Abstract

Objective: Cells and tissues are continuously damaged by reactive oxygen species. Cigarette smoke is one of an exogenous source of free radical containing more than 4000 chemical compounds, that triggering the formation of free radicals related to diseases and aging process. Anthocyanins are potent antioxidants that are widely distributed in fruit, vegetables, red wines and Ipomea batatas. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of Ipomea batatas as a source of antioxidants in decreasing levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) and increasing of Nitrous oxide (nitrite/nitrate/NOx) plasma in moderate smokers of workers at Denpasar. Method: This was an experimental study with a pretest-posttest control groups design. There are 33 moderate smokers who were divided into three groups, control group (placebo), treatment group with 15 ml purple sweet potato syrup (P1) and 30 ml (P2), for 14 days. All groups were performed the laboratory examinations for MDA and NOx plasma before and after the treatment. Results: This study showed that there were significant differences (p <0.05) both in MDA and NOx plasma levels in the control group, P1 and P2. The decrease of MDA levels on P1 was 35.39% and on P2 was 49.87%. The increase of NOx plasma levels was 7.78% for P1 and 14.68% for P2. Conclusion: From this study, it can be concluded that Ipomea batatas syrup contains of 8mg/mL anthocyanins, probably play a role in reducing the free radical and thus reducing the risk of disease and slowing the aging process.

Abstract

A downward trend of physical activity level within the population of college students was observed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Various adjustments within their daily habits caused changes to the population’s sleep quality and physical activity level. The purpose of this study is to research the correlation between physical activity level and sleep quality in preclinical medical students in Udayana University. This study was conducted using an analytic cross-sectional method and consecutive sampling technique involving 282 preclinical medical students of Udayana University from academic year of 2018, 2019, and 2020. The data were obtained via the scores of Global Physical Activity Questionnaire and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. The GPAQ score showed that 123 (43.6%), 127 (45%), and 32 respondents (11.4%) respectively had a low, moderate, and high level of physical activity. Meanwhile, the PSQI score showed that 102 respondents (36.2%) had a good sleep quality and 180 respondents (63.8%) had a bad sleep quality. The average PSQI score of the respondents was 5.23 (cut off = 5). The correlation between the level of physical activity and sleep quality was analyzed using the Chi-Square method and was deemed insignificant (p = 0.172; 2-sided). The majority of preclinical medical students had low-to-moderate level of physical activity and bad sleep quality. No significant correlation was found between level of physical activity and sleep quality in preclinical medical students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Further studies are needed to determine other factors that might affect physical activity level and sleep quality within the population. Abstract

High-intensity exercise exercises in the exercise process use enormous amounts of muscle glycocal energy to strengthen adipose tissue into energy acids, energy requirements balanced with oxygen demand that will improve pulmonary performance and physiology. Weight-adjusting exercises are adjusted to the adaptation and physiology of muscles, increased muscle development and physiological muscles and muscles increases into more so that the energy process increases both muscle glycogen and increased fat oxidation. In this study the sample will be divided into 2 groups, group I will be given High intensity interval training, group II will be given Circuit weight training, both groups aim to reduce the percentage of body fat and increase the vital capacity of the lung. This study measures the pre and post test results so that it will be measured before treatment and after treatment after the exercise program for 6 weeks. Samples will be measured using Bioelectrical Impedance Analisys to measure the percentage of body fat and Spirometry to measure vital pulmonary capacity.The results of the first group hypothesis test showed the value before the fat percentage of 21.75 and after training to be 19.46, then before the vital capacity of the lungs 2.32 and after training to 4.02. While in group 2 the fat percentage value was 21.55 and the training was determined to be 19.79. For the value of vital capacity of lung 2.46 and after training to 3.64, with the probability value in both groups was 0.000 which means (p <0.05) and the measurement was no significant difference from both exercises. In the test of hypothesis III the comparison of results in group I , II, t-test independent sample with the result of the average group I fat difference 2.29 ± 0.46, KVparu 1.75 ± 0.55, Group II fat% 1.70 ± 0.43, KVparu 1.17 ± 0.45 with fat% probability value (p = 0,725) and KVparu (p = 0,073) which means (p> 0,05) and can. There was no significant difference between the three interventions.The conclusion of this research is high intensity interval training as well as ciecuit weight training in decreasing body fat percentage and increasing vital capacity of lung

Abstract

Futsal is a sport that is popular in the community in performed in many groups, from young children to adults. Futsal is a game that is almost the same as soccer, and now futsal is an international sport, the impact of the entire country playing futsal. This study aims to determine the zig-zag run dribbling training and shuttle run dribbling training equally well in improving Dwijendra Denpasar's high school futsal dribbling skills. This study used an experimental research design Randomized pretest-posttest control group design involving 22 extracurricular swimming students, aged 16-17 years who had good physical fitness. The research subjects were divided into two groups using simple random allocation techniques. Group I was given zig-zag run dribbling training and Group II was given dribbling shuttle run training with the frequency of exercise 3 times a week for 6 weeks. Research shows that the average speed of futsal dribbling in Group I is 23.16 ± 2.7 seconds increasing to 17.36 ± 2.29 seconds and in Group II it is 22.54 ± 2.62 seconds increasing to 18.45 ± 2.20 seconds with a value of p < 0 ,05. This means that there has been a significant and significant increase in training after training. It can be concluded that zig-zag run dribbling training and shuttle run dribbling training are equally good at increasing Dwijendra Denpasar's high school futsal ball speed.Keywords: Zig-zag Run Dribbling, Shuttle Run Dribbling, Speed of herding Futsal Balls

Abstract

ABSTRACT Increased duration of gadget usage since COVID-19 pandemics can cause various negative impacts if implemented without considering ergonomic factors, especially body and neck posture. One of those impacts that often found is musculoskeletal disorders like neck pain due to excessive cervical flexion load. However, incidence of neck pain also affected by many other factors, such as physical activity and exercise habit. This study aims to determine the correlation between posture, duration of gadget usage, and physical activity during COVID-19 pandemic to the occurrence of neck pain among Medical Students in Udayana University. An analytical observational study was conducted with cross-sectional approach using questionnaire adapted from Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire to measure quantity and quality of neck pain of 106 medical students in Udayana University. The correlation between variables was then analyzed by Chi-square test. Results of this study showed that 77.4% of medical students in Udayana University usually use gadget ?56 hours a week and 61.3% of medical students have experienced neck pain in last 12 months during COVID-19 pandemic. Analytical study showed that correlation between posture and neck pain has p-value = 0.016 (<0.05), physical activity and neck pain has p-value = 0.012 (<0.05), while duration of gadget usage and neck pain has p-value = 0.733 (>0.05). It can be concluded that there are significant correlations between posture while using gadget and physical activity to neck pain, but there is no significant correlation between duration of gadget usage and neck pain during COVID-19 pandemic among medical students in Udayana University. Abstract

Aerobic physical activity that is carried out by someone with the proper intensity will providehealth benefits. Intensity aerobic activity is recommended moderate intensity, based on thepulse. Traditional dance is one of the AF aerobic. However, no studies have investigated howthe pulse pattern dancer when this traditional dance and how much energy consumption ofthis traditional dance. This study will provide scientific evidence that supports the traditionaldance as one of the aerobic physical activity choices. The study involved eight studentsdaughters to dance three types of traditional Balinese dance are common, namely Tari SekarJagat (TSJ), Tari Cendrawasih (TCN) and Tari Panyembrahma (TPM). Pulse measurementis done by using Telemetry Garmin Forerunner 404 continuously until the end of the dance.Measurement of the amount of energy used during the dance is the online calculation of theworkload on the Garmin website. The results showed that all three types of dance meets thecriteria of mild intensity aerobic physical activity - being. Highest pulse work found in theTCN pulse reaches 78% of maximum, while the TSJ and TPM, respectively 65% and 62%.The third dance training zone and reach steady state for 6 to 8 minutes. Highest energyconsumption found in dance TCN by 40 Calories, and TSJ and TPM, respectively 27 and 21Calories. Thus the three traditional Balinese dance meets the criteria as a mild-intensityaerobic exercise - is that can provide health benefits for dancers.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBasketball is a big ball game that requires well cardiovascular endurance. Cardiovasculer endurance can be improved using interval training and fartlek training. This study aimed to determine the effect of interval training and fartlek training on cardiovascular endurance improvement. The study was a experimental that use randomized pretest posttest design group control that does in SMA Negeri 1 Sukawati. The sample of study was students of extracurricular basketball SMA Negeri 1 Sukawati, which were 22 students that divided into 2 groups. Both groups were given different training during 6 weeks with training frequency three times a week for one and a half months. The first group was given interval training and the second group was given fartlek training. Cardiovascular endurance was measured with a multistage fitness test (MFT). The result showed the mean of cardiovascular endurance between the groups after training was 41.66 ± 2.733 ml / kg / minute in the interval training group and was 48.92 ± 2.385 ml / kg / minute in the fartlek group. The cardiovascular endurance between both groups was significantly different (p<0.05), meaningful and have improvement. The conclusion is the interval training and fartlek training are able to improve cardiovascular endurance, however fartlek training is better than interval training in improving cardiovascular endurance. Therefore, it is advisable to use fartlek training to improve cardiovascular endurance for basketball players.Keywords: cardiovascular endurance, fartlek training, interval training

Abstract

Introduction: Quadriceps strengthening usualy find in fitness center or clinical rehabilitation physiotherapy programs, there are two methods in strengthening quadriceps programs, closed kinetic chain and open kinetic chain methods, several researchers use to used these methods for reducing pain intensity, improve functional ability and reducing quadriceps angle, indeed these methods can be used to prevent patellofemoral pain syndrome risk in asymptomatic person with abnormal q angle. Purpose: Purpose of this study is to study the difference of closed and open kinetic chain to maintain quadriceps angle on subject with abnormal quadriceps angle. Method: This experimental study is to compare closed and open kinetic chain to maintain quadriceps angle in subject with abnormal quadriceps angle, thirty six males samples 15 to 21 years old devided into two Groups, Group 1 applied a treatment with closed kinetic chain methods using barbell squat training and the second group have applied a treatment with open kinetic chain method using leg extension training, quadriceps angle measured before and after treatment to each Group, Result: Both quadriceps strengthening methods, closed and open kinetic chain has same beneficial to maintain quadriceps angle, Group 1 after analyzed by paired t test show the mean right quadriceps angle 13.38 ± 2.93 degree and the mean of left quadriceps angle 12.88 ± 2.44 degree, with significancy value p = 0.001, likewise in Group 2 after analyzed by paired t test show the mean of right quadriceps angle 15.66 ± 2.74 degree and the mean of left quadriceps angle is 15.38 ± 3.22 degree, with significancy value p = 0.001, but closed kinetic chain method is more effective than open kinetic chain in maintaining quadriceps angle with p < 0.05. Conclusion: Therefore this result of study can be reference for reader as an athlete, fitness instructor and physiotherapist in order to get better understanding to choose and create best training program for quadriceps strengthening. Therefore it’s been suggest to someone if they have abnormal quadriceps angle, they must choose the closed kinetic chain exercise as the main program in quadriceps training program

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Gangguan stabilitas adalah masalah yang sering terjadi pada pasien yang terkena ankle sprain kronis. Ketidakstabilan pada ankle sprain kronik merupakan hasil dari saraf (proprioseptif, refleks, waktu reaksi otot), otot (strenght, power, dan endurance) dan mechanical mechanism (ligament laxity). Tujuan Penelitian: untuk membuktikan bahwa latihan proprioseptif dan theraband exercise lebih meningkatkan stabilitas dibanding latihan proprioseptif dan antero posterior glide pada pemain basket yang mengalami ankle sprain kronis. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan rancangan pre dan post test control group design. Jumlah sampel penelitian 16 orang dan terbagi ke dalam dua kelompok. Kelompok I mendapat perlakuan latihan proprioseptif dan theraband exercise sedangkan Kelompok II mendapat perlakuan latihan proprioseptif dan antero posterior glide. Stabilitas diukur menggunakan Balance Error Scoring System. Hasil: Independent t-test menghasilkan p= 0,000 (p<0,05). Hasil ini menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna antara nilai selisih sebelum dan setelah intervensi BESS pada ke dua kelompok. Simpulan: latihan proprioseptif dan theraband exercise lebih meningkatkan stabilitas dibanding latihan proprioseptif dan antero posterior glide pada pemain basket yang mengalami ankle sprain kronis

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Penurunan fleksibilitas pada wanita dapat memicu terjadi nya penyakit, terutama keluhan muskuloskeletal yaitu cedera pada lumbal. Wanita dianjurkan untuk melakukan latihan-latihan sehingga dapat mencegah penurunan fleksibilitas. Tujuan: Mengetahui hubungan frekuensi senam yoga dengan fleksibilitas lumbal pada wanita. Metode: Penelitian observational analitik dengan pendekatan potong lintang yang menyertakan 45 wanita usia 20-45 tahun di Kota Denpasar. Sampel dipilah dengan teknik purposive sampling yang dilakukan pada empat studio senam yoga dan satu lapangan di Kota Denpasar selama bulan Juli – Agustus 2019. Data diperoleh dengan lembar pengumpulan data dan pengukuran fleksibilitas lumbal dengan sit and reach test. Data dianalisis dengan uji chi-square dan somers’d untuk mengetahui hubungan frekuensi senam yoga dengan fleksibilitas lumbal pada wanita. Hasil: Berdasarkan hasil uji, didapatkan nilai p=0,0001 (p<0,05) dan r=0,643(0,6? r ?0,8) memperlihatkan hubungan kuat dan bermakna antara frekuensi senam yoga dengan fleksibilitas lumbal pada wanita usia 20-45 tahun di Kota Denpasar. Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan signifikan antara frekuensi senam yoga dengan fleksibilitas lumbal ditandai dengan peningkatan nilai ukur fleksibilitas lumbal pada wanita dengan frekuensi senam yoga yang sangat rutin.
