Abstract

The invention relates to a method for treating a process material, said process material being contacted with, preferably non-thermal, large area plasma at, preferably, at least atmospheric pressure, the plasma being produced in close proximity to the process material, or a gas discharge - in particular a corona discharge - being produced within the process material or in the immediate vicinity thereof at, preferably, at least atmospheric pressure. In order to improve the treatment of the process material with plasma and to increase the effectiveness thereof, high-voltage pulses (66, 67) with a duration (62) of less than 10 ?s are generated between electrodes (43, 44) for the production of the plasma or the gas discharge.
