- Acting for Two: Kiane King voices both Kiane and Inner Kiane, and Brendan Blaber voices Sensei, Sav, and Sensei’s family.
- The Danza: Many of the main characters share names (or nicknames) with their actors. Kiane and Inner Kiane are voiced by Kiane Chula King, Chris Killstrap is voiced by Christopher Gilstrap, Warped Lamp is voiced by Warped Lamp, Siv Illian is voiced by Oz (formerly Siv) Ryan, Brain is voiced by Plasterbrain, Mr. Tomathan Arimnaes is voiced by Tom “Arim” Laflin, and William-sama is voiced by William T. Sopp.
- Descended Creator: Plasterbrain, the primary creator and writer of the game, also voices Brain. Brendan Blaber, the artist who drew the character portraits and backgrounds, voices Sensei, Sensei’s family, and Sav.
- Development Gag: Because the game’s development took such a long time, Jello redrew many of the earlier character sprites to improve their quality. During one of the flashbacks in the True Route, young Mr. Arimnaes’s sprite is briefly replaced with one of the unused old sprites.
- Development Hell: Development of the game began back in 2009 (hence the game’s 2009 setting), but work was halted due to Plasterbrain losing interest and Jello being busy with Epithet Erased. The game was finally released in 2019.
- Inspiration for the Work: As stated on Jello’s Patreon, the game was inspired by purposefully bad fanfics, such as Quarter-Life: Halfway To Destruction and Half-Life: Full Life Consequences. Most of the characters were inspired by and named after real people in the creators’ friend group.
- Queer Character, Queer Actor: When the real Warped Lamp came out as a trans woman, the character she voiced was changed accordingly. (Lamp currently uses any pronouns.)
- Throw It In: According to Brendan Blaber during one of his Pizza Game streams, the Flower Sensei song was improvised by him and included in the dialogue clips as a joke, and he didn’t expect Plasterbrain to actually put it in the game.
- Word of Gay: In a Tumblr ask
, Plasterbrain states that Sav and Brain are both asexual.
- Word of God: According to the Patreon page of lead artist Brendan Blaber:
- Plasterbrain added Mr. Arimnaes because she loves Obviously Evil murderer love interests in otome games, such as the doctor in Hatoful Boyfriend.
- The game is called Pizza Game because Arim, the real-life namesake of Mr. Arimnaes, loves pizza.
- Sensei wears oven mitts and an apron because Brendan Blaber did not want to draw his hands or body.
- Roobit was added later in development, which explains why she isn’t included in the title screen art and why her color (reddish purple) is less distinct from those of the other characters.
- Keenarnor’s route was the last to be written, hence why it contains so many other characters and puts relatively little focus on Keen himself.
