Basic Trope: A character, especially a villain, is last seen being arrested by the police.
- Straight: After Alice and Bob foil Ed Evulz's plan, Evulz and his henchmen are last seen being led away in handcuffs.
- Exaggerated:
- The entire police force and military arrive to take Evulz away.
- All of the villains in the show get arrested and are never seen again.
- Downplayed: Evulz is arrested and never gets out, but continues to have an impact on the plot while he's in prison.
- Justified:
- The police witnessed Evulz committing a crime, so they can arrest him without a warrant.
- Evulz's crimes are severe enough to get him inprisoned, but he didn't go quite far enough to get the death penalty (assuming his country has one).
- Inverted:
- The story begins with Evulz being arrested, and the whole story takes place in prison.
- The whole story takes place in prison, and ends with Evulz breaking out.
- Subverted:
- The police start to take Evulz away, but he uses a Smoke Out and pulls a Villain: Exit, Stage Left.
- A multi-episode variation. Evulz is supposedly last seen taken away by the police. Then, in a later installment it is mentioned (or even shown) that while Evulz's case did go to trial, he was able to successfully leverage his wealth and influence to ultimately beat the rap, thus managing to escape any real consequences of his actions.
- Evulz eventually gets released from prison after a Time Skip.
- Double Subverted:
- ...but it turns out that Evulz didn't actually get away in time, so the police grab him again and successfully arrest him.
- ...but he goes back to committing evil deeds upon being released, so Evulz ends up in jail again with stricter security to make sure he doesn't escape again.
- ...It's a pretty short lived release before Evulz commits crimes again, and the police almost instantly drag him back to prison.
- Parodied:
- Bob calls the police saying he has a bad guy who needs to be arrested.
- The entire cast and crew is arrested after the alleged murder of some historian.
- Zig-Zagged: Evulz puts up one heck of a struggle. He keeps getting caught by the police only to get away several times.
- Averted:
- Evulz dies instead of being arrested.
- Evulz does not face any retribution for his crimes.
- Lampshaded: "Curses! You've ruined my plans! I guess I'm going to jail now."
- Invoked:
- Evulz is last seen getting trapped in something that looks like a jail cell.
- A witness calls the police on Evulz.
- Evulz has been under investigation for a while, and the police now have enough evidence to snag him, so they proceed hunt him down.
- Exploited:
- Evulz allows himself to be arrested to keep an Anti-Hero from killing him.
- Evulz knows he'll be sent to a Cardboard Prison and will use that time away to plan his next scheme and eventual escape.
- Defied:
- Evulz kills the police.
- Evulz kills himself when he sees the police coming.
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: ???
- Played for Laughs: Evulz casually admits that he had this coming and goes along with it.
- Played for Drama: Evulz repeatedly insists that he's not an evil person and doesn't deserve to be arrested.
- Played for Horror: As the police are taking Evulz away, Evulz gives Alice and Bob a chilling Death Glare that tells them, without a word, that he will come back and do whatever it takes to end their lives.
- Implied: Alice and Bob defeat Evulz. Cut to a police car pulling away.
