Car Mechanic Simulator (Video Game)
Boxart for the 2018 installment.
Car Mechanic Simulator is a series of video games developed by Red Dot Games and published by PlayWay S. A.. The first game Car Mechanic Simulator 2014 was released in 2014 for Steam, iOS, and Android.

In the games, the player takes on the role of an auto mechanic. Rather than "levels", the game's career mode is broken up into "jobs". For each job, the player must order the necessary parts online, repair the vehicle, and then take it for a test drive. The money earned from every job is used to buy new tools, take new jobs, and grow the shop over time. Later games in the series also added a body shop for body repair and a paint job.

Games in the series:

  • Car Mechanic Simulator 2014: Steam, iOS, Android
  • Car Mechanic Simulator 2015: Steam, Android
  • Car Mechanic Simulator 2018: Steam, iOS, Android, Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch
  • Car Mechanic Simulator 2021: Steam, Playstation 4, Xbox

The series provides examples of:

  • Bland-Name Product: The brands in 2021 are clearly stand-ins for real automotive brands down to their badges, brand names, and even model names. This makes it a bit awkward when branded DLC gets involved and you have real vehicles sitting alongside their fake ones. Though some of the fake brands have models not represented in their DLC (i.e the Ford Panther platform is absent but has the Salem Overking as a stand-in)
  • Fauxrrari: Even though the cars are real-life car models, the actual brand and model of the car are never seen nor mentioned.
  • Instant Home Delivery: Items purchased online are instantly added to your inventory, although there's otherwise no time pressure to be concerned about.
  • Left Out a Piece: Defied by the series. The games will not let the player mount a part to something if a part is missing underneath. Only when the missing part is installed can the player mount the part that covers it.
  • Resurrect the Wreck: The cars you find in barns and junkyards are really not in good condition. They're usually missing parts and the ones that are on the car frequently need replacing or repairing. Plus, the bodies are usually choked with rust. But there's good news too: you get to restore them.
  • Shout-Out:
    • There's a car based on the late 70s Trans-Am in 2018 and 2021 called the Bandit.
    • 2021 has a car based on the mid-80s Toyota Sprinter Trueno called the Takumi.
  • Video Game Caring Potential: There's nothing stopping you from going the extra mile, pun-not-intended, by fixing up extra parts and doing tasks that didn't need to be done on any particular job.
  • Video Game Cruelty Potential: Want to give a car an absolutely outlandish color scheme in the paint shop? Go ahead!
  • Work Info Title: You're a car mechanic.
