number of samples taken as many 40 houses each hamlet, total sample of 120 houses. The larvae data wer obtained from the various types of containers found in Gampong Peurada, were density calculated based on larvae index parameters is House Index (HI), Container Index (CI) dan Bretau Index (BI). The results of research which have been done got value density figure is 3,3 or included in medium density category with Density Figure number (2-5). The results got based on the index larvae of Aedes spp in Gampong Peurada obtained House Index (HI): 17%, Container Index (CI): 10%, Bretau Index (BI): 27.)

Abstract

                        Abstrak            Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menentukan jenis-jenis cacing yang menginfestasi serta prevalensi infestasinya pada sapi Aceh jantan di Pusat Pembibitan Sapi Aceh, Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Penelitian ini menggunakan 50 sampel feses sapi Aceh jantan yang diambil secara acak. Penelitian ini mengunakan metode Apung untuk mengidentifikasi telur cacing nematoda dan metode modifikasi Borray untuk pemeriksaan telur cacing serta metode Mc. Master untuk menghitung jumlah telur tiap gram feses. Dari hasil penelitian ini ditemukan 3 jenis parasit yang menginfeksi Sapi Aceh di Pusat Pembibitan Sapi Aceh, Kabupaten Aceh Besar yaitu Oesophagostomum sp., Haemonchus sp. dan Paramphistomum sp. Sebanyak 4% dari 50 sampel feses sapi Aceh terinfeksi Oesophagostumum sp., 4% dari 50 sampel terinfeksi Haemonchus sp. dan 38% dari 50 sampel terinfeksi Paramphistomum sp. Kisaran jumlah telur nematoda yaitu 200-400 telur tiap gram feses, jumlah tersebut termasuk kategori infeksi ringan.Kata kunci: Feses sapi Aceh, Nematoda, Trematoda Abstract            This study aims to determine and determine the types of infestation of worms and the prevalence of their infestations in male Aceh cattle at the Aceh Cattle Breeding Center, Aceh Besar District. This study used 50 male Aceh cattle feces samples taken randomly. This research used Floating (Apung) method to identify nematode worm eggs and Borray modification method for worm egg examination and McMaster method. to calculate the number of eggs per gram of feces. From the results of this study found 3 types of parasites that infect Aceh Cattle at the Aceh Cattle Breeding Center, Aceh Besar District namely Oesophagostomum sp., Haemonchus sp. and Paramphistomum sp. As many as 4% of 50 Aceh cattle feces samples were infected with Oesophagostomum sp., 4% of 50 samples infected with Haemonchus sp. and 38% of 50 samples infected with Paramphistomum sp. The range of nematode eggs is 200-400 eggs per gram of feces, this number is categorized as mild infection.Keyword: Aceh cattle feces, Nematoda, Trematoda

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah harimau sumatera (Panthera tigris sumatrae) dan harimau benggala (Panthera tigris tigris) di Taman Margasatwa Medan terinfestasi cacing parasit gastrointestinal dan apa saja jenis dari cacing parasit tersebut. Sampel pada penelitian ini menggunakan feses yang dikoleksi untuk pemeriksaan telur cacing yang didapat dari 9 ekor harimau sumatera dan 6 ekor harimau benggala. Sampel diambil tiga kali dalam waktu yang berbeda dengan interval 2 minggu. Sampel feses diambil pada pagi hari dan dimasukkan ke dalam botol sampel dan ditambahkan dengan formalin 10% dengan perbandingan 1:1. Sampel dibawa dengan menggunakan ice box yang telah diisi es ke Laboratorium Parasitologi Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan Univesitas Syiah Kuala untuk dilakukan pemeriksaaan. Pemeriksaan sampel dengan menggunakan metode sentrifugasi,  metode McMaster, dan metode sedimentasi Boray. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan harimau sumatera (Panthera tigris sumatrae) dan harimau benggala (Panthera tigris tigris) di Taman Margasatwa Medan terinfestasi Toxocara cati dan Ancylostoma tubaeformae.  Kata Kunci: Harimau Sumatera, Harimau Benggala, Taman Margasatwa Medan, Toxocara cati, Ancylostoma tubaeformae. ABSTRACTThis study aims to determine whether Sumatran tigers (Panthera tigris sumatrae) and Bengal tigers (Panthera tigris tigris) in Medan Wildlife Park are infected with gastrointestinal parasitic worms and what are the types of parasitic worms. The samples used in this study were faeces from 9 Sumatran tigers and Bengal Bengal as many as 6 in Medan zoo. Samples were taken three times at different times and at intervals of 2 weeks. Samples were taken in the morning and put into bottle samples and added with equal volume of 10% formalin. Samples were transported using ice boxes that were filled with ice to the Laboratory of Parasitology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Syiah Kuala University, to be examined. Sample examination using centrifugation, McMaster, and Boray sedimentation methods. The results of this study indicate that there are two nematode worms infesting Sumatran tigers (Panthera tigris sumatrae) and Bengal tigers (Panthera tigris tigris) in Medan zoo namely Toxocara cati and Ancylostoma tubaeformae. Keyword: Panthera tigris sumatrae, Panthera tigris tigris, Medan Wildlife Park, Toxocara cati, Ancylostoma tubaeformae.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengisolasi dan mengidentifikasi bakteri Pseudomonas sp pada ikan asin di TPI Labuhanhaji Aceh Selatan. Penelitian ini menggunakan 15 sampel ikan asin dari 3 pedagang. Setiap pedagang diambil sejumlah 5 macam ikan asin, diantaranya ikan asin tongkol, dencis, layur, kembung, dan ikan kepala batu lalu diperiksa di Laboratorium Mikrobiologi Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan, Universitas Syiah Kuala Banda Aceh. Ikan asin di stomacher lalu di swab steril dan dimasukkan ke media Nutrien Broth  dan diinkubasikan pada suhu 37oC selama 24 jam, selanjutnya dilakukan penanaman pada media Pseudomonas Agar Base lalu diinkubasikan kembali pada suhu 37o C selama 24 jam. Koloni bakteri yang tumbuh pada media PAB dilakukan pengamatan bentuk bakteri, pigmentasi, permukaan, pinggiran, elevasi dan aspek koloni. Pewarnaan Gram dilakukan untuk memastikan bakteri yang didapat adalah kelompok Gram negatif. Terakhir dilakukan uji IMVIC,uji biokimia Triple Sugar Iron Agar dan uji gula-gula. Hasil penelitian ini di analisis secara deskriptif. Hasil pemeriksaan dari 15 sampel ternyata di temukan adanya pertumbuhan koloni bakteri Pseudomonas sp pada media PAB dan hasil pewarnaan Gram menunjukan Gram negatif. Oleh karena itu dapat di simpulkan bahwa ditemukan  bakteri Pseudomonas sp pada ikan asin di TPI Labuhanhaji Aceh Selatan. ABSTRACTThis study was aimed to isolate and identify Pseudomonas sp bacteria in salted fish in Fishing Auction Station (TPI) in Labuhanhaji Aceh Selatan. This study used 15 salted fish as the samples from 3 different traders. From each trader taken a number of 5 kinds of salted fish,  including Euthynnus affinis, Sardina piichardus, Trichiurus lepturus, Rastrelliger, and Osmeridae then they were checked in Microbiology Laboratory Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Syiah Kuala University Banda Aceh. The salted fishs were placed in stomacher continued by putting them in sterile swab then they were put into Nutrient Broth medium incubated at 37oC for 24 hours, then planted on medium Pseudomonas Agar Base followed by incubating them again at 37oC for another 24 hours. Coloni of bacteria that grow on PAB were conducted to observe its bacterial form, pigmentation, surfaces, edges and elevation and the aspects of the colony. Gram staining was underdone to ensure the bacteria are the Gram-negative group. In the last treatment, IMVIC, Triple Sugar Iron Agar biochemical and sugar test were conducted. The result of this research is analyzed descriptively. The Results of examining 15 samples showed that there are the growth of Pseudomonas sp on PAB media and Gram staining results showed Gram negative. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Pseudomonas sp bacteria on salted fish in TPI Labuhanhaji Aceh Selatan were found.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi jenis lalat penghisap darah sebagai vektor potensial Surra pada kuda di empat Kecamatan di Kabupaten Aceh Tengah. Koleksi sampel dilakukan pada peternakan kuda yang ada di Kecamatan Bebesan, Lut Tawar, Bintang dan Pegasing. Dalam penelitian ini masing-masing lokasi dipasang perangkap lalat tipe NZ1 trap yang ditempatkan di sekitar kandang berjarak sekitar ± 10 m dari kandang selama 24 jam dan menggunakan tangguk serangga (sweepnet) yang dilakukan pada daerah dalam kandang. Lalat dieuthanasi menggunakan alkohol 70% kemudian disimpan dalam botol sampel. Seluruh sampel yang diperoleh dari setiap lokasi diidentifikasi menggunakan kunci identifikasi. Hasil yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan pada kuda di Kabupaten Aceh Tengah diperoleh 2 (dua) jenis lalat penghisap darah yaitu S. calcitrans dan H.  irritans. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kuda di Kabupaten Aceh Tengah terinfestasi S. calcitrans dan H. irritansKata kunci: Kuda, lalat penghisap darah, SurraABSTRACT               This study aims to identify blood-sucking flies as the potential vector of surra in horse in Aceh Tengah District. The collection of samples were carried out on farms in Bebesan, Lut Tawar, B andintang and Pegasing subdistricts. In this study, NZ1 trap  was installed in each location about ± 10 m from the istal for 24 hours and using insect net (sweepnet) inside the enclosure area. The fly was euthanized using 75% alcohol in sample bottle. All samples obtained from each location were identified using identification keys. The result of this study was analyzed descriptively. The results of study conducted in the livestock in Aceh Tengah district obtained 2 blood-sucking flies, S. calcitrans and H. irritans. It is concluded that hematophagus flies that infest horse in Aceh Tengah District are S. calcitrans and H. irritans.Key words: Horse, Hematophagus fly, Surra

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeteksi ada atau tidaknya sistiserkus cacing pita (Taenia spp) pada babi yang dipotong di rumah potong hewan Medan Sumatera Utara. Sistiserkus merupakan metacestoda dari larva Taenia solium. Deteksi sistiserkus sangat diperlukan untuk memahami pola distribusi, prevalensi dan cara penularan penyakit (siklus hidup T. solium). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada Maret 2017. Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 20 ekor dengan menggunakan dengan simple random sampling. Sampel yang sudah dikumpulkan diperiksa secara makroskopik postmortem dengan cara melihat tanda- tanda sistiserkosis pada daging seperti lepuhan pada sampel. Data yang di peroleh akan di analisis secara deskriptif. Hasil pemeriksaan menunjukkan seluruh sampel negatif terdeteksi sistiserkus asal babi-babi milik peternak yang di potong di RPH.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi parasit gastrointestinal pada beruang madu (Helarctos malayanus) di Taman Margasatwa Medan. Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel feses dari 5 ekor beruang madu yang diperiksa tiga kali dengan interval waktu 3 minggu. Penelitian ini mengunakan metode sentrifus, metode McMaster, dan metode Boray dan hasil penelitian ini dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa 3 dari 5 sampel terinfestasi parasit gastrointestinal Ancylostoma spp dan Trichuris spp. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa beruang madu (Helarctos malayanus) di Taman Margasatwa Medan tereinfestasi parasit gastrointestinal Ancylostoma spp dan Trichuris spp. Kata kunci : Parasit gastrointestinal, Beruang Madu, Ancylostoma spp, Trichuris spp. ABSTRACT          This study aims to identify the gastrointestinal parasite in the sun bear (Helarctos malayanus) in Medan Wildlife Park. This study used fecal samples from  5 sun bears taken three times with 3 weeks interval. This study used the centrifuge method, McMaster method, and the Boray method and the results of this study were analyzed descriptively. Abstract

Gajah sumatera merupakan satwa endemik Indonesia yang tercatat ke dalam status yang terancam punah atau kritis. Dalam mempertahankan keberadaan dan kelestariannya maka populasi gajah harus dijaga. Gajah sumatera rentan terhadap berbagai penyakit, salah satunya disebabkan oleh parasit gastrointestinal. Infeksi parasit gastrointestinal merupakan faktor yang mengganggu kesehatan gajah sumatera. Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat keefektifan antelmintik dengan melihat keberadaan jenis endoparasit sebelum dan sesudah pemberian antelmintik pada gajah sumatera di tujuh lokasi Conservation Respon Unit (CRU) dan PKG Saree Aceh. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada Laboratorium Parasitologi FKH USK dan pengambilan sampel feses gajah pada CRU Sampoiniet Kabupaten Aceh Jaya, CRU Alue Kuyuen, Kabupaten Aceh Barat, CRU Trumon, Kabupaten Aceh Selatan, CRU Mila, Kabupaten Pidie Jaya, CRU Serbajadi, Kabupaten Aceh Timur, CRU Das Peusangan, Bener Meriah, dan PKG Saree Aceh. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan Fecal Egg Count Reduction Test (FECRT). Hasil FECRT menunjukkan efektivitas antelmintik yang digunakan dalam mengobati gajah sumatera pada CRU Aceh sangat efektif hingga mencapai 100% terhadap parasit yang menyerang gajah sumatera di CRU dan PKG Aceh. Kata kunci: gajah sumatera, parasit pada gajah, antelmintik Sumatran elephants are endemic to Indonesia which are listed as endangered or critical. In maintaining its existence and sustainability, the elephant population must be maintained. Sumatran elephants are susceptible to various diseases, one of which is caused by gastrointestinal parasites. Gastrointestinal parasitic infection is a factor that interferes with the health of the Sumatran elephant. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of anthelmintics by observing the presence of endoparasites before and before offering anthelmintics to Sumatran elephants at seven locations of the Conservation Response Unit (CRU) and PKG Saree Aceh. This research was conducted at the USK FKH Parasitology Laboratory and took samples of elephant feces at the Sampoiniet CRU, Aceh Jaya Regency, Alue Kuyuen CRU, West Aceh Regency, Trumon CRU, South Aceh Regency, Mila CRU, Pidie Jaya Regency, Serbajadi CRU, East Aceh Regency, CRU Das Peusangan, Bener Meriah, and PKG Saree Aceh. The data obtained were analyzed by Fecal Egg Count Reduction Test (FECRT). FECRT results show the effectiveness of deworming drugs used in treating Sumatran elephants at CRU Aceh is very effective up to 100% against parasites that attack Sumatran elephants at CRU and PKG Aceh. Key words: Sumatran elephant, parasites in elephant, anthelmintic
