Abstract

ABSTRACT Providing exclusive breast milk and complementary foods (MPASI) was knowledge that must be possessed by mothers of toddlers to provide optimal child care. Providing exclusive breastfeeding and correct MPASI was expected to be able to prevent the incidence of stunting and abnormalities due to excess nutrition or lack of nutrition. The aim of this education was to provide knowledge to mothers of toddlers regarding feeding babies and children including exclusive breastfeeding and complementary foods. The implementation of this service activity takes the form of providing pre-test questions, health education, answer and question discussions, providing post-test questions and a practical on how to make MPASI. The results of the interviews still showed that toddlers did not receive exclusive breastfeeding until 6-month, MPASI was given too early and too late and there was still a need to provide information about MPASI for mothers of toddlers. The average pre-test score was 59.5 while the average post-test score was 90.66. This shows an increase in the knowledge of counseling participants. The conclusion of this activity was that providing health education can increase knowledge, especially regarding feeding babies and children.

Abstract

Teenager is an age group that is in a transitional period of human development. The transition period is the process of biological maturation into adults who can reproduce sexually and has the potential for all the consequences of sexual activity. Vaginal discharge is a problem that is often encountered after women experience puberty and may indicate a normal phenomenon, an infection, or other conditions. Healthy, clean-living behavior related to reproductive health in teenagers has a significant correlation with the level of knowledge and daily behavior of teenagers that affect leukorrhea. To increase the awareness of female students at the Modern Assalam Islamic Boarding School regarding clean and healthy living behavior in the field of healthy female reproduction system with support from health professionals and preventive education on leucorrhoea. This service activity was conducted with a total of 60 participants who were involved in filling out the pretest and post-test. The activity phase included initial studies through student-teacher discussions, preparation of learning materials and evaluation methods, and implementation of learning activities and evaluations. A total of 60 female students who took part in this reproductive health education activity got a preventive education knowledge, proved by comparing the pretest scores before the health education activity was carried out and the post-test after the educational activity. A significant increase was obtained with a rate of 93%. Activities related to leucorrhoea in female students show the effectiveness of significant improvement in the knowledge and enthusiasm of the participants.

Abstract

Background: Maja plant (Aegle marmelos) or plant commonly known as mojo, is one of the plants that contains many secondary metabolites, one of which is flavonoids. Flavonoids can be used to induce apoptosis mechanisms in cancer cells, so that specific apoptosis mechanisms in cancer cells become more effective and toxicity to normal cells is minimized. Aim: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of ethanol extract of maja fruit flesh (Aegle marmelos) in inducing apoptosis of HeLa cells in cervical cancer. Methodology: The method used includes ethanol extraction from maja fruit flesh and treatment of HeLa cells with various concentrations of the extract. Identification of compound content in Aegle marmelos was carried out by phytochemical tests. Apoptosis measurements were carried out using the MTT Assay method and flow cytometry analysis. Results: The results showed that 96% ethanol extract of Aegle marmelos contained secondary metabolites in the form of alkaloids, saponins, tannins, and flavonoids. The IC50 value of the MTT Assay results of maja fruit flesh extract was 7,573 µg/mL, with an apoptosis percentage of 17.6% and had an effect on inhibiting the growth of HeLa cells in the S phase as measured using the flow cytometry method. Value: The flavonoid content in 96% ethanol extract of maja fruit flesh (Aegle marmelos) has an apoptotic effect on HeLa cells. This is evidenced by the IC50 value index of 7,573 µg/mL, an apoptosis percentage of 17.6%, and the presence of inhibition in the S phase in the cell cycle.

Abstract

Background: Ischemic stroke is the cause of increased mortality in the world, especially in developing countries. Ischemic stroke is caused by a decrease in blood flow and oxygen supply in the brain. Increased leukocyte count as an inflammatory response, as well as impaired sodium levels in the form of hyponatremia, can worsen the patients condition and increase the risk of death. Leukocytosis after ischemia causes inflammation of neurons and continuous brain injury. Leukocyte infiltration can also increase obstruction causing oxygen levels to decrease. Hyponatremia which associated with cerebral salt wasting (CSWS), Syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (SIADH), cerebral edema and increased intracranial pressure also increases the risk of death for ischemic stroke patients. Purpose: The purpose of this study is determine the relationship between leukocytosis and hyponatremia with the morality of ischemic stroke patients. Methodology: The method used in this study is a cross sectional. Sampling was carried out using non-randomized sampling and obtained 61 patients with a diagnosis of ischemic stroke and recorded completely in medical reports from 2022 to 2024 at RSUD dr soeratno Gemolong. Statistical analysis used was chi square for bivariate and logistic regression for multivariate. Results: The results obtained a significant p value in leukocytosis of 0.007 and hyponatremia of 0.008. The results of multivariate analysis obtained significant values in both variables with p< 0.05. Applications: In this research that shows an association between leukocytosis and hyponatremia with ischemic stroke mortality can be used further for researchers and clinicians, especially in the health fields.
