Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out whether or not there is an improving speaking active ability by using direct method on 2nd semester of midwifery students of  STIK Bina Husada Palembang.  This research was true experimental design the sample of  this research was taken by using total sampling with total 70 students of midwifery students at STIK Bina Husada Palembang. The data were obtained by using speaking test on pre and post. To verify the hypotheses, the primary data were analyzed by using t-test and paired sample corellation analyses by SPPSS version 22 computer Program Based on the data analysis, the improving speaking active ability by using direct method Based on the data analysis, t test in the pre test and post test experiment was pre 68 and post 81 and the paired sample correlation got 0.770 at the significance level of p <0.05. Because the t and r-obtained values were higher. And from the average score obtained by students it can be seen that there was significant improving speak active ability especially in comprehension and fluency. It can be concluded that, the direct method usage in the class can improve the students’ speaking active ability Keywords: direct method, and speaking.

Abstract

ABSTRACT : The objective of this research was to find out whether or not thereis a influencing of media sentence building grid to the increasing writing ability on midwifery students. This research was descriptive study and the sample of this research was taken by using total sampling with total 70 midwifery students at STIK Bina Husada Palembang. The data were obtained by using writing test that were analyzed by using t-test and paired sample correlation analyses by means of Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) version 12.00 computer program. Based on the data analysis, the influencing  of media sentence building to the increasing writing ability in paragraph was 4.750 at the significance level p< 0.05 in two tailed. Since the value of t-obtained was higher than the critical value of t-table and the paired sample was 0.540. Most of students got the improvement and the outstanding level after giving the treatment. It meant that there was a significant influencing of building sentence grid to the increasing writing ability. Keywords: influencing, media sentence building grid, and writing ability.

Abstract

Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan (STIK) Bina Husada merupakan Perguruan Tinggi (PT) swasta yang ada kota palembang. Media yang digunakan untuk perkuliahan atau belajar mengajar masih banyak yang menggunakan modul atau buku (media kertas). Hal seperti ini berakibat kepada mahasiswa, kurang memahami materi matakuliah karena ada materi yang terlewatkan sehingga kurang maksimal ilmu yang diperoleh. Adapun solusi yang bisa digunakan untuk mengatasi permasalahn tersebut, perlu melakukan pengembangan media yang digunakan untuk proses belajar mengajar yaitu media digital (modul digital). Modul digital merupakan modul yang disajikan dalam format elektronik. Penelitian ini mengembangakan teknologi informasi berupa modul digital berbasis web responsive untuk meningkatkan belajar mahasiswa STIK Bina Husada Palembang. Tujuan dari pengembangan ini diharapkan untuk mempermudah mahasiswa dalam proses belajar, karena modul digital dapat diakses dan dipelajarin dimanapun tempatnya secara online menggunakan smartphone. Modul digital tersebut merupakan modul digital full dari materi pertemuan pertama sampai pertemuan akhir. Metode pengembangan aplikasi yang digunakan yaitu linier sequential model dengan beberapa tahapan yaitu analysis, design, coding, testing, and support, sedangkan teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu teknik observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil dari penelitian tersebut berupa aplikasi modul digital berbasis web responsive pada STIK Bina Husada Palembang

Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out the description of the anxiety of speaking English ability in ICT usage as media TEFL on nursing students of STIK Bina Husada Palembang. , The sample of this research was taken by using a totaling sampling technique with 18 nursing students of the 3rd semester. The data was obtained from questionnaires and speaking tests in one day. Then from the data analysis, it’s obtained that there was based on a questionnaire from 18 students, the study result showed that 1 student never felt anxiety and 2 felt very often. The use of ICT helps them more confidence that form 1 students become 1 student who was in high and 6 in low anxiety level rather than the use of face to face learning that students had a high level in anxiety. The result of the study also obtained the scoring of students’ speaking that all of the students got upper 60 and the highest score from 18 students was 97. The participation of students in zoom or google meetings can be assumed that ICT usage can help the students more active because they can find many sources to develop their knowledge easily and make them more confident.

Abstract

In mastering the language, especially in writing and speaking, the students often face the problem. One of the causes is there is no appropriate method to be used. The chronological order: picture sequence is one of the good ways to overcome the problem. The objective of this research was to find out the description of the use of chronological order: picture sequence in students’ ability of EFL on midwifery students at STIK Bina Husada and STIKES Pembina Palembang. The research used a descriptive quantitative design. The sample of this research was taken by using totaling sampling technique with 51 midwifery students from STIKES Pembina and STIK Bina Husada. The data were obtained from the writing and speaking test in two meetings. Then the data analysis showed that students' score of writing from both institutions got the lowest score was 60, the highest score was 88, and the average score was 77.33. While speaking score the students got the lowest score was 65, the highest score was 90, and the average score was 78.35. The use of picture sequence guided them on what should they rewrite and speak based on the story. Therefore, this method leads them to more confidence in writing and speaking. From the result showed it can be concluded that most of the students were helped by using this method or way to rewrite and retell the story in the form of written and spoken.

Abstract

AbstractThe objective of this research was to find out whether or not there is a correlation between attitudes to the speaking skill. The sample of this research was taken by using total sampling with total 200 students of LP3I Palembang in the academic year 2016/2017. The data were obtained by using questionaire and speaking test. To verify the hypotheses, the primary data were analyzed by using correlation and regression analyses by means of Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) version 12.00 computer program. Based on the data analysis, the correlation coefficient (rxy) was 0.633 at the significance level p< 0.05 in two tailed? Since the value of r-obtained was higher than the critical value of r-table (0.633 >0.1388), the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and consequently, the research hypothesis (H1) was accepted. This shows a significant correlation between attitudes to the speaking skill on LP3I students Palembang in the academic year 2016 - 2017.  And from R2 (the coefficient determiner) was 0.40, it meant that attitude influenced was 40 % of their speaking skill and the rest (60 %) was defined by other factors. It means that there was a significant influence of attitude on the students’ speaking skill.Key words: Attitude and Speaking Skill

Abstract

Bina Husada College of Health is a private university in Palembang. The media used for lectures or teaching and learning still use modules or books (print media), and when in the classroom media are used projectors, blackboards. The problem that arises from this is that students will miss the material if students are unable to attend, when using a print module students must study in certain places to repeat the material even students are lazy to bring printed books. The solution that can be used to overcome these problems is to develop media that are used for teaching and learning process, namely digital media (digital modules). Digital modules are modules that are presented in electronic format. This research develops information technology in the form of responsive web-based digital modules to improve student learning at STIK Bina Husada Palembang. The purpose of this development is expected to help students who miss the material, making it easier for students in the learning process, because digital modules can be accessed and studied wherever the place is online using a smartphone. The digital module is a full digital module from the first meeting material to the final meeting. The application development method used is a linear sequential model with several stages, namely analysis, design, coding, testing, and support, while the data collection techniques used are observation, interview and documentation. Permasalahan yang ditimbulkan dari hal tersebut adalah mahasiswa akan ketinggalan materi apabila mahasiswa berhalangan hadir, apabila menggunakan modul cetak mahasiswa harus belajaran ditempat tertentu untuk mengulang materi bahkan mahasiswa cedrung malas membawak buku cetak. Adapun solusi yang bisa digunakan untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut adalah dengan melakukan pengembangan media yang digunakan untuk proses belajar mengajar yaitu media digital (modul digital). Abstract

This research aimed to promote the reading achievement of the first STIK Bina Husada Palembang midwifery students using the Hamburger strategy. A quasi-experimental method was used, with a non-equivalent group design for the pretest and posttest. The samples consisted of 38 students from STIK Bina Husada Palembang's first-semester midwifery students. A written test with multiple-choice questions was utilized to collect data. The test was found to be both valid and reliable. The value of t-obtained (5.57) was greater than t-table (2.02) at the significant level of p0.05, according to the results of the independent t-test. It was deduced that the Hamburger strategy could promote students’ reading achievement. It meant that the Hamburger strategy could help students improve their reading skills, particularly in recounting text. The Hamburger strategy helped students to stimulate their memory to learn, retain a text, and store information from the text in their long-term memory so that they could remember the information and comprehend the text properly.
