Interview with the Vampire (2022) (Series)

"Fifty years later, you talk like he was your soul mate, like you were locked in some fucked up gothic romance."
Daniel Molloy

Interview with the Vampire is a Gothic Horror-Queer Romance television series which premiered on October 2, 2022 on AMC. It is an adaptation of The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. The show is part of what AMC is promoting as the Immortal Universe.

In the summer of 2022, dying journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian) is summoned to a penthouse apartment in Dubai, where he is reunited with Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson), an immortal vampire that he tried to interview 49 years earlier, with limited success. Now Louis is offering him another interview, recounting the full story of how he was seduced and turned by the French vampire Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid), and of their complicated romantic relationship.

The show deviates from the books in many ways. It takes the book's present-but-deemphasized love story between Louis and Lestat and centers in on this as the story's core, a "fucked up gothic romance." It shifts much of the timeline and Race Lifts several main characters. Yet despite all these changes, it has been mostly well-received by fans of the books for nonetheless staying true to the themes and spirit of the books.

Season 1 aired in 2022 and covers the first half of the novel Interview with the Vampire. Season 2 covers the second half of the novel and — after being delayed by the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike — aired in 2024. Season 3 has been greenlit (here's the trailer) and will be an adaptation of the second novel, The Vampire Lestat.
