Inspired by Film Noir, it takes place on Ekrat, an alien island floating in space near Earth. The economy of Ekrat is largely dependent on human tourists from Earth; however, humans start disappearing one by one, and one of the remaining humans enlists the help of an alien private investigator, Cubert Badbone, to find them. Cubert's only lead is that all the missing humans visited the HumanCoaster amusement park attraction...

The game provides examples of:
- Amusement Park of Doom: The HumanCoaster. Humans that visit it are abducted for meat.
- Fantastic Fauna Counterpart: Ekrat is inhabited by dancing elephants. Or, to be more precise, was inhabited — since the Ekratians discovered how tasty their meat is, they basically went extinct.
- Foul Fast Food: The "Horniverous Devil" fast food restaurant chain, which harvests human meat.
- French Jerk: There's a pretty rude French midget guarding the HumanCoaster.
- Hardboiled Detective: Cubert Badbone himself.
- Intelligible Unintelligible: The bartender at "Baked Potato's Bar and Disco", a giant mutant potato, talks in gibberish like "rooshkala wooshkala fooshkala" — but Cubert has no problem understanding him.
- Laxative Prank: At one point, Cubert gives prune juice to a thirsty security guard to make him run to the bathroom.
- Red Herring: At "Baked Potato's Bar and Disco", the bartender is annoyed that there's a cat in the dance floor. One might expect that you have to do something to get the cat away, but there's nothing you can do, and it plays no role in the plot.
- The Secret of Long Pork Pies: The missing humans are actually being harvested for meat for the "Horniverous Devil" fast food restaurant chain.
- Shout-Out:
- In the docks you can meet a director who is making a movie called "Galbrush Threepwood Falls Off The Dock", with Galbrush described as "a wannabe flooring inspector".
- Also, at the bottom of the lake in the docks you find a skeleton similar to those from Grim Fandango and a bunch of sharp objects, similar to those that Guybrush sees underwater in The Secret of Monkey Island.
- You Must Be This Tall to Ride: Parodied. Cubert cannot ride the HumanCoaster because he isn't human — so he has to find a way to pass for one.
