Old description:
Quantitative analysis work done in the WMF Reading department on general readership metrics (e.g. pageviews, app installs) and on researching usage of specific reader features.
This work mainly serves to support the ongoing work of the Reading department, but @Tbayer (as the department's primary data analyst) is happy help out other parts of the movement as time allows. Either way, if you'd like to request readership-related data, analysis, or advice, please use the procedure below. Keep in mind @Tbayer is just one fairly busy person and therefore may have to decline your request.
How to request analysis
- Create a Phabricator task for your request using this link, which automatically tags it Reading-analysis and adds the headings for step 2.
- Give some information in the description:
- What's requested. If you know what data you want, be specific! If you have a question but don't know how it can be answered, say what you've already tried.
- Why it's requested You don't have to write an essay, but give enough context that the analyst can interpret, adapt, and prioritize your request.
- When it's requested. If you have a hard deadline, say what it is and what it's tied to.
- Any other helpful information, like relevant documentation.
- Sit back, wait, and try to think about something other than that tantalizing data. @Tbayer will aim to at least explain whether he can fulfill a request within 2 workdays. If that period has passed, feel free to ping him in a comment on the task or by email (tbayer at wikimedia dot org).
