Abstract

Application of the STAD Learning Model in Biology Learning to Increase Interest, Activeness and Learning Outcomes of Ciomas 1 Public High School Students in Biology Subjects. This research was conducted to see students' ability to understand biology lessons and to determine their level of interest, activity and learning outcomes using the method used, namely STAD (Student Team Achivement Division). The research subjects in this case were 40 students consisting of 21 men and 19 women. In this research, of course, the results were in accordance with what the researchers expected, namely that in the pre-cycle students tended to be passive or silent, the learning process was carried out conventionally and did not use the STAD method, in cycle 1 students began to show activeness in learning, and the post test results were 78.63, then in cycle II the results increased by 89.12, in cycle II students were much more active, responsive so that the results of the interest questionnaire also increased, from initially 57.5 in cycle I to 80.62 in cycle II.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of using the "Snakes and Ladders" game as an instructional medium on improving students’ learning outcomes in the Ecology material among seventh- grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Balaraja. The research was motivated by the low academic achievement of students, which was attributed to the use of less engaging teaching media and monotonous instructional methods. A Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model was employed, implemented over three cycles, involving a total of 40 students as research subjects. Data were collected through observation and testing methods, including pre-tests and post-tests. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes, with average scores increasing from 47% in the first cycle to 64% in the second cycle, and reaching 83% in the third cycle. The mastery level also improved substantially, from 10% to 95%. Statistical analysis using the paired sample t-test yielded a significance value of p < 0.05, indicating a statistically significant impact of the "Snakes and Ladders" game-based media on students’ academic performance. Therefore, the use of this interactive game medium is proven to be effective in enhancing students’ learning outcomes and promoting active participation in Ecology lessons. Abstract

The group discussion method is a learning approach involving verbal interaction among students to achieve common goals, such as understanding concepts, solving problems, or making decisions. This study aims to analyze the effect of the group discussion method on students’ learning outcomes in the topic of classification of living things. The research employed a quantitative approach with a Pretest-Posttest control group design, involving 50 students from MTs Nurul Huda Malangnengah, Tangerang. The research instruments were tested through validity and reliability tests, while prerequisite tests included normality and homogeneity tests. Hypothesis testing was conducted using the t-test. The results showed that the group discussion method had a significant effect on improving learning outcomes, as evidenced by a t-test significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The average Pretest score of 53 increased to 77.2 in the Posttest after the treatment was given. These findings indicate that the group discussion method not only effectively enhances conceptual understanding but also fosters active student engagement, contributing to more effective learning. This study strengthens the empirical evidence that collaborative interaction in science learning can improve students’ learning outcomes compared to conventional methods. Abstract

This research aims to examine the effectiveness of utilizing the school environment as an IPA (Science) laboratory to enhance Science learning activities, specifically on biodiversity material, by comparing an experimental class and a control class involving seventh-grade students at SMP Penerus Bangsa, Tangerang City. The background of the problem indicates that conventional learning of biodiversity often triggers less active student engagement and a superficial understanding. Therefore, an approach that leverages existing natural resources around the school is considered to have the potential to overcome this problem. The research method used is a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design involving two groups: an experimental group that learned using the school environment as an IPA laboratory and a control group that used conventional methods in the classroom. The learning sample was conducted through direct investigation, observation, identification, and classification of organisms in various school habitats (e.g., gardens, yards, and grassy areas). Data collection on learning activities was carried out through observation sheets and response questionnaires

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ critical thinking skills in biology learning on the topic of the human reproductive system at SMA Putra Bangsa, Tangerang Regency. A descriptive quantitative method was employed, with data collected using a validated and reliable Likert-scale questionnaire (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.936). The sample consisted of 43 students from class XI MIPA. The results showed that students’ critical thinking skills were in the moderate category, with 13.3% scoring between 50%–60%. Hypothesis testing revealed no significant relationship between critical thinking skills and learning outcomes (p = 0.609 > 0.05). These findings suggest that enhancing critical thinking skills requires the application of active learning models such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL) or SIMAS ERIC, along with interactive learning media and teacher training
