Abstract

The development of halal tourism encounters the challenge of harmonizing Islamic values with local cultural traditions, ensuring that the authenticity of both is preserved and respected. This phenomenon is seen in South Lampung, where there is an urgent need to develop a halal tourism model that is harmonious with the local Malay culture. This study aims to analyze the process of integration of Islamic values and Malay culture in the development of halal tourism, identify the characteristics of culture-based halal tourism destinations, and formulate strategies to optimize the development of halal tourism in South Lampung. Through an ethnographic approach with in-depth observation, interviews and documentation analysis in three main destinations: Muara Indah Beach, Pasir Putih Beach, and Dermaga Bom Culinary Tourism. The results revealed a unique integration model based on the philosophy of “Piil Pesenggiri” which was successfully harmonized with sharia principles in the development of tourist destinations. This model is manifested in the implementation of “Islamic hospitality” that blends with the value of “Nemui Nyimah”, adaptation of traditional performing arts according to sharia standards, and preservation of local culinary through halal certification. These findings challenge the conventional paradigm that positions the modernization of halal tourism and the preservation of traditional culture as a dichotomy.

Abstract

The transformation of Al-Quran learning methods from Ummi to Uthmani in Al-Quran education institutions is an interesting phenomenon to study, given the complexity of the change process involving various learning components. This study aims to explore the dynamics of the change in Quranic learning methods and analyze its impact on various aspects of learning at the Khairunnas Qur'anic Education Park in Bandar Lampung. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, this research involved in-depth interviews with teachers, managers, and student guardians, participatory observation of the learning process, and documentation analysis during the transition period. The results show that the learning method transformation process involves three main stages: preparation through intensive training, gradual implementation with a mentoring system, and continuous evaluation. Significant challenges faced include resistance to change, the need to adjust teachers' competencies, and the reorganization of the learning system. The impact of the transformation is seen in changes in the pattern of teacher-student interaction that is more interactive, modification of learning media that is more comprehensive, and development of a more holistic evaluation system. This research contributes to the development of a transformation model of Al-Quran learning methods that can be a reference for similar institutions. The research findings highlight the importance of a systematic approach in managing changes in learning methods, as well as emphasizing the need for continuous professional development in the context of Qur'anic education.

Abstract

Abstract: The post-truth era has significantly impacted the understanding and practice of Islam, making it increasingly difficult to distinguish authentic religious knowledge from misinformation. Wasathiyah, as a principle of Islamic moderation, offers a balanced epistemological framework by integrating revelation (naql) and reason (aql), promoting contextual interpretation, and fostering critical engagement. This study examines the role of Wasathiyah epistemology in shaping moderate Islamic knowledge, enhancing digital literacy, and strengthening critical thinking in the post-truth era. Using a qualitative methodology with a content analysis approach, this research explores academic sources, including books, scientific journals, and prior studies. The findings highlight three key contributions: (1) Enhancing digital literacy among Muslims to counter misinformation, (2) Strengthening critical thinking and interfaith dialogue through a balanced understanding of Islam, and (3) Bridging textual and contextual analysis to preserve religious authenticity while adapting to contemporary challenges. However, this study is limited by its reliance on secondary sources. Further empirical research is needed to assess the practical application of Wasathiyah principles. Conceptually, this study contributes to the discourse on moderate Islam and contemporary epistemology.

This research uses a qualitative approach by relying on literature studies. The collected literature data were analyzed descriptively. The research found that in the Qur'an, there are verses that explain the concept and procedures of ethics/morals in everyday life. For example, Q.S. At-Taubah [9]: 119, which teaches to behave honestly. Q.S. Al-Baqarah [2]: 195) and Q.S. Al-A'raf [7]: 199 which teaches to be kind and compassionate. Q.S. Al-Baqarah [2]: 153 teaches to be patient. Q.S. Al-Ma'un [107]: 1-7 teaches to care about the environment. When referring to Q.S. Luqman [31]: 12-19, moral formation can be done early in the form of education from parents for their children. Among them are providing children's needs according to their portions, learning quietly and playing so that children grow, providing a conducive and positive environment, and integrated and istiqamah learning.

Abstract

The writing on liberation theology, which originally developed in the Latin American Christian tradition, has found its resonance in contemporary Islamic thought. K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid is one of the Indonesian Muslim figures who made significant contributions to the development of this discourse. This research aims to analyze the manifestation of liberation theology in Gus Dur's thought as well as identify its distinctive characteristics through the study of the book “Islamku, Islam Anda, Islam Kita” with a qualitative approach and content analysis method. The main findings of the study reveal three distinctive characteristics of Gus Dur's liberation theology: an innovative synthesis of traditional fiqh with modern social justice principles, particularly in his advocacy of minority rights; the reinterpretation of religious texts to challenge authoritarian interpretations, reflected in his defense of religious freedom and democratic values; and the development of an Indonesian model of Islamic pluralism that emphasizes grassroots empowerment. The practical significance of the findings provides a theoretical foundation for interfaith dialogue, minority protection, and democratic reform in contemporary Indonesia. The unique contribution of this research lies in documenting how Gus Dur successfully bridged the gap between Islamic traditionalism and modern progressive thought, creating an Indonesian approach to liberation theology that remains relevant to address contemporary social challenges, and providing a foundation for understanding how religious thought can be mobilized for social transformation in pluralistic societies.

Abstract

As technology advances, children’s character development is shaped by their experiences. Therefore, it is the responsibility of parents to provide continuous guidance to help children differentiate between right and wrong. This study explores the educational strategies of Luqman and their relevance to modern education. Using a qualitative approach, this research employs an analytical description based on relevant references. The study identifies five key principles for effective education: meeting the child’s needs, learning through play, creating a conducive learning environment, implementing gradual learning, and reinforcing learning through repetition. Surah Luqman [31]: 12-18 emphasizes four core values in early childhood education: Tawhid (belief in the oneness of Allah), noble character, balanced education (both worldly and spiritual knowledge), and role modeling through dialogue. These values align with modern education, which advocates an integrated approach that combines spiritual, cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. Education should not only develop knowledge but also foster wisdom, emotional intelligence, and ethical behavior. To ensure holistic character development, comprehensive evaluation methods are necessary to balance intellectual and spiritual growth.

Abstract

Bullying in Indonesian Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) remains a critical issue, often addressed with generic interventions that overlook the unique cultural and philosophical contexts of these institutions. This study challenges such universalist approaches by proposing a bottom-up, culturally-rooted anti-bullying model. The primary objective was to identify the core philosophical values of a specific institution, Pesantren Nurul Yaqin, and operationalize them into a structured intervention framework. Using a qualitative case study methodology, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentary analysis, and then analyzed thematically. The findings reveal that the inherent values of humility (tawadhu’), Islamic brotherhood (ukhuwah Islamiyah), and benevolence (ihsan) function as a powerful, synergistic antithesis to bullying by fostering a protective socio-spiritual ecosystem. The research culminates in the formulation of a contextual anti-bullying program that translates these values into actionable strategies, adapting the internationally recognized Whole-School Approach (WSA) to the pesantren’s local wisdom. This study’s principal contribution is a replicable, evidence-based model that bridges the gap between indigenous philosophy and practical intervention, offering a sustainable path for faith-based institutions to cultivate safer, character-driven educational environments grounded in their own authentic traditions.
