Death Note is a Japanese media franchise based on a manga series, with numerous adaptations and spin-offs. It revolves around a magical notebook with the power to kill anyone whose name is written in its pages.


Works in the franchise include:

Anime & Manga

  • Death Note Pilot (2003): An early (and very different) one-shot prototype manga that inspired the rest of the series.
  • Death Note (2003-2006 [manga], 2006-2007 [anime]): The manga/anime series, and the best-known versions of the story.
  • Death Note Special Chapter (2020): One-shot sequel manga taking place 10 years after the events of the story.

  • Jump Super Stars (2005): Light, Ryuk, and L appear as support characters in this Shonen Jump Crossover Fighting Game.

    • Jump Force (2019): Another fighting game that includes Light and Ryuk as non-player characters.

  • Death Note: VR Escape Game (2015): A virtual reality game where you play as Misa working with Rem to escape a flooding basement.

  • Death Note: Killer Within (2024): An online Social Deduction Game about life and death for up to 10 players. The game consists of players being divided into two teams, who will try to discover the identity of the others to eliminate L, who threatens Kira's power, or get hold of the Death Note.
