@BhalleRam Hi! I'd like to confirm if you submitted an application on the GSoC website? If yes, could you please share the display name you used there? Thanks!

I'm boldly removing the tag to avoid any confusion among applicants. :)

@Gechy Thanks for your proposal! It looks good to me, make sure to submit it on time. :)

@JukanaCodes Thanks for the proposal! I like that you've included blog posts in your timeline. :) Overall, I think the timeline can be slightly more detialed, but it'll work as is too. Some suggestions:

I agree with all of Srishti's points!

@JukanaCodes Hi, continuing our discussion on Zulip about how to approcah this task.

Done!

@Udoka_Ugo Hi! You can claim the task by: Add Action -> Assign/Claim. See: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/How_to_become_a_MediaWiki_hacker#Communicate_that_you_work_on_a_task
@Aklapper Thanks!
@Aklapper Just wanted to confirm, do we need to remove the mention of XCache from those 7 pages altogether? Or can we add a note about deprication like in https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Manual%3A%24wgMessageCacheType&type=revision&diff=3975320&oldid=3751023 to the ~3 pages that don't have the note?
@Hanan8822 I agree with Andre that some previous experience with MediaWiki might be required for this task. I see you've also expressed interest in some other "good first tasks", I suggest selecting one of those to start with. :)
It looks good to me too. :)

@Aklapper Thank you for working on it!
Oct 7 2020
Anyone having some more context what this means, please? :)
@Aklapper The technical-support stream on Zulip is linked to wikimedia-tech IRC channel. Messages posted on one platform are bridged to the other. This is to allow outreach program participants to reach the broader community for technical questions. :)

@RexxS I've created a topic for this project on Wikimedia's Zulip here: https://wikimedia.zulipchat.com/#narrow/stream/outreachy21/topic/Lua.20documentation
@srishakatux @RexxS Thank you! I've signed-up on the Outreachy website. Looking forward to a wonderful Outreachy! ^>^

@zeljkofilipin Thank you for doing this!!! ^>^
@RexxS Hi! I am a past Season of Docs participant with Wikimedia. I can help out in a secondary role with this project, but might not be able to make a full commitment. If that's ok, I'd be happy to co-mentor this project. :)

@srishakatux was in talks with the team, and it looks like swags might not be do-able this year because of budget concerns. Thank you so much for reaching out to them Srishti! :')
We sent the following email to all mentors last week:

Showcase done!
We heard back, we will be cross-posting on Diff! I've created an account and submitted a draft, shall share an update when the post gets published. :)
@srishakatux Yes, that sounds like a good idea! The deadline to submit a lightning talk is 22nd September. I think we can send the email to all the mentors this week itself, so that they have some time to think this over. Shall try sharing a draft in a day or so!

@srishakatux Thank you! I've awarded the tokens too!
@srodlund Yay! Thank you! Also, OTTERS!!! ^>^

@srodlund Thank you! Sounds good to me :)
Planning this on 16th September 9:30 AM PDT, sent out calendar invites. :)

GSoC 2020 and Outreachy Round 20 are officially complete! This task will never truly be complete, but I think we can resolve it for now :)

@srishakatux Key items left are updating the Phab templates for student application and mentor project creation. I wanted to ask if we can edit the form directly (I don't think I have permission to) or do we need to make new forms using https://phabulous.toolforge.org/...

@Chtnnh Thanks for staying on top of this! +1 for creating something similar to Mozilla's codetribute page for Wikimedia :) I see helpful discussion on the issue you filed, so adding a link here for reference: https://github.com/mozilla-frontend-infra/codetribute/issues/400

@srishakatux Oops, I missed this one. :( I can get these done by this weekend, will that be too late? If not, I'll share an update by Friday/Monday. If it is, you can surely take it ^_^

For the candidates who created a Phabricator proposal, we posted a message on their proposal and marked it as declined. We had a large number of GSoC applicants who didn't create Phab proposals, so we sent them a combined email. Phab proposals weren't mandatory for some Outreachy projects, so we sent the rejected candidates individual emails.
@Sanyam.wikime I've sent it over on Zulip. :)
@Gaura87 Thank you for your application! I believe your mentor has provided feedback on your proposal, so I'll keep my notes brief and general.
May 19 2020
@Prondubuisi Thanks for your application and all your contributions! I see that you've followed all the steps and also received feedback from your mentors, which is good. :)
@Kbhardwaj13 I went through your proposal, and wow, I love how complete it is! All the design elements look really good and thank you for all your contributions! :)
May 18 2020
@shivanigangadharan Thank you for your application and for all your amazing contributions! I see that you have included all the required sections in your proposal, which is good. :)
@Ayushshri121 You've created a good application and thank you for your contributions! I see that you have also received feedback from your mentors, which is nice. :)
@318anushka You have created a very thorough proposal! The GSoC student accepted for this project (see proposal) has been contributing to this project for a long time, which gave them a clear advantage. I believe they also applied last year and did not get accepted, but continued contributing.
@Manasa_Kashyap Your project details and timeline look good to me. I also see that you've made some great contributions to the project, thank you for that! The GSoC student accepted for this project (see proposal) has been contributing to WikiEdu Dashboard for over a year and has ~45 merged PRs, which made their proposal super strong.

@QEDK Sure! Go ahead. :)
