Abstract

The aim of this study was to identify and determine the heavy metal content of lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) towards eyebrow pencil registered and not registered by the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM). This research was conducted in several markets in Surabaya. Twelve eyebrow pencil items were investigated for lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd). Simple reagents, included HCl, NaOH, KI, Na2S2O3 and NH4OH were used to identify the presence of these heavy metal first. The study results showed that samples of eyebrow pencil registered and unregistered by BPOM RI after being tested turned out to contain lead and cadmium in a range of 1.092-5,834 mg/kg and 0,054-0.243 mg/kg, respectively. The content is still within what is required based on the regulations of BPOM RI, < 20 mg/kg for lead content and < 5 mg/kg for cadmium content. In short, all the sample of eyebrow pencil contained lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) within what is required based on the regulations of BPOM RI.

Abstract

ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Linked Immunosorbent Assay) is one of the quantitative analysis methods that is often used to determine the levels of active compounds in biological samples. In this study, we will verify the method of determining testosterone active compounds in blood and urine samples of female patients who have PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) using the Human Testosterone ELISA Kit. Before conducting testosterone levels using ELISA, it is necessary to verify the linearity of the standard curve first to determine the effect of testosterone standard levels on the analyte response in the form of optical density. The linearity verification of the standard testosterone curve is calculated using linear regression calculations with the results of the coefficient of determination which is 0.978 with a value of α = 0.05. While for testing with the calculation of 4 parameter logistic (4PL), the results of the coefficient of determination are 0.999. Based on these results it can be concluded that the testosterone standard level has a significant influence on the response of optical density analytes.

Abstract

ABSTRAKTeh diklasifikasikan menjadi 3 jenis yaitu teh hitam, teh hijau dan teh putih. Teh mengandung senyawa kafein yang dapat bermanfaat dan merugikan bagi tubuh. Senyawa kafein dalam teh dapat dipisahkan dengan metode ekstraksi cair-cair menggunakan kloroform dan penambahan CaCO3. Penentuan kadar kafein menggunakan metode spektrofotometri UV diukur pada panjang gelombang 275 nm. Kadar kafein dipengaruhi oleh suhu dan waktu penyeduhan. Semakin tinggi suhu dan lama waktu penyeduhan, kadar kafein dalam teh semakin meningkat. Kadar kafein dari berbagai jenis teh dari kadar yang tinggi ke rendah berturut-turut yaitu serbuk teh hitam, teh putih dan teh hijau dengan suhu penyeduhan 95áµ’C selama 10 menit.Kata Kunci: Teh hitam, teh hijau, teh putih, kafein, spektrofotometri UVABSTRACTTea is classified into three type, which are black tea, green tea and white tea. Tea contains caffeine compound that can be beneficial and harmful for the body. Caffeine compound in tea can be separated by liquid extraction method using chloroform and addition of CaCO3. The determination of the caffeine content measured by UV spectrophotometry at 275 nm. Caffeine level is influenced by temperature and brewing time. The highertemperature and the longer brewing time, the level of caffeine in tea increase. The caffeine content of various types of tea from high to low level respectively are black tea powder, white tea and green tea with temperature of 95áµ’C and 10 minutes brewing time.Keywords: Black tea, green tea, white tea, caffeine, UV spectrophotometry

Abstract

ABSTRAKPembalut menjadi kebutuhan wanita yang sangat penting karena digunakan untuk menyerap cairan darah ketika mengalami menstruasi. Pada pembuatan pembalut wanita dimungkinkan adanya pemakaian formaldehida. Oleh karena itu, pembalut wanita termasuk salah satu alat kesehatan yang kandungan dan bahan penyusunnya diatur oleh pemerintah. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode spektrofotometri visibel untuk penentuan kadar formaldehida dalam pembalut wanita sekali pakai. Sebelum digunakan, maka metode spektrofotometri visibel ini harus divalidasi terlebih dahulu untuk memastikan bahwa metode spektrofotometri yang digunakan dapat memberikan hasil yang akurat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah melakukan validasi metode spektrofotometri visibel untuk penetapan kadar formaldehida dalam pembalut wanita sekali pakai menggunakan pereaksi nash sebagai reagen spesifik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pembuatan dan pembakuan larutan baku formaldehida, menentukan panjang gelombang maksimal, pembuatan kurva kalibrasi, melakukan uji linieritas, uji LOD dan LOQ, serta uji kesesuaian dan kecermatan, dan menentukan kadar formaldehida pada pembalut wanita. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa metode spektrofotometri visibel memiliki selektifitas, linieritas,batas deteksi dan kuantitasi, presisi dan akurasi yang baik. Kadar rata-rata formaldehida pada ke lima sampel pembalut sebesar 2,88 mg/kg - 4,05 mg/kg.Kata kunci: pembalut, formaldehida, validasi, spektrofotometri visibelABSTRACTSanitary napkins are a very important woman’s need to absorb blood fluids when menstruating. In the manufacture of sanitary napkins may contain formaldehyde additives. Therefore, sanitary napkins are one of the medical devices whose composition is regulated by the government. In this study to identify the use of formaldehyde in sanitary napkins was carried out by visible spectrophotometry using nash reagent. This method should be validated in advance to ensure that the method used can provide accurate data. The aim of this research is to validate visible spectrophotometry method for determination of formaldehyde content indisposable sanitary napkins using nash reagent as specific reagent. Validation of UV – Vis spectrophotometry method for determination of formaldehyde showed that Nash reagent was suitable to determine formaldehyde. This method is linear with correlation coefficient (r2) of 0,99967. The validation characteristics include accuracy and precision, linearity, limit of detection, and limit of quantitation. The acceptance validation criteria were found in all case. Qualitative determination in five sanitary napkins samples showed positive results and the quantitative analysis confirmed that the average content of formaldehyde in five sanitary napkins samples was 2,88 mg/kg – 4,05 mg/kg.Keywords: sanitary napkins, formaldehyde, validation, visible spectrophotometry

Abstract

ABSTRAKKemuning (Murraya paniculata L. Jack) adalah salah satu kekayaan alam yang memiliki banyak manfaat bagi kehidupan manusia. Tanin merupakan salah satu metabolit sekunder dari kemuning yang dapat digunakan sebagai anti diare dan pelangsing. Ekstrak kemuning didapatkan dari maserasi menggunakan tiga pelarut berbeda, yaitu metanol, etanol dan etil asetat. Tannin kemudian dipisahan dari ekstrak dengan menggunakan kromatografi lapis tipis (KLT) dengan berbagai jenis pelarut. Hasil nalisis menunjukkan bahwa pelarut terbaik untuk mengekstraksi tanin adalah metanol dengan perolehan 23,6989 g (31,59%). Skrining fitokimia yang dilakukan menggunakan dua reagen yang berbeda menunjukkan hasil yang positif mengandung tanin. Eluenterbaik untuk analisa tanin pada penelitian ini adalah dengan n-heksan-etil asetat (6 : 4) dengan nilai Rf sebesar 0,62.Kata Kunci : kemuning (Murraya paniculata L. Jack), tannin, kromatografi lapis tipis (KLT)ABSTRACTOrange Jessamine (Murraya paniculata L. Jack) is one of the natural treasures which has many benefits for human life. Tannin is one of secondary metabolite of orange jessamine that can be used as antidiarrhoeal and body slimming. It was obtained by maceration using 3 different solvents, such as : methanol, ethanol, and ethyl acetate. Tannins was separated from crude extract using thin layer chromatography (TLC) in different type of eluent. The analysis showed that the best solvent to extract tannin is methanol that produce of 23.6989 g (31.59%). The phytochemical screening test of the two reagents shows positif result contain tannin compound. The best eluent in this study aimed is n-hexane: ethyl acetate (6 : 4) with tannin Rf value of 0.62.Keywords: Orange jessamine (Murraya paniculata L. Abstract

ABSTRAKLipstik merupakan salah satu kosmetik yang paling banyak dan hampir setiap hari digunakan oleh wanita. Timbal adalah salah satu cemaran logam berat yang terdapat dalam lipstik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untukmengetahui kandungan logam berat timbal dalam lipstik yang teregistrasi dan tidak teregistrasi mengguanakan Spektrofotometer Serapan Atom (SSA). Preparasi sampel menggunakan destruksi basah dengan aqua regia. Sampel lipstik yang digunakan sebanyak 24 sampel lipstik yang diambil di wilayah Kota Surabaya, dimana 12 sampel memiliki nomor registrasi BPOM dan 12 sampel tidak memiliki nomor registrasi BPOM. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya kandungan logam berat yang melebihi persyaratan BPOM pada semua sampel lipstikdengan rata-rata kadar 108.9517 ppm untuk lipstik yang teregistrasi dan 102.7183 ppm untuk lipstik yang tidak teregistrasi. Berdasarkan uji Mann-Whitney U diketahui bahwa tidak ada beda antara kadar Pb pada lipstik yang teregistrasi dengan lipstik yang tidak teregistrasi dengan nilai α= 0,05.Kata kunci: Timbal (Pb), Lipstik, Surabaya, Registrasi, Spektrofotometri Serapan Atom. ABSTRACTLipstick is one of the most widely used cosmetics every day by women. Lead is one of the heavy metal contaminants found in lipstick. This study aims to determine the heavy metal content of lead in registered lipstickand not registered using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). Sample preparation using wet destruction with aqua regia. Lipstick samples were used as many as 24 lipstick samples taken in the Surabaya area, where 12 samples had BPOM registration numbers and 12 samples did not have BPOM registration numbers. The results showed that there was a heavy metal content that exceeded BPOM requirements for all lipstick samples with an average level of 108.9517 ppm for registered lipstick and 102.7183 ppm for unregistered lipstick. Basedon the Mann-Whitney U test it is known that there is no difference between Pb levels on lipstick registered with lipstick which was not registered with a value of α = 0.05.Keywords: Lead (Pb), Lipstick, Surabaya, Registration, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry..
