As seen in Figure 4.1, the majority of respondents (60 out of 102, or 58.8%) are men. O the total responders, only 42 (or 41.2%) are female. Male respondents made up 68.50% of the sample overall, while female respondents made up 31.50% of the SMEs in the Cape Metropole that were the subject of the study (Tabot, 2019).. Therefore, it is reasonable tc assume that men make up the majority of SMEs' owners and managers. However, the current study's slightly greater percentage of female participants than the researct previously cited may suggest that more women are founding their own SMEs.

Twc respondents, or 2.0%, employed between 150 and 200 and more than 200 permanen employees, respectively, while one respondent, or 1.0%, employed 100-150 permanen employees. The National Small Business Act of 1996 classifies most businesses as small. sized enterprises. This is in accordance with the previously reported results 64.
