The samples in this study were 34 samples taken using purposive sampling technique. The statistical test used is Chi-square.The research results obtained factors that influence the choice of delivery location. For the factors of knowledge, family support and access (distance to location of health facility), the p-values were respectively 0.003, 0.01 and 0.035, which means that the factors knowledge, family support and access (distance to location of health facility) influence the choice of delivery location. Conclusion: knowledge, family support and access (distance to health facilities) are factors that influence the choice of delivery place at the Libarek Health Center, Jayawijaya Regency. Keywords: Delivery place, knowledge, family support, access

Abstract

This Community Service aims to improve the knowledge of postpartum mothers about protein-rich nutrition and factors that can inhibit iron absorption. The methods used include counseling, teaching the preparation of snakehead fish nuggets, and health examinations. This activity was conducted in Sereh Village, Sentani, from May to November 2023, with stages including leaflet distribution, nutritional counseling, and hemoglobin level checks before and after consuming nuggets for 14 days. Prior to the main activities, a trial for nugget preparation was conducted, followed by home visits for observation and evaluation. The hemoglobin level checks revealed that 10 (38.46%) postpartum and breastfeeding mothers experienced mild anemia, while 16 (61.54%) did not have anemia, with an average hemoglobin level of 10.196 g/dl. After consuming 100 grams of nuggets daily for 14 days, changes in hemoglobin levels were observed, with mothers who previously experienced mild anemia transitioning to a non-anemic status. The average hemoglobin level after consuming snakehead fish nuggets was 12.308 g/dl, with an average increase of 2.116 g/dl before and after nugget consumption. The conclusion of this community service activity indicates that postpartum mothers experienced an increase in knowledge regarding the importance of protein-rich nutrition and factors that can inhibit iron absorption.

Abstract

Malaria is usually spread by the bite of a female Anopheles mosquito that has the disease., which feeds on blood to support egg development. Anopheles mosquitoes are typically active at night. During the blood-feeding process, the mosquito’s saliva containing Plasmodium parasites in the gametocyte stage enters the human body. Within the body, the male and female sexual forms (gametes) of the parasite unite to form a cyst-like sporozoite. These sporozoites then travel to the liver, where they multiply and develop into exoerythrocytic schizonts. Malaria can have negative impacts on pregnant women and their unborn babies. These effects may include maternal and infant death or a range of complications affecting the mother, fetus, and newborn. This research seeks to explore how malaria during pregnancy affects the weight of the placenta and the weight of newborns. A quantitative method with a descriptive approach was used. The study subjects were pregnant women infected with malaria who gave birth at the Sentani Health Center. Among the 12 respondents infected with malaria, all had placental weights of less than 500 grams. Meanwhile, the 20 respondents who were not infected with malaria all had placental weights of 500 grams or more. The Chi-square test for placental weight yielded a p-value of 0.000, indicating a significant effect of malaria infection in pregnant women on placental weight at Sentani Health Center, Jayapura Regency, in 2024.
