Anime and Manga
- Gantz: The manga was titled after Mr. Gantz, Robocon's teacher.
- One Piece: Pythagoras/Punk 04's design is based on Robocon. He also shares his ditzy and excitable personality.
- Toei Fushigi Comedy Series:
- The protagonist of Robot 8-chan (1981), 8-chan, is quite similar to Robocon in terms of appearance (having a round, egg-shaped body and wide black eyes) and was also created with the intention to help the human race.
- The protagonist of Morimori Bokkun, Bokkun, is also based on Robocon, as can be discerned from his design and character arc (a cute machine with a heart of gold who wants to prove that he can benefit humanity). Both this series and the above example were also created by Shotaro Ishinomori.
- In Tomei Dori-chan (1978), the protagonist is named Midori "Dori" Aoyama, after the Ganbare!! Robocon character Midori "Dori" Oyama.
- Sunny from Robopon is an expy of Robocon, being a small robot with a red, egg-shaped body who's best friend is a human boy.
- The Powerpuff Girls (1998): The episode "Ploys R Us" features toys of many children's show characters. Among them is an action figure of Robocon, which Bubbles hugs alongside a figure of Dexter.
