Dayum is a series of web animations using Minecraft to illustrate things.

Most often, these things are lists of stereotypes or common behaviours in certain situations (e.g. "Boys vs. Girls" or "Types of People at the Beach"). These stereotypes and behaviours are usually comically exaggerated — characters are often shown murdering one another for minor injustices like cutting in line, for instance.

• Abhorrent Admirer: In “Types of People at the Beach Portrayed by Minecraft”, Eric calls a woman he sees from behind hot. However, when she turns around, she turns out to have a very ugly face… but she likes him.
• Abnormal Allergy:
  • Discussed in “Types of Kids Visiting the Doctor Portrayed by Minecraft” where Jake lies that he’s “allergic to pain” to get out of a shot.
  • In “Types of People at the Beach Portrayed by Minecraft”, Abigail is allergic to sunlight of all things, so bursts into flames when out in the sun.
• Absurd Phobia: One doctor in “Types of Doctors Portrayed by Minecraft # 2” is afraid of apples, parodying the expression “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”.
• Abusive Parents: “Types of Parents Portrayed by Minecraft” features Zheng’s dad, who canes his son just for getting 99/100, and another dad who’s straight up called “The Abusive” who beats his son while drunk.
• Accidental Misnaming: In “Types of Students on the First Day of School Portrayed by Minecraft”, Jared forgets the name of a classmate, calling him Henry, Harry, Hilton, and Heisenberg. We never find out his real name, and he shoots Jared to death as punishment.
• Accidental Murder:
  • In “Types of Students Presenting in Class Portrayed by Minecraft”, Dylan brings a gun to school for a presentation on gun safety, but forgets to check if it’s empty, thus accidentally shooting his teacher Mr. Jean to death.
  • In “Types of Kids Visiting the Doctor Portrayed by Minecraft”, a doctor accidentally injects Connor with a lethal poison.
  • Hank from “Types of Kids at Sleepovers Portrayed by Minecraft” accidentally shoots Clint to death by mistaking a real gun for a toy one.
  • In “Types of Kids Portrayed by Minecraft”, an unnamed boy sees a gun lying around, thinks it’s a toy one, and accidentally shoots one of his parents to death.
• Accidental Pervert:
  • In “Brother vs. Sister Portrayed by Minecraft”, the sister somehow declares there’s a pervert in her room when her sibling enters.
  • In “Boys vs. Girls Portrayed by Minecraft”, Ruth thinks a man at the gym is staring at her butt.
• Adaptational Explanation: “School Subjects Portrayed by Minecraft” reveals why soul sand burns with a blue flame – it contains copper chloride.
• Adaptational Intelligence: In “Pixar Movies Portrayed by Minecraft”, Russell from Up (who, in canon, was just a normal boy) is smart enough to calculate how many balloons it would take to lift a house.
• Adaptational Villainy: While Miss Hattie canonically was already a jerk in Despicable Me; giving the girls timeouts, making them clean for her, and insulting them, in “Illumination Movies Portrayed by Minecraft”, she’s gone from mean to straight-up evil, letting Gru adopt the girls (claiming they’re “an eyesore anyways”) despite him outright saying he wants them for an evil plan rather than lying like in the movie.
• Aerith and Bob: Most of the characters have normal names, like Dylan or Amy, but some have username-type names, like “Dayum1999” or “Josh1”.
• Afraid of Blood: Liam from “Types of Kids at the Dentist Portrayed by Minecraft” is afraid of blood to the point of passing out when he sees it.
• Afraid of Doctors:
  • Wyatt, the “Anxious” from “Types of Patients Portrayed by Minecraft # 2”, has high blood pressure and runs out of the hospital saying, “I can’t do this anymore!”.
  • Several kids in “Types of Kids at the Dentist Portrayed by Minecraft” are scared – one screams, one clams up, one wets the chair, and one (Emily) thinks she’s going to die.
  • In “Types of Kids Visiting the Doctor Portrayed by Minecraft”, Coby runs away.
• Afraid of Needles:
  • Peter from “Types of Patients Portrayed by Minecraft” screams and wets his pants at the idea of having his blood drawn.
  • Henry from “Types of Kids Visiting the Doctor Portrayed by Minecraft screams when he sees a needle, Carla yells that she’s dying when about to be vaccinated, the “Scaredy-Cat” runs all over the show when the doctor tries to vaccinate him, John hides from the needle in a box, Jake tries to make up excuses for not getting his shot, and Kevin tries to run away from the needle. Played for Horror for Juan, who shoots the doctor for trying to give him a shot.
  • Cheem from “Types of Reactions to Vaccines Portrayed by Minecraft” runs away due to fear of an injection killing him. Candice is also afraid of needles and tries to run away but is stopped.
• Age-Stereotypical Food: In “Stages of Life Portrayed by Minecraft”, the toddler drinks three buckets of milk.
• Alcoholic Parent: The “Abusive” from “Types of Parents Portrayed by Minecraft” beats his son while drunk.
• Alcohol-Induced Idiocy: In “Types of People During Summer Portrayed by Minecraft”, the “Drunkard” drunkenly falls off a skyscraper.
• Alien Abduction:
  • Discussed in “Types of Kids Late for School Portrayed by Minecraft”, in which Lucas lies that he was abducted by aliens as an excuse for being late.
  • Played for laughs in “Urban Legends Portrayed by Minecraft”, in which a man is abducted by aliens, who then decide he’s ugly and they need a different “specimen”.
• All Just a Dream: Angel, the ideal roommate from “Types of Roommates Portrayed by Minecraft # 2”, turns out not to exist; her “roommate” (who may actually live alone) dreamed her up.
• Alpha Bitch:
  • Lia from “Boys vs. Girls at School Portrayed by Minecraft # 2” tells Amy that she is too ugly to sit at the same table as her and her friend.
  • Rose from “Types of People in the Bathroom Portrayed by Minecraft” insults the hair of a girl named Ava and claims no one will invite her to the prom.
• Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: In “Types of Parents Portrayed by Minecraft”, Nate’s friend’s dad embarrasses his son by wearing flashy clothes, dancing, and pretending to break his bone, and Dayum’s parents embarrass him by showing embarrassing photos in front of his girlfriend Jesse.
• Ambiguous Gender: It’s sometimes impossible to tell what gender the viewpoint character is.
• Ambiguously Evil: In “Types of People at Funerals Portrayed by Minecraft”, the “Sus” is implied to have murdered the deceased, since he says, “I apologise… I mean sorry for your loss!”
• Ambulance Cut: In “Types of People at the Gym Portrayed by Minecraft”, Matt is weightlifting and declares he can lift heavier, only for an ambulance to show up.
• Amusing Injuries: In “Types of Kids Visiting the Doctor Portrayed by Minecraft”, Dexter breaks his arm, then his butt, then finally his neck.
• And Your Reward is Edible: In “Types of Siblings Portrayed by Minecraft # 2”, Nolan’s sister wins an art contest, so her mother buys her ice cream.
• Animal Lover: Lola and Kiara from “Boys vs. Girls at School Portrayed by Minecraft # 2” are seen cooing at deer on the field trip.
• Annoyingly Repetitive Child: In “Brother vs. Sister Portrayed by Minecraft # 2”, Diana’s little sister asks her to go to the park. When she says no, the sister says, “Please” over and over until Diana caves in.
• Annoying Younger Sibling:
  • In “Brother vs. Sister Portrayed by Minecraft # 2”, Diana’s little sister begs her to take her to the park and nags, and Ivan’s little brother whines that he wants to play video games too.
  • In “Types of Kids at Sleepovers Portrayed by Minecraft”, Josh’s little sister wants to join in, and when he says no, she accuses him of “bullying” her.
• Anvil on Head: In “Comments Portrayed by Minecraft”, Dayum gets killed by a falling anvil for not subscribing to someone’s channel.
• Asian and Nerdy: Zheng’s dad, the “Asian” on “Types of Parents Portrayed by Minecraft”, canes his son for getting a 99/100 on his exam.
• Asleep in Class:
  • In “Types of Students During Exams Portrayed by Minecraft”, Caden falls asleep and then gets mad at the teacher for not waking him up.
  • In “Types of Teachers Portrayed by Minecraft”, Mr. George goes on a long, boring rant about Christopher Columbus, boring a student to sleep.
  • In “Types of Students Getting Exam Results Portrayed by Minecraft”, Rowan falls asleep in class despite having promised to study.
  • Exaggerated for the “Tired” from “Types of Students on the First Day of School Portrayed by Minecraft”, who brings his bed with him to class to sleep in.
  • Victor from “School Subjects Portrayed by Minecraft” falls asleep in history class.
• Athletically Challenged:
  • Angela from “Boys vs. Girls at School Portrayed by Minecraft” gives up the race halfway through due to finding it “hot and tiring”.
  • Both the boy student and the girl student are portrayed as bad at sports in “Boys vs. Girls at School Portrayed by Minecraft # 2” – she fails at the high jump, and he sleeps in and doesn’t even show up.
• Attention Whore: Dan from “Types of People at the Beach Portrayed by Minecraft” wears winter clothes to the beach just to get attention.
• Axes at School:
  • “Boys vs. Girls at School Portrayed by Minecraft # 2” has Connor, the male prankster, bring a bomb to school as a Deadly Prank, and the boy’s locker has guns in it.
  • Dylan in “Types of Students Portrayed by Minecraft” brings a gun to school for a presentation on gun safety and doesn’t realise he didn’t check if it was empty, accidentally shooting his teacher, Mr. Jean, to death.
  • In “Types of Kids Late for School”, an unnamed student (the “Angry”) shoots the teacher to death just for being given detention.
  • In “Types of Students During Exams Portrayed by Minecraft”, Bryce brings TNT to school and blows up the classroom out of frustration at a test.
  • In “Types of Teachers Portrayed by Minecraft”, an unnamed student brings a pistol to school just to threaten their teacher, Ms. Bella, into giving a better grade.
  • In “Types of Students on the First Day of School Portrayed by Minecraft”, Ryan brings his father’s gun to school to “try out” on people he doesn’t like. An unnamed boy also brings a gun to school to shoot Jared for forgetting his name.
  • In “School Subjects Portrayed by Minecraft”, Dylan brings a gun to school because of the Second Amendment.
  • In “Types of Students Getting Exam Results Portrayed by Minecraft”, Nolan holds his teacher at gunpoint for getting a bad grade, and an unnamed “Quiet Kid” brings several guns to school and shoots his classmate to death for poking through his locker.
• Baby's First Words: In “Stages of Life Portrayed by Minecraft”, a baby says his first words, which are the video’s sponsor.
• Back from the Dead:
  • In “Types of People at Funerals Portrayed by Minecraft”, the “Resurrected”, named Luke, comes back to life and is told off by the priest for “ruining the funeral”. There’s also a woman who came back to life just because her brother was apathetic about her death.
  • In “Illumination Movies Portrayed by Minecraft #2”, Lucy dies after the “I choose Gru” scene, but then is alive in the next scene.
• Bad People Abuse Animals:
  • In “Types of Students on the First Day of School Portrayed by Minecraft”, Ryan mentions he “played surgeon simulator” with his cat but “could only play once”.
  • In “Types of Kids Portrayed by Minecraft # 2”, Wesley, a creepy young boy who wants to be a surgeon, cuts up a cat.
  • In “Boys vs. Girls Portrayed by Minecraft”, the autistic boy kills a dog and a parrot.
  • In “Types of Youtubers Portrayed by Minecraft”, one of the mean things the “Douchetuber” does is hit a sheep.
• Bad Santa:
  • In “Types of People on Christmas Portrayed by Minecraft”, Santa tells Brody that because he saw him, he (Brody) can “no longer exist”.
  • In “Types of Parents Portrayed by Minecraft”, Santa beats up Gary just for staying up late.
  • In “Holidays Portrayed by Minecraft # 2”, Santa tries to knife the protagonist.
• Baffled by Own Biology:
  • When Tom from “Types of Kids at the Dentist Portrayed by Minecraft” loses his first tooth, he doesn’t realise it’s normal because he’s seemingly abandoned or an orphan (he doesn’t know what parents are), so he asks the dentist to stick it back in his mouth. From the same video, Cody mistakes his cavities for dirt.
  • Katie from “Types of Kids Visiting the Doctor Portrayed by Minecraft” thinks she has COVID when it’s actually the flu.
• Bait-and-Switch: In “Social Media Portrayed by Minecraft”, during the section on Reddit, a button crops up saying that pressing it will reveal either a chest of diamonds or a dead horse. At first, it seems to be setting up a gag about seeing a gross horse carcass, but when he presses the button, he gets a chest. Thus, it seems like it will be the chest of diamonds, but then the atmosphere tenses up, hinting that the dead horse is in the chest… It is, but only has an innocuous-looking piece of horse leather.
• Bait-and-Switch Comment:
  • In “Types of Parents Portrayed by Minecraft”, Ben asks his father to borrow his gun. The dad says, “OK… HOL UP… I almost forgot the bullets!”.
  • The “Scaring Doctor” in “Types of Doctors Portrayed by Minecraft # 2” says, “Your medical results show your health is terrific. I meant terrifically fine. Fine at getting a stroke.” Then, he says, “You’re good. Good as dead.”
• Bathos: In “Types of Patients Portrayed by Minecraft”, Evan says that he is dying… but his dying request is to have his search history deleted.
• Bathroom Control:
  • Justified in “Types of People in the Airplane Portrayed by Minecraft”, where flight attendants don’t let an Obnoxious Entitled Housewife use the bathroom on the plane because there’s turbulence. She tries to use it anyway and gets dirty.
  • In “Types of Kids on the School Bus Portrayed by Minecraft”, a boy named Jalen has the runs and asks to be let off the bus so he can use the bathroom. The driver tells him to wait, so Jalen soils himself.
  • In “Types of People at Theme Parks Portrayed by Minecraft”, a boy named Ian asks his mother if he can go to the bathroom. She says no, so he wets his pants.
  • Mr. Colin, one of the teachers from “Boys vs. Girls at School Portrayed by Minecraft # 2”, always lets the girls use the bathroom when they ask, but has the boys wait.
  • In “Types of Students During Exams Portrayed by Minecraft”, Joel needs to use the bathroom during an exam, but his teacher, Ms. Cloe, doesn’t let him. He ends up soiling himself.
  • In “Types of Teachers Portrayed by Minecraft”, Dayum1999 asks Mr. Abrams if he can go to the bathroom, but Abrams says no, so Dayum 1999 wets his pants.
• Bathroom Search Excuse:
  • Finn from “Types of Bad Students Portrayed by Minecraft” pretends he has to use the bathroom as an excuse for skipping class.
  • Nick from “Brother vs. Sister Portrayed by Minecraft” lies that he needs to poop to get out of doing the dishes.
• Bathroom Stall of Angst: In “Introverts vs. Extroverts Portrayed by Minecraft”, Reid is too shy to admit he found a movie sad, so he hides in the bathroom to cry.
• Baths Are Fun: In “Introverts vs. Extroverts Portrayed by Minecraft”, the “introvert” likes to read in the bath.
• Beach Episode: One video is called “Types of People at the Beach Portrayed by Minecraft”, and has people like “The Tanner” and “The Wave Chaser”.
• Bears Are Bad News: In “Types of People at the Zoo Portrayed by Minecraft”, a bear kills a little boy for trying to hug it.
• Beneficial Disease: Discussed by gamergirl166 in “Types of Reactions to Vaccines Portrayed by Minecraft”, who used Google find that having COVID was “much better” than being vaccinated. However, when she catches it, she dies.
• Berserk Button: The “Google Hater” from “Types of Doctors Portrayed by Minecraft # 2” beats Eden up just because she uses Google to diagnose herself.
• Beware the Quiet Ones: Whenever a character is described as “quiet”, expect the punchline to be about them being violent, or outright evil.
• The B Grade:
  • In “Boys vs. Girls at School Portrayed by Minecraft”, one of the girls gets sad at getting 99/100.
  • In “Types of Students Getting Exam Results Portrayed by Minecraft”, Owen gets angry that he got 99.5/100, while Bella is frustrated at the 88 she got, blaming it on “silly mistakes” she made, and Lily goes on a long rant about how she shouldn’t have gotten 95.
• Big Brother Bully: One older brother in “Types of Siblings Portrayed by Minecraft # 2” beats his little brother for no reason, and one older sister keeps bossing her little brother Lewis around, even telling him to carry her to the toilet.
• Big Brother Instinct: In “Brother vs. Sister Portrayed by Minecraft”, when some girls in Emily’s class throw away her things, her older sister immediately reports them to the principal, and when Marcus gets punched by a bully, his older brother beats up the bully.
• Big Eater:
  • Larry, the “Foodie” from “Types of People at Funerals Portrayed by Minecraft”, orders pizza at a funeral.
  • Subverted with Bobby from “Types of People at Restaurants Portrayed by Minecraft”, who orders a great deal of food and claims he can eat it all, but then gets full before he can finish.
  • Bob from “Types of Kids at Sleepovers Portrayed by Minecraft” scarfs down a whole lot of food from the kitchen.
  • The “Dumb” from “Types of TikTokers Portrayed by Minecraft” is seen eating a whole lot of food, which is implied to be why she’s so fat.
• Big "NO!":
  • David from “Types of People During Summer Portrayed by Minecraft” yells, “NOOO!” when he realized he didn’t get ready to go back to school.
  • Niel from “Types of Students on the Last Day of School Portrayed by Minecraft” shouts, “NOO!” when his father tries to pick him up from school, since he loves school.
  • Shawn from “Types of Patients Portrayed by Minecraft # 2” yells, “NOOOO!!” when he realises that he didn’t really go to Heaven but was just dreaming.
  • Nash in “Types of Kids Late for School Portrayed by Minecraft” yells, “NOO!” when he realises he overslept.
  • In “Types of Students Portrayed by Minecraft”, Max yells, “NOOOO” when he realises the test is about the only subject he didn’t study for.
  • In “Types of Kids Portrayed by Minecraft # 2”, Andrew yells, “NOO!” when Mr. John threatens to call his mother.
• Big "SHUT UP!":
  • In “Types of People at Funerals Portrayed by Minecraft”, a priest yells at the “Loud Crier” to “SHUT UP! WHO CRIES LIKE THAT!?”.
  • In “Types of Roommates Portrayed by Minecraft # 2”, Hank yells, “SHUT UP!” at his roommate Robert for telling him to “chill out” after Hank yelled at Robert for walking in front of the TV.
  • In “Types of Kids Late for School Portrayed by Minecraft”, when Julius’s classmates boo the teacher Mr. Ron for sending Julius to detention, Mr. Ron yells, “SHUT UP OR Y’ALL ARE GOING TOO!”
  • In “Types of Teachers Portrayed by Minecraft # 2”, Mrs. Gaby yells, “DO NOT TALK DURING MY LESSON!”

• Big "WHAT?!":
  • Leah shouts, “WHAT?!” in “Brother vs. Sister Portrayed by Minecraft” when Maria reveals that she has a crush on Leah’s brother.
  • Mr. Dan from “School Subjects Portrayed by Minecraft” yells, “WHAT!?” when gravity doesn’t work on the tree or the apple.
  • Sonny says, “Excuse me, WHAT?!” when Melvin is glad that Ben got into an accident (because it means not having to go to a party).
• Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: In “Types of Siblings Portrayed by Minecraft # 2”, the “Two-Faced” is an older brother who tells his mother that he and his brother will be good boys, but when she’s out, beats the younger one up.
• Black Comedy: There are often jokes about people being killed for ludicrous reasons, dying in accidents, or being shot or set on fire.
• Black Comedy Animal Cruelty: In “Brother vs. Sister Portrayed by Minecraft # 2”, one of the brothers dangles a cat by a rope (the rope is around the cat’s belly, so it doesn’t kill it, but still).
• Black Comedy Pet Death:
  • In “Types of People During Summer Portrayed by Minecraft”, Mark barbecues a pig, belatedly realising it was the pet of a man named Aiden.
  • In “Types of Students on the First Day of School Portrayed by Minecraft”, Ryan mentions he “played surgeon simulator” with his cat but could only do it once.
  • In “Types of Kids Portrayed by Minecraft # 2”, Wesley cuts up his pet cat, saying he wants to be a surgeon when he grows up.
• Blatant Lies: Johnny from “Types of Kids at the Dentist Portrayed by Minecraft” lies that he brushes his teeth despite them being clearly dirty.
• Blind Mistake:
  • In “Types of People on the Train Portrayed by Minecraft”, a blind man bumps into Riley.
  • Discussed in “Types of Friends Portrayed by Minecraft”, where Finn insults his friend, who’s a bad archer, by saying, “Did you forget your glasses?”.
• Book Dumb:
  • Arlo from “Boys vs. Girls at School Portrayed by Minecraft # 2” is excited to be sick since it means he has to miss school, while Axel says he has no favourite subject since he hates school.
  • Zach from “Types of Students Presenting in Class Portrayed by Minecraft” tries to make his presentation about school being bad.
  • Dan from “Types of Students on the First Day of School Portrayed by Minecraft” is of the opinion that nobody likes school, and when Lucas is excited for school, Dan asks him, “What are you on?”.
  • “Boys vs. Girls at School Portrayed by Minecraft” portrays boys in general as being book dumb – Sonny and Brodie both openly admit to not having studied for the test, Marcus gets a D-, but is glad he technically passed, Ms. Sara tells Devin’s parents that he has bad grades and barely does his homework, Toby slacks off and uses his phone in class, Drew doesn’t bring in his homework, and Cody is hopeless at math.
  • In “Types of People During Fire Drills Portrayed by Minecraft”, the “Tik Toker” posts on Tik Tok, “No more school! Yay!”... as his school burns down. Later in the same video, Hank yells excitedly that there’ll be no more school when the fire alarm goes off and cries upon realising it was a drill.
  • In “Stages of Life Portrayed by Minecraft”, the elementary school aged boy runs out of school, then throws out his homework.
• Bookworm:
  • Timmy from “Types of People During Summer Portrayed by Minecraft” spends all his time reading and his roommate Luis berates him for not touching grass.
  • In “Introverts vs. Extroverts Portrayed by Minecraft”, the “introvert”’s favourite hobby is reading The Hobbit in the bath.
• Boomerang Bigot: Despite being a man himself, Mr. Colin from “Boys vs. Girls at School Portrayed by Minecraft # 2” is harder on his male students than his female ones, giving the boys less leeway and praise than the girls.
• Brainy Baby: The baby in “Stages of Life Portayed by Minecraft” starts speaking in sentences from the moment he can speak.
• Bratty Food Demand: In “Types of People on the Train Portrayed by Minecraft”, one little boy lies on the floor and angrily yells and whines for ice cream.
• Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick:
  • In “Types of Siblings Portrayed by Minecraft # 2”, the “Bossy” demands that her little brother give her a drink, give her food, and then carry her to the toilet.
  • In “Types of Parents Portrayed by Minecraft”, Ben asks his father to let him go to a party, borrow his credit card, and then borrow his gun.
  • In “Types of Youtubers Portrayed by Minecraft”, the “life hacks” are using an axe to cut a tree, double-clicking “W” to run, having many furnaces instead of one, and… killing Iron Golems (a non-villainous mob) to farm iron, but being careful not to die yourself.
• Bring My Brown Pants:
  • In “Types of People in the Airplane Portrayed by Minecraft”, a man wets his pants due to his fear of flying.
  • In “Types of Patients Portrayed by Minecraft”, Peter wets his pants due to his fear of getting his blood drawn.
  • One of the kids in “Types of Kids at the Dentist Portrayed by Minecraft” wets the dentist’s chair in fear.
  • One boy in “Types of Friends Portrayed by Minecraft # 2” pees his pants from being yelled at.
  • In “Types of People During Fire Drills Portrayed by Minecraft”, a fire alarm goes off and Ayden tries to act brave, but then soils himself.
  • In “Types of Students Getting Exam Results Portrayed by Minecraft”, Timmy wets his pants in fear.
• Brother–Sister Incest: In “United States Portrayed by Minecraft # 2”, a woman from Alabama dates her brother.
• Buffy Speak: Characters who are defined by not caring are often referred to as “The Don’t Care” rather than “The One Who Doesn’t Care” or “The Apathetic”.
• The Bully: “Types of People on the School Bus Portrayed by Minecraft” features a bully named Bryce, who steals snacks and demands to be allowed to drive.
• Bullying a Dragon:
