Abstract

Contextualizing one's comprehension of the Koran is sometimes accomplished through the use of local wisdom. Siri' is one of the wisdoms that are deeply ingrained in Indonesia, particularly in the Bugis Makassar population. This article attempted to decipher Siri's ideals as revealed in the Quran. This endeavor was accomplished by examining Surah Yusuf as the primary source of data, which waas supplemented with value theories gleaned from recent papers. The text of Surah Yusuf was then reduced to the necessary values and examined using content analysis. The study took a qualitative normative approach. This analysis discovered that Surah Yusuf verses 23-25 include the value of siri. This principle manifests itself in Prophet Yusuf's efforts to preserve his honor following his seduction by Zalikha.

Abstract

Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah (Hamka) is widely recognized as a leading Muslim intellectual of 20th-century Indonesia, renowned for his extensive body of work, including both novels and Qur'anic exegesis. His tafsir has been the subject of considerable scholarly interest across Asia. The Qur'an contains numerous verses concerning the Jews, and as an exegete of the entire 30 juz of the Qur'an, Hamka offers a distinct interpretation of these verses. The 20th century was a period marked by significant global political upheaval, notably the establishment of Israel in 1948. The creation of the Israeli state had profound consequences for Muslims worldwide, intensifying anti-Jewish, anti-Zionist, and anti-Israel sentiments, which also permeated discourse in the United States and the United Kingdom. Within this context, several Islamic scholars began to integrate European concepts found in the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion," a document that portrays Jews as malevolent and conspiratorial figures. These ideas gradually infiltrated the field of Qur'anic exegesis, including Indonesian works, most prominently Hamka's Tafsir Al-Azhar, first published in 1965. Before this period, the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" had not influenced Qur'anic interpretation. This paper seeks to critically analyze the theme of Jewish conspiracy in Hamka's tafsir by tracing the origins of his arguments, identifying the presence of conspiratorial elements in his exegesis, and examining the extent to which Hamka's views converge with those of Sayyid Qutb. The study employs a library-based literature review utilizing a descriptive-analytical and critical approach. The findings reveal that Hamka strongly adheres to the conspiracy theory espoused in the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion," depicting Jews as aiming to establish a new world order, dominate the global economy, and control Hollywood and the media. Moreover, Hamka's interpretations are significantly shaped by Sayyid Qutb's concepts of Jahiliyyah (ignorance) and Hakimiyyah (sovereignty).

Abstract

Corruption in Indonesia is increasingly rampant, one of which is the issue of village funds, so the problem is analyzed, and problems are identified to resolve the case. The research method used is an empirical juridical approach using data collection techniques, namely in-depth interviews using qualitative descriptive analysis. The research results found that several things that cause corruption in village funds include low understanding, awareness, and supervision of the BPD (people's consultative body), lack of transparency and accountability, low community participation, political pressure and conflicts of interest, a culture of corruption, and the case studies raised to show that corruption occurs due to misuse by third parties and the efforts taken are based on This is an improvement on these 5 (five) aspects. The critical point is the offer from researchers regarding the reconstruction of the concept of asset recovery when it has been applied after going through the trial process. In this paper, we offer the idea of asset recovery outside of court based on an analysis of the cases raised.

Abstract

The principle of ta'awun (mutual assistance) is a fundamental Islamic value that promotes solidarity and shared responsibility. Its practical application in contemporary, culturally diverse societies often encounters significant challenges. This study investigates how the residents of Ie Meulee Village, Sukajaya Subdistrict, Sabang City, practiced ta'awun in responding to Rohingya refugees stranded in the area during December 2023. Employing a qualitative methodology, the study collected data through observations, interviews with 14 informants—including village officials, religious leaders, community members, and refugees—and document analysis. The findings reveal varied interpretations and implementations of ta'awun, shaped by factors such as religious education, the social environment, and economic constraints. While residents with strong religious knowledge exhibited proactive assistance, others provided help spontaneously or hesitated due to existing prejudices. This study underscores the importance of inclusive religious education, community-based social programs, and local policies to foster cross-cultural solidarity, ensuring the sustainable application of ta'awun values in multiethnic societies.

Abstract

In the context of family law, fathers play an essential role as the head of the family and the decision-maker who directs the family in various aspects, including decisions related to social and political interests. This study aims to describe the role of household heads as active agents in influencing family political choices. This research uses mixed methods to analyze the role of Muslim household heads in making political choices in the Luwu Raya region, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. Data were collected from 30 informants in the Luwu Raya regions using purposive sampling. Data in the form of interview documents, coded in several categories and then reduced according to the needs of the problem formulation. In addition to qualitative data, quantitative data percentages were also used to map political preferences, which were presented as diagrams. Finally, the data was narrated and interpreted to reach the right conclusion. The results show that the head of the family plays a role in shaping the political preferences of his family members by conducting more intense communication and persuasion. On the other hand, some family members have different political preferences due to their education and political experience.

Abstract

Nahwu learning is a crucial aspect of mastering Arabic but is often seen as difficult and monotonous. This study examines the effectiveness of using pantun, a traditional Indonesian poetic form, as a medium to enhance Nahwu learning. A mixed-method approach was used, combining quantitative and qualitative data through observation, interviews, documentation, and pretest-posttest assessments. The analysis included validity, normality, Wilcoxon, homogeneity, and N-Gain tests. The results showed a significant improvement in students' scores, with pretest averages of 66.42 rising to 92.38 on the posttest. Statistical analysis using SPSS revealed that the data were not normally distributed, which led to the use of the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The test results (p = 0.000 < 0.05) indicate a significant improvement in learning outcomes. The homogeneity test result (p = 0.341 > 0.05) confirmed consistent data characteristics, and the N-Gain analysis showed a high average score of 78.92, categorized as effective. Qualitative data supported this, showing increased student motivation and engagement when pantun was used. This study proves that pantun is an effective teaching medium and contributes to culturally responsive pedagogy in Arabic education. It fills a research gap by demonstrating how local cultural media can enhance traditional grammar instruction.

Abstract

Islamic education in Indonesia has historically played a key role in shaping both religious and societal values. However, in the face of globalization, technological advancement, and modern societal demands, traditional Islamic educational models are under pressure to evolve. This study aims to reconceptualize Islamic education in Indonesia, exploring how it can balance the preservation of religious values with the necessity for modernization. The research employed a qualitative approach, using interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), observations, and document analysis to gather data from a variety of Islamic educational institutions, including pesantren, madrasah, and universities. The findings revealed significant gaps in the integration of technology, a narrow curriculum that lacks modern subjects, and insufficient emphasis on critical thinking and intercultural competence. These findings highlight the need for curricular reform, greater use of digital tools, and teaching methods that promote critical engagement with both religious and secular knowledge. The study concludes that for Islamic education in Indonesia to remain relevant and impactful, it must embrace modern educational practices while preserving its core religious identity. This research advances the field by providing a strategic framework for integrating modern subjects into Islamic education, thus ensuring that students are better prepared for both religious and global societal roles. Future studies should focus on the long-term impacts of these reforms and the development of effective training programs for educators in Islamic institutions.
